    Hi Abi! Your videos are such a massive help 💖 Would you ever consider doing a video on exporting and organising files for client delivery? It's something I haven't seen anyone do yet and I'd love to see your process. Again, your vids (and insta content) are an absolute god send, thank you! X

      I always charge 50% before I do the final design. If they don't want to pay the rest at least you got 50% of the payment. But you should know how to pick your clients. this kind of things shouldn't happen. at least not often ;)

    I love your movies and your work! I am only bothered by one question, what does it look like in cooperation with the client? What do you show the client before you start working? only moodboards or something more? How to avoid a situation where, after creating the entire brand of the client, he will say that he wants something completely different? what to do in such a situation? Are you doing the whole brand again?

    This was a great video, thank you Abi :) I have a question though, if I was to niche down when starting out, could I eventually expand into other niches and styles or industries? I usually try to have a style appropriate for a given project, but this ends up with most of my portfolio not being cohesive and I haven;'t got any passion projects either to show myself off. Thanks in advance if you see this

    • @abiconnick
      @abiconnick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you James, appreciate it! Yes you certainly can! When you have a bigger name, business and brand people will happily come to you for other services, just have to build that trust first! I would say start doing passion projects it really allows you to grow your skills and find your unique style!

    So I'm a graphic designer. I'm burnt out and don't want to finish school. I feel like I'm learning things I don't need to. I feel like a lot of places won't even look at your work if you don't have a degree. I'm just sick of school. Do you have a degree?

    • @abiconnick
      @abiconnick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a video on if you need a degree or not here: th-cam.com/video/C0U-6omir2k/w-d-xo.html hope it helps! Sorry to hear you're feeling burnt out, I actually don't have a degree and am mostly self taught, I believe passion projects is one of the best ways to grow and improve as a designer, it lets you explore your creativity, create your own style, and it makes you enjoy the work and fall in love with being a designer, I would highly recommend you give one a go! 💛

      Hey, I would recommend getting a website, if you are using adobe you coudl even try adobe portfolio or behance! I worked on Fiverr for a while think i reach level 2, but i would not reccomend fiverr, personally i found the clients wanting low quality of work or ask me to copy work, as well as, if there is any problems even if its the clients fault fiverr sides with the client... Even if its against your agreements and Fiverr's terms and conditions...

      Try adding contracts, welcome packets and when sending deliverables send it as a pdf presented to the client, these little things can add value and make clients pay more due to this value, not sure how that would work on fiverr but just an idea. Fiverr is a confusing place but if you need the money totally understandable, look at top gigs and take inspo like keywords. I wish you all the best and good luck!

    • @parito5523
      @parito5523 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I could but where I am my option are very limited :
      I am from Madagascar and here, most peuple don't have any use for a bank account as they don't have any money to store, to compensate this, all banks make the financial requirements to create one incredibly high, so high that even a lot of people with some very high paying works here can't afford them.
      And while I try my best to get some saving from local works, the reality is that our economics is just so bad that there is almost no local clients and the pay rate is incredibly low so I just can't afford to make an account even with all the saving I do as if now.
      So getting direct work from international clients won't work for me as there is no way for them to send me the payment afterward.
      Similarly, I would guess most clients would like to have some secure payment while working directly with a designer instead of a direct bank transfer, and even if I managed to make a bank account finally, PayPal, and other similar services just don't work in my country (you can use PayPal for making payments but not for receiving payments).
      I've thought during a lot of time about all my options and all the pathways design related or not I've explored so far would get all cut off by all of these same hard blocks.
      The only option that would get me through there block I found was to use websites like fiverr, as they don't require you to put any card information to get started so my plan was to finish a lot of client works from there until I would have around 2000$ in my fiverr account. Only then I would be able to safely use by small savings and borrow from people to open a bank account as I would be able to repay everything right away and would still have some left for investing in my local projects that would let me able to maintain everything even if the fiverr traffic was fluctuating.
      This was just one of the only plans I have to get past all the issues I had but the other are not design related so I won't bother you with them, so far none is working as excepted unfortunately but that won't stop me from trying

      I would tailor your projects to the clients you want to attract!! So for example if it’s specifically clothing brands, then make a project based around this! But if you’re not sure what business you want to attract and just want to start then I bring out design briefs each week on my Instagram page!! X

    I had an idea for getting more clients that I was going to try, but I want to know if it’s a good idea. I want to do rebrand of clothing brand I follow on Instagram, as of right now I’m focusing on logo design. If I were to design this logo for this brand just for fun and post it on my Instagram tagging the brand, would this be a good way of getting my name out and letting them know I could design for them?

    • @KamiAlicja
