Hi I'm hoping to hear back soon since I'm in the middle of trying to replace my inner cv boot, but I dont understand the very first thing you did in the video where you smacked it and that cap came off. I have tried to do the same but no luck lol, just hoping you could explain it for me. Thanks!
Maybe a junk yard. Or maybe a engine freeze plug that's the same size. Try taking the cv to an auto parts store and see if they have something that'll fit
I got hubs and a arms from the scrap yard from what I thought was a 1990 Miata it had the other type of axles but I needed this kind and they both fit the splines looks like 90 to 97 it also looks like up 05 are a lot of interchangeable parts just Google what parts are interchangeable on line and you'll see a bunch
Hmmm lets put it in a balance a new cv axle is $65 life time warranty and to replace it is 40 min the most and ell the work to. Rebuild it ahhhh not for me is not a money maker jjjaa but is just me
'90-'93 use a 4 bolt inner CV, '94-'95 use a different 4 bolt inner CV to match the larger 1.8 differential, '96 up use a different inner CV style with a splined end.

Good job man ,thnx for the info ,can u tell me what type of grease do u usually use for it ?
When you rebuilt the outer joint is there an inner snap ring inside the outer joint?
How do you do the outside cv with the 2 clips
Thank you
Where do you it the rebuikd
If it's already making a clicking sound when you make turns is it still savagable?
Take the axles apart, clean and inspect for abnormal wear.
@@tpavz sweet thanks for the advice 😊
The Miata is a rear wheel drive!
Any info on the part number for the cap that holds the grease in?

@@alexsaveragegarage7188 so basically you changed the grease and boot?
How dah hell you get that little clip in on the hub side
Just have to put the clip on and hit the axle with a hammer to get it to sit. Use a peace of wood so you don't damage it. It'll take some persuasion
And how do you get the outer joint back on the axle shaft?
What replacement boots did you use that are 16$?
The cheapest boots on Rockauto
The moog ones??
Yes the moog for outer and beck for inner
I need a set of cv axles exactly like these. I have looked at a few other miata and they have a different style cv. What year miata are these from?

@@ians1464 the 90-93 (1.6l model) used a different differential from the 94-97 (1.8l)
Thank you!

I dont think this is a third generation miata axle ... my acles sure as hell does not look like that. I think this is a CX-5 not mx5
these are early NA miata axles. Late NA and NB axles changed to a one piece style.
