    OMG - having recently replaced the similarly designed u-joints in my wife's Toyota 4Runner, I do not relish the thought of replacing them in this driveshaft. granted, if like my wife's 4Runner... they may well last 278,000 miles, so not much of a concern. Nice to see there is a quality option should I need to replace this on my NB2.

      It's not one of those things that goes wrong often, but when it does, we wanted to make sure there were options!

    Could you point me in the right direction to find out more about the diff/driveshaft alignment? I searched around but couldn't find anything, as far as I can tell the FM clutch installation tips pdf doesn't mention it

    Does the driveshaft come with new hardware for the Differential flange?

    I got a new drive shaft and I have balanced the wheels and have the PPF setup correctly. My car is still shaking. Do you know what else I can do?

    I bought a Miata that drove backwards into a telephone pole.. the drive shaft tunnel was compressed about 2-3 inches and the PPF was bent inwards.. the drive shaft didnt slide out of the gearbox easily, had to knock it out... does that mean I could expect damage to the gearbox internals? As far as I can see it's ok, spins freely, gears go in and out easily...

      This would be almost impossible to tell without doing some detective work and a lot more detail. Try reaching out to our customer support team directly via phone or email, they might be able to offer some advice.

      @@FlyinMiataVideo I tried another drive shaft I had lying around, and it went in flawlessly.. turns out that the splines on the shaft gets mangled when the drive shaft is pushed into the transmission.. filed the splines with a small diamond file and it works fine! When I got your attention, is it possible to buy the rebuildable drive shaft without the tube? I'm building a Super Seven with Miata parts and need to shorten it anyway.. shipping overseas would be cheaper without the tube.. 😀

       @GeneralPoison Talk to a local driveshaft shop, they may have access to some of the parts from other applications. Toyota may use some of the same parts, for example. We don't have a stash of the Miata parts without the tube unfortunately.

    My car has a 200k mile old driveshaft and an 8lb flywheel. It makes a good bit of noise in 5th and especially on deceleration. Would a new drive shaft be likely to reduce that noise?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lightweight flywheels have a tendency to create a lot of noise in the transmission on deceleration. The lighter they are, the worse it is.

  • @obitodace4493

    So the previous owner of my vehicle welded a manual driveshaft tip onto an auto driveshaft and it blew up on me while driving on the freeway (the welds blew everywhere) now when I start the car (the car doesn’t move cause no driveshaft) but I noticed when I start the car and shift into all the gears 4-5 has a nasty grinding noise while the motor runs. Does this mean my transmission was damaged? Or should I not worry until I replace my driveshaft?
