As a fish hobbyist of 30 years, i was holding my comment until the end, because maybe they just did it differently, but man, that tank was just slathered together. I've built a few 100 gallon tanks, nothing too big, but it takes a lot of care and the right process with the right caulk. Every caulk is different. There is even a stop point in the video that we can see light through a gap in the sump. I just hope you got an aquarium company to help you out in the end. Aquariums are so different that terrariums in almost all ways they seal. And tragedy is a real concern with any huge tank like this. Anyways., goodluck and I hope you get the leaks worked out.
I haven't watched it through yet! I picked up on the bottom pane of glass direct on the steel stand with no Polystyrene to take up the imperfections. I come to the comments at that point! I also have built many large Aquariums and agree with your comment on the caulk, 100% silicone acetic curing, the strength is the sealant between the glass panels, the seal is in the corners, each step has to be done at a rapid rate without the silicone starting to cure between each step. Edit: I have noticed they have put the wall pieces directly on the top of the base glass instead of the outside, this is going to cause so much pressure on the wrong points of that base as the glass flexes, so many oily handprints on the glass as it was being assembled. sorry to say but this is going to be a disaster.

How about adding some waterproof cameras in the water as well as some other hard to reach places that would allow for some good camera angles as well as for us to see the inner workings of the vivarium and see some hard to reach places.
Adding small, Stationary cameras throughout every Vivarium would be cool to see. Like have them built into the scenery and hidden so anyone looking at the Vivarium wouldn't see them but they could show a lot of different perspectives from the inside. This would be a hard thing to do though as it would involve stationing them in a way where they wouldn't get moisture or damage of any kind and also wiring them out of the tank and into a computer of some kind to record/process the footage. Would be nice to see it done down the road with them all but I also wouldn't blame him for not doing it as it would be a larger undertaking than most people would think. Either way the videos are and im sure will continue to be very well made.
hahaha its funny in EU this would probably be illegal due to work safety regulations, youd have to wear capped shoes and they just do it in slippers and barefeet
Been keeping aquariums for almost 27 years and at that size, personally, I would have gone for acrylic instead of glass for a set up like that. The stress distribution and load bearing ability of glass is immensely less than acrylic. I am sure you have done your due diligence and research. We're just scared that physics is going to send your tank to heaven with same day shipping. Super curious if you're going to do salt, brackish, or freshwater for this tropical set up!❤
I've always found it helpful to never fill a tank with water, to always put in just enough to check for leaks around every possible seal near the base where the seals are more likely to have leaks. If no leaks are found slowly fill in some more, stop then check again. Do this over and over until the tank is full and if no leaks are found, you are golden. Otherwise you have to guess as to where the leaks occurred, at which spots, etc. Sure it's more work in doing it multiple times, but you get a more accurate view of the seal, plus you can use a siphon to save the water below the break in a seal which helps as well. Still this is an interesting choice in vivarium, wont be easy, but nothing worth doing is ever supposed to be easy as they say.
I follow a channel of someone who,. apart from his own aquariums including an 8ft one, does shop aquariums [fish shops as in aquarium/pond fish] and the first thing they always do, even when re-using an older tank, is to put something like 6'' in the bottom to check for leaks. They also have double glass bases in their large [as long as this but deeper front to back] tanks because of the weight not only of the water but also of the rocks, ''fallen'' wood, substrate and plants.
Excited for this one, although I do feel like we didn't get much out of Orchadia, which is a shame. Kinda felt like Orchadia got built and then forgotten about. I hope we get more episodes out of this new paludarium.
Probably because it just hasn’t become very biologically diverse yet, the addition of all the soil and bio matter spots should help in the next few weeks/months
@@calebvitzthum1451 Fair, but it just feels odd that Pantdora got made and then we got like 20 straight videos about it. He was always adding new stuff, tweaking things etc. Then we got a few videos about him making Orchadia and everything since has been like 90%+ Pantdora content, at least another dozen Pantdora videos with just mentions of Orchadia here and there. Not trying to complain really, I've been enjoying the content regardless. Just saying it feels like Orchadia kinda just got forgotten about and felt like we got teased with all of these cool ideas for Orchadia and before any of that has come to fruition we're moving on to a new paludarium. It's just very unsatisfying. Like when you really need to sneeze and someone scares it away. I guess we will see how things progress in the future but I just hope Orchadia isn't just pushed to the side for this new paludarium.
Because it's kind of lame. It's a looker for sure but from an ecological standpoint, it's just a bunch of potted plants made to look like a treetop. There are no organisms in Orchadia that couldn't live comfortably in Pantddora while the opposite isn't true. It kind of brings nothing to the table.
Orchadia provides some very important services for the ecosystem, unfortunately it is not particularly distinguishable from the top of pantdora so when it comes up it is not as exciting
Been in the fish tank game since i was a kid and looks like the usual glass to glass joint with silicone, My dad and i built many glass tanks/sumps over the years and using the right silicone/sealer is key along with having the glass clean. Using some kind of outside bracing helps reduce flex and adds strength too, on the bottom joints is the main area you would want to do this obviously and it also spreads the weight load of the tank+water much more evenly to the stand. Many of the really big tanks out there are made from acrylic and the joints are actually melted together with a special glue/solvent and you can make bends and weird shapes easily, Personally i would have probly went with acrylic on this build or just did the bottom tank part with it and the rest glass panels that don't have to support all the water so they can be thinner plus wont scratch like acrylic does. Its nice being able to have rounded edges instead of just 90 degree corners and the black silicone that All-glass Aquariums started using years back was my go to, its better, doesn't flake away when scrubbed and you can just tell its stronger. It looks great though man just like the others u have done and its good to see someone on youtube making learning awesome, maybe some of the kids glued to screens will come across this and actually learn something.
That glass delivery sequence might just be the most SE Asia thing that I’ve seen in a while. Bunch of dudes carrying something heavy, most wearing shorts, most in flip flops, a random Michael Jordan jersey, one dude with a bandana tied around his head. Checked basically all the boxes!
Wetlands and connected through a cave is awesome! Was thinking swamp originally. Personally I would have used acrylic on the bottom portion where the water and sump were. It is more expensive and scratches a bit easier, but is much stronger than glass. Those leaks are a pain. Also as an aquarium keeper, I'm sure you've researched, but just in case, the bio-load of the sump should be kept at a constant to avoid massive fluctuations in water chemistry and possible large kill offs. Second would advise an alarm to have for water level in sump. If power goes out the sump could easily overflow. Some suggestions in case it eluded you. Best of luck!
I just love low water biomes like ponds, swamps, wetlands, streams and puddles. They have so much going on inside and look so beautiful and refreshing with all the lush greenery, water plants, mosses and aquatic creatures like crabs, frogs, turtles, different species of fish... Looking forward to the new vivarium _so much!_
This is a cool idea, but I feel like the tank likely needs a total redesign, from the ground up (based on not just the video's end, but also comments from others who have more experience with tanks vs vivariums). I hope you're able to consult some professional large-scale aquarium builders before putting any life into the tank, for the sake of the animals who will make it their home. Also, I feel like Orchadia could have used another year/season to mature, as there hasn't really been much done with it compared to all the plans mentioned at its conception. I really hope you do more with Orchadia in the future... and that this new wetland tank gets sorted and ends up being everything you dreamed it could be. Best of luck!
@helloflyg2022 Lmao... did you even watch the video? He has not only designed the tank, he's put it together (with an unsurprising amount of leaks as a result due to poor construction plans). FYI: My comment and others like it aren't talking about the design of whatever will go inside the tank, we're talking about the structure of the tank itself. You cannot simply caulk a few pieces of glass together and hope it holds up. Not when you're planning to put as much water in it as he plans to put in this one. Mikey Bustos (aka "AntsCanada") is used to designing mostly dry terrariums. Aquariums or structures that hold tons of water require a different design. People are just warning him that if he doesn't want a ton of future leaks like the ones seen at the end of the video - leaks that could endanger the lives of whatever animals he puts inside the enclosure - he needs to consult with professional large scale aquarium builders. Preferably *before* risking the animals' safety. Also, typing a comment in all caps telling someone else to "chill" is incredibly ironic. Calm down, bro. The only one worked up here seems to be you.
@ WHY WOULD YOU WANT A REDESIGN WHEN THERES NO PROPS WTH BRO JUST CUZ THERE IS A LEAK DOESENT MEAN HE NEEDS A REDISIGN THE GLASS RLLY DOESENT MATTER ITS WHATS INSIDE THE GLASS DISING LOOKS GREAT CHILL
@helloflyg2022 Lmao. The redesign is of the tank itself. What's inside won't matter if all the animals die due to the very same type of disastrous leaks he experienced towards the end of the video. You seem to be unable to grasp the idea that the term "redesign" can apply to the structure of the tank itself, not just what's within it. You also seem to be unable to grasp the fact that typing in all caps is considered SHOUTING on the internet, which is why it's incredibly ironic for you to do just that (twice!) and then tell me to chill. Trust me, I'm chill asf, lol. Regardless, you clearly know nothing at all about tank design (*tank* design, not decorations, the tank itself). If a tank is going to hold hundreds of gallons of water, which means not only immense amounts of weight but also pressure on the glass and on every single joint where multiple panes are connected, it has to be designed in certain ways in order to prevent leaks. AntsCanada clearly lacks this particular form of expertise, as evidenced by the leaks themselves and the many comments from more experienced aquatic tank builders who predicted such leaks and kindly told him where he went wrong. If you care about the animals' safety, you won't have a problem with encouraging AntsCanada to consult with professional aquarium builders before staking the lives of said animals on such a flawed build. If you don't care about the animals, then wth are you doing here? Either way, I'm done trying to explain basic concepts to you. Have a good day or don't. I'm gonna go about my chilled out way. 😎🧊
@ ants canida has done animal videos for years longer then u were alive stupid 8 yr old he has a team mentioned in multiple videos, he just spent a ton of money putting this tank just for hate comments like urs. I was just typing in caps cuz I have a channel and I receive hate comments all the time. It fells horrible. Also leaks are part of the process. If you know so much then you should know nobody’s perfect. Even professionals mess up. Patrick mahomes is hurt right now cuz he messed up. The eagles and 49ers both messed up and lost the Super Bowl the past 2 yrs. I’m just saying nobody is perfect. If ur chill asf then why r u raining down on him for 1 leak. He hasent put any animals in yet therefore no animals life’s are at steak. If you watch his newest video there’s no leaks, proving my point even further

The cave connector between vivariums is an extraordinarily interesting idea. I wonder if you could keep it dark semi-permanently to allow for a lightless reprieve within the system, while still having some degree of transparency for viewing purposes. I can imagine a variety of smaller critters taking residence in a cave-like system, especially one located between two extremely diverse ecosystems.
I didn't even realize that! He must live in a place where it's polite to do that sort of thing. That is talent, though. Taking off your shoes while carrying a piece of glass that's that big is not easy. Those guys deserve all the applause!
@ they should be fine as long as they arnt exposed to eating some ant species and other exoskeleton proteins however obviously that won’t happen coz Ants is literally in the name of his channel so the best option is to just wear gloves which he already does and even if they weren’t poisonous he would still wear gloves as oils in skin are dangerous to frogs. But tbh dart frogs have a stereotype of being really dangerous but even i have them and so many others in Vivarium and I’m fine as they Arnt exposed to the same insects that if eaten allow them produce the poison as in the wild.
@black_rabbit_0f_inle805 if kept in captivity they are harmless, but in this idk since its their prey where they get the poison from. So they potentially could be deadly. I plan on getting a massive enclosure to make a dart frog set up so ive been doing some research on em alot
He built his _entire house_ from the ground up, literally, with this in mind. You can't just _toss_ 6,000lb on the second story of a house and think it will work. He said he had this all planned out with the drain hole and power, so he definitely had his structural engineer add some extra rebar there to hold a whole lotta kips, as we say. He's had the 5 vivariums picked out from the very beginning. He's basically a YT content creator genius, and seems to be having a lot of fun while he does it. Dream job.
@@kindlin Like I said, an absolute madlad. XD And somewhen in the future, he'll combine all and everything into one multi-story multi-climate vivarium... ... He HAS a cellar, yes?
Wow, so a wetlands rather than a swamp as such, which was my prediction. I actually think this could very well be even more beautiful. Hope you can get it fixed Mikey.❤ You could call it "Davey Jones locker" 😂
Youre right on both sides. Bogs, fens, swamps, marshes, and even some open-waters are types of wetlands. The difference in them are the acidity of the soils, amount of water, and species found in it.

At this size you need proper framework.,you can't use the silicone to hold the glass panels together. Even if you fix the first 2 leaks, the whole structure is doomed over time.

This is awesome! Learning about building large aquariums is on the schedule. Glass is not known as a very flexible material. Even steel flexes, as does the wooden floor underneath your little project that will weigh several tons when completed. I have heard of water beads going through floors that weren’t as strong and rigid as first thought. Foundations have settled into soft ground and no one noticed it until the windows broke. I am concerned about the concentrated weight of steel legs on the potentially wet wooden floor. Some kind of weight distribution pads would be appropriate between the steel legs and the wooden floor.
yeah I noticed some other commenters questioning the potential structural integrity of not the tank but the house itself- definitely hope its something he thought through well
The house is made of cement with very large cement support pillars. I can’t remember if wood was used inside to build out the layout like the floors. All I remember is cement everywhere and not being able to imagine the finished house because it’s nothing like we build houses here in the US. That being said building a fish aquarium on a second floor would scare the hell out of me. Thats alot of weight!

yo, i think it would be very interesting to set up some live cameras in some places of the vivarium including hard to reach areas where animals hide like godzilla's cave in pandora, and let us watch the vivarium live

Hi Antscanada! I have 2 vivariums 1. GAIA my rainforest viavarium it is 30 gallon 2. DUNE It is a desert Dune's apex pradator is a turkish house gecko. And the desert is full of life!
As someone who is married to a marine biologist and have had to deal with her 20 aquariums she built from scratch I can tell you that she made 3 crucial mistakes in the past that you may have made as well. 1. Your caulk needs to be able to withstand pressure changes which I doubt you took to account since all around the aquarium your team just kinda put it together like they would a terrarium. 2. You cannot put glass and glass so near to each other like that unless you have a tripanel glass. Reason being is that water releases air as it temperature rises. Which glass tend to collect in between each other. This slightly denatures the glass as it bends ever so slightly but a tri panel glass will help stabilze the pressure and help with any temperature changes. 3. You placed no cardboard or something to absorb the sunlight may have caused a huge increase in temperature of the glass while placing them together. Like i said before glass can denature and can crack with huge temperature changes. I mean youre from canada so you must know what would happen if you poured hot water on a icy window. My advice (and wifes) is to just redo the bottom glass while making sure you have the right caulk and the glass is equal to each other with no sunlight present until there is water in the tank to help distrubute pressure and temp. Youre welcome
Ive been watching you since Covid and im so glad the algorithm showed me this channel. It has sparked a love for bugs and ants in particular. Keep up the hard work! And long live the OG Golden Empire!
9:49 I hope your floor is designed to hold that weight. That is 1700 kg of weight by itself. I imagine you are looking at over 2 tonnes once you include the framing, glass, and all the things living in it.
Okay, the workers / locals that unloaded the glass are beyond awesome. Watching them unload the giant pane of glass, carry it into your house and take their shoes off AT THE SAME TIME is some real talent!!!
I would love a waterway from Pantdoras black lagoon to Atlantica or whatever name you choose. So fish, crabs and Godzilla could go from one to the other.
Omg. Love this! I started building my first palladium coffee table a few months ago. It’s still a work in progress and I am so excited to get tips and inspiration from this series. Thank you Mikey!
The most interesting bit to me is seeing how people from different parts of the world can look. Your assembly team look like a bunch of teenagers having fun while making a nice glass cave.
in the Philippines, you can see teenagers in sandals arc welding 80 feet in the air on bamboo scaffolding, without any PPE, or even a welding mask. Just holding a shade in one hand and the welder in another. No such thing as OSHA in the Philippines. I never lost an employee over there, but it was practically a miracle that no one was seriously injured or KIA
How about Lilaia as a name. That is, in keeping with the greek mythology aspect of the name Pantdora, the name of a river nymph from greek mythology, daughter of a river god.
@White_Bim thanks, I saw all of the other suggestions beeing something like wateria, Floridaia or something on that level, so I thought a little more deep one might be more interesting. Also I guess the name sounds similar to lily, so that would also fit, if he puts water lilies in there.
Season 4 starts now! So what should we call this new vivarium?
Swamplantis
Caligo (Latin for fog/mist)
"alterra the realm of water" or somthing like "terres altes d'aigua"
Forlandia
Oceania perhaps?

I agree. And where are the orchids???
Got too busy with life that I stopped watching this for months now. And when I came back another vivarium will be added?? Im blessed

AntsCanada, I’ve watched every single one of your ecosystem vivarium videos and they make me so happy. I love your channel so much
Wetlands and connected through a cave is awesome!
Acrylic can also be welded, making it 100% waterproof.
Amazing Series! I'm Excited for more MEGA Ecosystems..
I never realized how loaded you are till this video. That house is incredible!
He most likely had gotten ALOTTTT of money from all the views he was getting from the pantdora and orchadia vids
6mil subs is at minimum $250k a year to over $1mil… and he lives in a very low income country so he’s in top 1%… he would not have this house in CA
He must have another job outside of this, likely still with animals
@@HaybalesnailHe's an actor/comedian/singer
@@Lolalane_ He already had the house before pantdora though. ;-)
BRUH HE HASENT EVEB DESIGNED IT CHILL
I'm so obsessed with this channel now. It's like a documentary but with so much charm. And very educational. Would be a great watch in a classroom setting.
This man makes putting water in a tank an emotional experience. I don't understand how he does it, but he does it.

Vietnamese moss frogs, fire belly toads, dart frogs and vampire crabs on the table for ac? Life could be dream!
I don't know if dart frogs would be a good fit. Way too dangerous
@@black_rabbit_0f_inle805 that's only if they have venomous animals to eat.
@black_rabbit_0f_inle805 if kept in captivity they are harmless, but in this idk since its their prey where they get the poison from. So they potentially could be deadly. I plan on getting a massive enclosure to make a dart frog set up so ive been doing some research on em alot

Not even having Vivarium III and already planning for Vivarium IV, you absolute madlad.
XD
And somewhen in the future, he'll combine all and everything into one multi-story multi-climate vivarium...

Wow, so a wetlands rather than a swamp as such, which was my prediction. I actually think this could very well be even more beautiful. Hope you can get it fixed Mikey.❤
You could call it "Davey Jones locker" 😂
I'd call a swamp a specific kind of wetland, so I say we were still right by guessing swamp.
Youre right on both sides. Bogs, fens, swamps, marshes, and even some open-waters are types of wetlands. The difference in them are the acidity of the soils, amount of water, and species found in it.
