Hey Jen, I just started getting into videography and recorded my local middle school's production of ROA. I was warned to not make a public copy due to copy right infringement. Did you find a way around those concerns? I'd like to post it my recording in a public forum too.
Sorry for the slow response. Short answer: No, I have not found a way around this. Long answer: I am not associated with the school or organizations who are producing the show, just a mom who likes to share with the grandparents (and obviously the other kids and their families). I have posted a handful of videos like this one, and I was snagged for a copyright infringement on one of them. TH-cam removed my video and I had to review the TH-cam rules. Ironically, I posted the same show 2x because there was a double cast and only one got nabbed and I have seen the same show all over TH-cam so there doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason. If you get multiple strikes, your account could get permanently banned. I noticed if you upload videos with music (especially choirs/singers) you may get a copyright notification, "Copyright-protected content found. The owner allows the content to be used on TH-cam." - this doesn’t seem to be a problem and is allowed. Sorry for the rambling, bottom line is you might be risking the copyright infringement. No one has ever told me not to do this so I take my chances. Good luck!
@@JenBurke Thanks for the response. I intend to post with visibility set to "unlisted" and then share the link with the cast & crew to share directly with their relatives. Hopefully that should keep the view count down and spread to just the people who care about the actors more so than making a profit off the show.
