    I drove a 2003 RunX for more that 6 years and did 310000+ kilometers in it. Then drove the 2008 Auris for more than 4 years and 160000 km's and I believe that the Auris was a much better car. the balance, the comfort, active and passive safety features.

    The new Corolla looks mean from the front! Toyota would be silly to not create a hot hatch with this car😎 With South Africans thirst for sporty hatches its a no brainer. Who wants a 2019 TRD Corolla hatch!?

    I got a 2004 automatic. I really love to drive this car. Recently I changue the torque converter oil and it was so clean that yo cannot see the diference between used and new. Perfection.

    I've owned a Tazz back in mid 2000's, great car for first timers! These days Toyota (Except the Lexus) no longer as appealing to me as before :( well.. since I took the German Diesel route.. ( From 1.9 tdi Polo to a beemer 2.0d E84 and 3.0d F30) the reliability, sportiness, looks, comfort and TOURQUE galore in these German cars, I just don't know if i would go back to Toyota again.

    That brand new CVT gearbox was recalled in certain markets. Do your research and buy the extended warranty if you go down the CVT route.

    My comment in Pt I was that I have come close but never have owned a Corolla, or any Toyota for that matter. Oddly, I don't care for the 2019 Corolla/Auris shown (which has recently gone on sale in the US) but I do like the model that immediately precedes it, which the South African market may not get. Yes, it is smallish, but that is its appeal to me.
    BTW, the newest model is sold in the US with a 2 liter engine and a choice of CVT or 6 speed manual transmission and standard fit air conditioning. The older model has the tried and true but lackluster 1.8 liter engine with "only" 137 horsepower.

    I got an Auris 2010 model second hand got at 254000 kilos and still have it. It’s been sublime but now I have my eyes on the new Corolla hatch but so reluctant to trade in the Auris to lower the asking price cause the annoying thing about Toyotas they hold value like nobody’s business

    10 speed cvt didn't know a cvt could have gears, unless 10 "gear ratios" are the speeds, would make a cvt wear out faster in my opinion.

    2019 looks waaay better than anything in its segment right now but the 1.2 engine not for me even the etios has a bigger engine, the RunX still my favourite Toyota ever why doesn't the price deprecate especially the RSI not to mention the TRD

    • @Carsandmorebyheinrich
      @Carsandmorebyheinrich 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Etios is 19kw and 53n.m less than the 1.2T but you can always tune it to 130kw

      These days lots do. I used to own a dyno and we often tested new cars just to see. They're remarkably accurate to within a few kW. The Runx Rsi on the other hand was often 10kW down, sometimes as low as 128kW. It was a real problem on that car that was easily solved with breathing mods.

    The RunX is nice until you get those stupid people who ruin it and slash its value by lowering the suspension, adding stupid woofer things taking up the whole boot, adding stickers, putting wheels that's too big and ruining all of it. So dumb.
    The Auris 2.0 d4d engine was terrible. But the interior was not too bad in design.
    The new Corolla hatch CVT is the worst part of the vehicle. It's terrible. The interior quality is good. The boot is absolutely tiny though. Stay away from the CVT. It is horrendous. I drove it and couldn't believe how bad an automatic can be. Dual clutch is also crap. They could've just made a normal efficient auto. If everyone else can do it surely they can.
    The current Golf is 7 years old now but still beats this when it comes to tech and drivetrains.

    • @PerformanceWithPage
      @PerformanceWithPage 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      CVT is the future bro. I love CVT gearboxes in non performance cars cos i dont wanna even KNOW the gearbox exists. But for weekends I want a stick shift!

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PerformanceWithPage You don't need a CVT to get the feeling that the gearbox doesn't exist. Look at the normal autos from Mazda, Mercedes, BMW... No cvt but smooth that you don't feel it. Those who use CVTs are just lazy to build a good auto or are not able to engineer an efficient one with an engine that can also be efficient with it. CVT drones, feels terrible and is weak. It can't even tow.

    Every Corolla after the RXi is a testament to mediocrity - when playing it safe and boring to pander to old Oomies and Tannies who want reliability and absolutely nothing else. The Corolla is the automotive equivalent of a peanut butter sandwich... with very little peanut butter and a whole lot of goverment loaf. Toyota isnt even leading in the reliability stakes anymore... so what exactly are they offering? No thanks.
