    As a freelance web designer/dev these were really good tips to hear. Especially the networking part, this is immensely value when it comes to freelancing.

      @@dcarbs2979 she was excited to see someone that looks like her because we don’t see it often. You seem bothered by that, and I do not welcome that behavior. So by all means, please go watch someone else if it bothers you to see other people excited to be represented. We are in America, where it matters to us a lot, because we aren’t afforded the same privileges or representation based on how we look. You can look up which books to read to educate yourself on that topic and gain a better understanding. I don’t care what white people do to each other. Hope that helps!

    Ha, I did get something new right from the beginning of the video, in the 10 years I’ve been working freelance (and now panicking that clients are disappearing), it never once occurred to me that my clients or shop customers cared one bit about who I am as a person, I’m self-absorbed like that, so that was gold and I should try to do more of that, thank you for the valuable advise!
    Hate networking… hahahaha! Yes, that and marketing, I’m right there, that’s why I don’t succeed in life.

      @@ShondaD_ Hi, it depends a bit on how much work experience you already have. Are you fresh out of university or have you already worked in the media or design industry? If not, I would definitely recommend working in an agency for 3-5 years to gain experience and soft skills and build up a network. When I started my own business, I actively introduced myself to many companies and agencies as a freelancer. This helped me a lot to actively acquire new clients.

      @s.w.4409 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ShondaD_ I can't tell you whether it's worth starting your own business in your individual case. There are too many variables that I don't know: your experience, your skill level, your previous network, your financial reserves.
      If you don't currently have the financial reserves to survive for 6-12 months, I would first recommend looking for a permanent job in the marketing sector. Here you can A: save money as security as soon as you are self-employed and B: gain experience and contacts.
      But if you already have experience and contacts in the industry and have a sufficient financial cushion - why not take the plunge?

      Well, choosing a niche means you also learn how to say no to things that aren’t reflective of that. When I started, I did it all. Most creators can do a lot of different things. I made this point basically to say picking a niche helps you focus in one lane and scale, so if you’re interested in growing your freelance business, that’s one (strong) way to do it.
