I have arachnophobia and have been slowly working on it over the years, through various methods including different types of psychotherapy, but somehow this video in particular has helped me a little. Huntsman and tarantulas are the spiders that scare me the most (and funnel webs, as an Aussie). I once had an unfortunate and ~terrifying~ incident involving a mama huntsman and her hundreds of babies dropping from the ceiling onto my bed one night. You can only imagine how someone with arachnophobia like me would have dealt with that lol But this story and seeing the babies grow has helped me understand them a little better. Excellent video overall 😊
Actually peak entertainment. The pacing of the series is fantastic. Always something new without extreme drastic changes. Constantly moving forwards, but never rushing.
I got hooked on this video way more than I expected and to be honest I think its because the way you talk sounds like it has so much joy in it. It sounds like you just love this Vivarium and it feels contagious because now I feel like I love the Vivarium hahaha this was such a great video
Huntsman spiders are actually pretty awesome. I used to live under my parent's house as a teenager which was basically open to the backyard 24/7 and huntsman spiders would come and go as they pleased. There were a few creepy moments - like the time I had one the size of my hand crawl across my belly but other than that, they're pretty helpful. They will actively keep more poisonous spiders away from you.
I've been bingeing this series as soon as i discovered your channel. 10 episodes in I am now barely noticing the rainforest sounds added in post! The fauna and decoration is so spot on that I hadn't even questioned the sounds of an entire forest playing in every episode. Really, great job on this vivarium! Peace love and ants!
What I love about this series so much is, I know nearly nothing about insects/reptiles and AntsCanada still manages to make its super interesting and digestible for me! If someone would have asked me months ago if I'd be following the journey of insects/reptiles and everything else on TH-cam I'd have laughed it off. The storytelling is incredible man, you have a huge fan base so you don't necessarily "need" my support but I'm so happy to support a fellow Canadian any day man! @@AntsCanada Fellow Canadian here, from Newfoundland. Ive watched you off and on for a few years now, i get hooked stick around for a few weeks and then leave again but always come back. "I noticed the life forms there had become complainy and unappreciative of their conditions - so I added FEAR in to help them understand their situation better."
i firmly believe that this is the only channel that can make the world of insects into a educational and entertaining series of drama, horror, love brimming and blossoming with the rise and fall of empires , wounderful work!
Why would you think this is the only Channel they can do that? Any channel could literally just do exactly what you listed, thereby creating exactly what you said only this channel could create. Weird. Illogical
@kevinsouza7744 oh, ok but im just saying that his vedio style is unique, , and as i have watched him for a long time it holds a special place for me, im not saying other channels are inferior
1. I've never been so invested in an ants survival but watching the Dwarf Ants (they should be called The Underdogs) defend their nest had me hooked! 2. I can't get over The Green Reaper's final form, she's so beautiful!!
The green reaper is gorgeous. I used to regularly catch green mantids in the auto shop I worked at, taking them out back to live in the field. Usually they'd either scamper away or turn around to do their little mantis-haka at me ('Have at thee, knave!') and I only ever caught one winged adult. Their flight speed is as surprising as their jumping ability! I think I might have just been able to keep up at a full sprint, and that adult flew all the way across the field and into the neighborhood, at least 45 meters/50 yards. Seriously athletic insects. Crazy ants are jerks, I hope Pandora's Ant HOA bands together to give them the boot! And of course, long live the noble hunstmen (and tarantula)!
This series is more interesting than almost anything on TV these days. I never thought I’d ever be emotionally invested in a bunch of random insects thousands of miles away!
Is anybody else itchy? Jokes aside.. I was randomly recommended this video and absolutely love it. I'm so invested. Awesome, refreshing, engaging content. Keep it coming!
Man welcome, ive been following this channel for ever 10 years when i first started watching i felt the same way. You'll get used to it and learn so much. This is like Episode 15 of this giant vivarium you can go back to episode 1 to see how it all started. There are some insane ant wars in the start around episode 4.
That's an understatement. I worked construction and have fully grown Huntsmans run across my arm or leg while in an attic. Or see them ready to attack me. They are fearless and have a bad attitude. Never been bitten, and really not afraid of many living things, but these things are scary
Has to be the current greatest series on TH-cam , I watch TH-cam pretty much 24/7 and I've been watching you for a few years now and this series is the best thing happening on TH-cam in my opinion
@@AntsCanada lol until I found your channel I was just primarily interested in reptiles and herpetology but I've found a newfound respect for ants 😂 and I didnt ever expect that
I think you need to add more beetle species, like various weevils and darkling beetles. After all, they do make up a quarter of all known animal species
The unknown ant you found on camera while watching the huntsman baby spider might be a Ghost Ant. Also known as the black-headed ant ( at 14:00) Characteristics include: - Ghost ants exhibit rapid, erratic movement that resembles small spiders. - Like odorous house ants, the ghost ant excretes a rotten coconut smell. - Tiny; head and thorax are dark and the body is light, almost translucent. Habitat: - Constructs nests in moist grass and potted plants. - Indoors, will nest in small spaces such as cracks, spaces between cabinetry, baseboards, books, and wall voids.

"The gentle equilibrium off this rainforest I have carefully cultivated, I am so proud. Anyways guys, let's unleash the beast!" Obviously tongue in cheek, good work!
This vivarium is one hell of a project and this video likewise with the editing and production. A great job all round. Some of the close-up shots just of the landscape especially is something rarely seen even in documentaries, they focus so much on their subject that often the ebb and flow of the environment in which they live is often overlooked or glossed-over due to the more broad aspects of a "wider audience" show. also, that ending made me chuckle, a nicely done bait n switch with some fun cinematography.

What I love about this series so much is, I know nearly nothing about insects/reptiles and AntsCanada still manages to make its super interesting and digestible for me! If someone would have asked me months ago if I'd be following the journey of insects/reptiles and everything else on TH-cam I'd have laughed it off. The Dark Horde has the only thing more important than sheer numbers… *Plot Armor*
1. I've never been so invested in an ants survival but watching the Dwarf Ants (they should be called The Underdogs) defend their nest had me hooked!
2. I can't get over The Green Reaper's final form, she's so beautiful!!
Dwarf ants fuzzy and cute
"A war was brewing!" ☠🌩
"The babies began to move" 😊❤

- Tiny; head and thorax are dark and the body is light, almost translucent.
Habitat:
- Constructs nests in moist grass and potted plants.
