GREAT video! The location of the compressor just boogles my mind. I have searched TH-cam for this configuration. My son's 2002 F150 has this configuration. Great video. This is in the worst possible place. One question what did u use to hold the clutch in place to get the center bolt out? Going to try to replace that first to see if it's a quick fix. Thanks
Hey Joel, Great video. I’ve got an 07 as well and I think just my clutch is bad I don’t see many listings on auto part websites but I found some on eBay and Amazon. Was it hard getting the clutch off? Did you have to shim it, and how long did it last. Hey thanks
Hi - I also remember the clutch part not being that easy to find. There is actually a number on it or should be, this helped me locate one that fit. I also went to a wrecker and went out in the yard and found one but was too worn, but this is another idea to try in your area. So if you just replace the clutch then it's easy and you can leave the compressor in place. The clutch has like 3 bolts or one big nut or something but you would want to loosen it while the belt is tight then relieve the belt tension after. Good luck

Hey Joel good repair video! Couple of questions did you remove the fan shroud? Did the original compressor lockup? If it did was the compressor oil contaminated? Reason I ask is some talk about replacing the filter in front of the radiator and the expansion valves and the plastic orifice tube? Mine locked up and killed the engine a until it fried the clutch. They built the car around the compressor for sure! :( Thanks ahead good job! Mike
Hi Mike - ya my compressor did seize up. Im no expert at all. Oil usually comes with the compressor and its cheap, so you should not try to salvage. There is a receiver dryer that should be replaced and is near the radiator and it looks like oriface tube. Its different on the 3rd gen. Good luck on your repair!
@@joelh3364 got my condenser replaced had to remove the whole front end of the Expedition tackling the compressor in the morning did you have to remove the fan shroud?
@@burnair1608 The shroud has two pieces and pivots and rolls upward then just hold it in place with something so its not in your way when getting to the compressor. I didnt have to take mine off to r and r the compressor. Good luck!

If he didn't replace the compressor the refrigerant would have leaked out because the compressor was unserviceable. Refrigerant leaks out everyday, that's why we started using safer refrigerants. You can let go of your pearls, it'll be okay.
@@mikey67156 I'm not trying to be a know-it-all but because I am a mechanic by trade and I have been for the last 30 years I know a little bit about AC systems they sell a special pump recovery system that pumps the freon from your vehicle into a Freon container like a 5 gallon steel storage tank

Im curious as if my ac is blowing kind of cold air sometimes but only for a Few minutes. Itblows hot usually. I also put refrigerant in last summer and it blew cold for 2minutes then hot. Any ideas?
Please tell me you had jack stands under that. Also, what kind of advice is "use the jack for a pillow." Had that jack failed and the vehicle fallen you'd have been killed.

I set the tensioner and belt back on while compressor in place, hit it with a impact wrench/gun. Good luck.

Could’ve jus disconnected the ac line from the top and slid the whole AC with the lines from the bottom of the fan cover 😭😭😂

When he took the fan off I got very angry
I was able to get mine by the fan without needing to take it off. a little wiggling and turning of the fan blades it slips through.
