Eugene’s suicide was so visceral and realistic. It wasn’t cinematic. You could see the hopelessness in his eyes and then his body naturally tries to fight against it but its already too late.
A really funny moment occurs in this episode. Throughout the first 3 seasons whenever Livia bitched about people wanting to put her in a "nursing home", Tony would usually respond angrily, "It's an ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY!". In this episode when Janice mentions putting Junior in an "assisted living facility", he doesn't want to and exclaims "It's a NURSING HOME!". 🤣
I think she learned her lesson when Tony smashed her Cadillac headlights with a bat after she Went to Carmella complaining about money and vet bills when she’s driving a Cadillac
Kudos to Angie, she got down to it and worked hard doing crappy jobs but finally owning and running the car shop and even earning steady on the side with the crew. So hats off to Angie especially when she drops the car on Carmela, as good as a slap in the face from a woman carmela was hiding from because she was working in a supermarket. 👋👋
Hell yeah, love Ang. I've always been more of "one of them" in the eyes of other women bencause I'm strong, independent, outspoken and have no problem outshining men in their world. And I get true respect from (some) men, which seems to make submissive women resent me. I mean, I'm a Sopranos girl, I can't bring myself to give a shit about the Grey's Anatomys and other female centric snoozefest shows of the world.
She was hiding in the supermarket because she didn't want to embarrass Angie. It also frightened her, because she knows it could just as easily happen to her. If she wanted to be mean about it, she could've walked up to Ang and started talking to her, but that's her friend.
@@histguy101 I agree, at that point it terrified Carm becuase, as you said, she saw how easlily that could be her. It spurred her to try to get mmore control over the money if I recall. But that dynamic had changed by the last season. I do think that Ang was sort of rubbing her independent success in Carm's face. Carm is used to being the one that always has the newest, niceset, best of everything. And is used to getting admired and sucked up to for it by the other wives. But when Ang is oozing with self confidence, and demonstatres that she can have whatever she wants, like the Vette, AND she's EARNED it herself? I think that made Carm jealous and/or inferior, because Carm knows that EVERYTHING she owns has been given to her from Tony. ANd she knows she could not survive withot a man. The same insecurities she has about Meadow. Sorry for the long reply :)
Pu$$y going into the "witness protection program" (getting murdered) was likely the best thing that ever happened to Angie. Working in the supermarket opened her eyes to how tough life can be in the real world (the world of a woman who is not a mob wife). Thankfully Tony still had enough love for Pu$$y to allow her to run the auto body shoop that her husband had a share in. Angie grew as a person. She discovered and developed talents she never knew she has. Angie's new life after Pu$$y's disappearance is the only real positive outcome from all the characters associated with Tony Soprano.
My theory has always been this episode sets up the season finale. Between Tony's shirt when he's shot by Junior and the Member's Only jacket, there's a few hints to the final diner scene.
@@martijnstuart95 Is it? It's seems far more obvious that it's a meta statement on episodic television having no logical end point, rather than a theory which is entirely post hoc which hasn't been vindicated whatsoever by anyone involved with the show. Not only that, but it would actually invalidate the earned catharsis of Little Carmine's character who decided to leave the senseless violence of mob life. For him to insert himself again at the end in a way completely hidden to the viewer would be terrible writing.
Eugene‘s death is for sure the most difficult to watch out of the entire show. So realistic. The natural response to fight the fact he’s losing oxygen but in addition to the lifelessness in his eyes and the piss in his pants tops the scene off. Amazing show, but tragic nonetheless
Did Tony ever understand that Junior thought he was someone else when he shot him? The impression I got was that Tony never made the connection between Junior’s action and his increased dementia.
He'd have to be an idiot if he didn't know, since he was talking about Malenga throughout the episode and called him that when he shot him, but writers of later episodes had Tony acting like he thought Junior tried to kill him.
@@hahajaxsontv not really. He visits him in the last episode and is still clearly angry at Junior. He sees that his uncle’s dementia is serious, but at no point he makes the connection, especially since he leaves him behind in that state facility.
I JUST realized the shot where Tony’s passing out on the floor after being shot, is recreated at the beginning of the finale, further foreshadowing his death
I love the foreshadowing on Fortunate Son of when Eugene is being made. When Tony says "once you enter this family, theres no getting out" they show a shot of Eugene with this silly grin on his face.
The first few episodes of season 6 where really good and somewhat underrated. The first few episodes where the last of the old Sopranos. Season 7 was very dark and different, but still interesting. He should have just asked to move to Florida, set up some rackets down there, and kick up to Tony. He could've eased into it. Instead, he told Tony about the money. The full amount. Then pestered him for an immediate answer.
I always liked the opening montage in this episode it had been two years between seasons as you mentioned so it was a good and quick way to catch the audience up on what the characters had been up to as well as a way to say some heavy shit is gonna go down this season
Isn't that the episode where Ray dies in the fed's car? They then tell Eugene they lost an asset when he is reporting to them, he figures out it's Ray, they tell him FL is a no go which alongside his son's addiction pushes him to the end?
Good point on the Members Only connection in this episode and final scene. The guy Eugene shoots he calls Teddy which is the same name that Febby in the College Episode calls Tony.

Hey love the videos man. Just wanted to point out that the scene in Anthony Infante’s store, where Tony takes the glasses and says “I’ll get ya later….”, wasn’t like a clepto thing or just to do it. It was a calculated play meant to assure Anthony, a civilian, that he’s gonna be messed with relentlessly until the thing with Phil is resolved. It’s to drive in a point about “yea get this done, and go to your brother in law directly on this, or I’ll have people here everyday fucking with your business” it worked…..temporarily anyway ;) keep up the good work man!

I grew up on Ft Myers Beach. Lived in Ft Myers and Cape Coral, too. I will say one thing, yes, there are mafioso in Florida. My grandmother’s brother was an associate.
Members Only is one of my favourite episodes maybe if only for the use of seven souls at the beginning. A lot of people imo really overanalyse the song's connection to the series and I think a lot of forced connections are drawn, although there are some that I think are valid. The part of Rem and Sekhem shows and relates to Janice and Bobby. Whilst a lot of people have come up with very wild theories it's actually very simply explaining the relationship between Janice and Bobby, Janice is the director, and Bobby is the one that pushes the buttons, it's basically just saying Janice manipulates Bobby to her own ends which we have seen and know to be true. Meadow being shown when the part of Khul the guardian angel is playing is an obvious connection, Tony refers to her as such and her presence in college literally saves his life, as does her voice help pull him out of his coma. Her being the third soul and the idea of her meant to save him three times (but is absent on the third) lines up really well. The only other notable ones are Ba and the remains, which are AJ and Carmella respectively. AJ as Ba makes the most sense since Ba is described as being "a hawk with your face on it, shrunk down" AJ bears Tony's name, also having "reached adolescence at the time of bodily death" and being "the only reliable guide through the land of the dead" suggest that AJ and Carmella die with Tony at the end. I think another really underappreciated part is the beginning of Carmella doubting the narrative about Adrianna, since Carmella has always been told by Tony that wives and kids get looked after if anything happens, what Ade shows to her is that women aren't immune in cosa nostra and it could happen to her, and her dream is the awakening of that.
In 1986 I was 8 and my mothers friend gave me her sons Members Only jacket that he out grew. It was black and beautiful. I loved that coat wearing with my spiked hair and fake Ray Ban Ray Charles glasses
So crazy having a face reveal this early out of left field! it's something i would've expected for the finale or never expect at all. I did not picture you as asian though, just a plain ole white guy lol. So it begins! #Sopranostember
Oh man, is your thumbnail the picture the guy drew while on mescaline? I remember seeing it in a book I had about Carl Jung. Haven't thought about that picture in years, but i guess it was always somewhere in the back of my mind...

Not sure if you covered it and I missed it, but there’s a part that really emphasizes Tony’s Scumbag personality when he extorts Gene for “his taste” of Eugenes inheritance. Absolutely disgusting

Completely unexpected out of nowhere Kino face reveal!! What a cutie 😍
had to stop the video and comment before finishing.
that opening was so simple yet just such a GOOD laugh.
i appreciate it.
thanks kino.!
Season 6 was dark as fuuckk
This first episode got me depressed
'You still liking the jacket, Kino?''
In 1986 I was 8 and my mothers friend gave me her sons Members Only jacket that he out grew. It was black and beautiful. I loved that coat wearing with my spiked hair and fake Ray Ban Ray Charles glasses
I'm always amazed that things that I remembered as having spun out over several episodes, actually happened in the same episode.
Love your content and how it's evolving man.
So crazy having a face reveal this early out of left field! it's something i would've expected for the finale or never expect at all. I did not picture you as asian though, just a plain ole white guy lol. So it begins! #Sopranostember
He did a podcast recently with sopranos theories where he revealed his face
Face reveal! Whoa dude! I thought we’d go the whole length without it haha!
This is a weird thing to admit but I find myself listing off kinos patrons in order throughout my day sometimes lol
Just watch out for who's around before you mention placentajuan
LMAO that intro.
Here we go, Don't wake me up when September ends, let me absorb Kinos magical work...
Kino, fabulous post! I'm thinking its one of your best!
Kino is outshining even borko.
Oh man, is your thumbnail the picture the guy drew while on mescaline? I remember seeing it in a book I had about Carl Jung. Haven't thought about that picture in years, but i guess it was always somewhere in the back of my mind...
But in the end he was clapped in Members only Jackets.
I like how it’s an authentic delivery with the address blocked out 😂
I had no idea they still made those jackets. Brings back the 80’s cool . I had one in burgundy
I always felt Eugene looked a little like Al Bundy.
This is true
The jackeeeet! So happy for you Pure Kino, love your vids
Man oh man, Christmas came early. 21 days of Sochristmas.
Ha! Nice intro lol I felt like the "it's the JAACK-ETT!" Line had more of a Borat feel to it, but that's cool because I love Borat too lol "I run over'a da Beansie weeth'a my car! Veddy nice!" 👍🏿👍🏿
Not sure if you covered it and I missed it, but there’s a part that really emphasizes Tony’s Scumbag personality when he extorts Gene for “his taste” of Eugenes inheritance. Absolutely disgusting
