I always thought Charmaine came across as a bit of a pushover on the show, claiming she wanted nothing to do with the Mob but catering to them at every opportunity. The restaurant was a total mob hangout, they were the guys who keep Vesuvio's in business! She even catered an event at Tony's house which she could have easily refused and we saw the way she got treated by Carm, at least she did manage you get in the last jab telling Carm she slept with Tony!
Serving them at the restaurant was the absolute minimum one would have to do to not fall afoul of the crime families. And she always resented it, and pushed back when she could. We know that Charmaine told Carmella that she'd slept with Tony back in the day, but I always wondered if Artie knew. I don't think Artie is "beta" (part cause that alpha/beta idea is entirely bogus and part cause it's just not generally helpful) or whatever so much as outta date and nowhere near as smooth as he thinks lol He's decent lookin enough, skilled at multiple things, funny, sensitive, a lotta stuff people look for in a partner. He's just awkward asl, insanely insecure, and a mite outta touch/date. I just have a hard time seeing him live with the fact that his wife slept with his best friend back in the day UNLESS maybe be knew about it way back when and has moved past it or whatever. Idk. One of my favorite characters and John Ventimiglia is such a great actor. This episode is so memorable and a huge part of why is how hard it is to watch. The way Artie and Charmaine fighting, the elder Bacala's coughing (way too real for anybody who's lost somebody to lung disease), Bobby's crying, the way buddies head was split open my Mustang Sally, the murder scene itself, just all around hard to watch imo. Undeniably great regardless.

Artie caters to Tony and treats him like a celebrity at times, and his wife hates that, she constantly warns him about Tony, but he tells her to calm down. Both men basically envy each other and kinda wish they were the other guy, but in the end, Artie can’t be cold, vicious, violent and dishonest, with Tony not being able to live like a hardworking legit business man who cares about people, doesn’t want to talk to people nicely at times, and finally being honest to everyone around him. I really do like that about their buddy relationship.
People seem to forget the fact that vitos brother didn't want no parts in mustang sallys relationship. He was just minding his own business and wanted to go about his day. Mustang sally was really a heat seeking missile that wanted to take his anger out on somebody. Ralph comfirms this later on in the hospital. It didn't matter if it was his girl or vitos brother. This is what makes his death so satisfying. Vitos brother wasn't trying to be a hero or help in anyway. This also displays why men are apprehensive in getting involved in domestic violence.

I really wish Mustang Sally and Old Man Bacala had stuck around for more than 1 episode. Sally would’ve been a great problem character like Jackie Jr, and it’s sad they never got too far into Old Man Bacala’s history, since he was apparently so well respected that he got his son straightened out without having to kill anyone.
