Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm still rocking the thin film that came on my S20 ultra screen. I also appreciate that you took the time to apply each one. It helps to let's us see the level of frustration/ease and the amount of time it can potentially take to apply them. I guess the magglass will be my winner and I will be using the link you provided!

I actually came to this video for "how-to" (instruction) because I just installed my first film protector -- which I already love. You didn't demo the brand that I purchased, but you put me in the right direction!
What I noticed rather quickly is that the corners problem is avoidable ... I was overzealous in trying to elimate bubbles and that resulted in a teenie bit of stretching in my first corner. I stopped trying so hard with the others so I ended up with three perfectly-laid corners. I carefully trimmed that first corner and it's staying down quite nicely.
I kept your video running to the end while I was finishing up and have to commend you, not only for the "how to" (for me) but your reviews (on behalf of others). Thank you for all of your work and for being an excellent host!

I greatly appreciate you testing all of these out. I've been trying to make a decision for two weeks because i have two phones that need them. I was really hopeful for the tempered glass with the adhesive because the finger print lock is a must. Plus the fact that we both use the phone to play different games, the cut out finger holes will just get in the way. Only thing that is different for me is the case I use is a UBPro, and the front case piece literally goes over the front curved edge of the phone, and might hold down any roll of a protector. I look forward to the Whitestone one.

This video is brilliant. A perfect reminder of why I don't intend to bother with Screen Protectors anymore.
I've always used them in the past, usually fitted by the Apple Store, The Carphone Warehouse, or an independent Mobile Phone shop near me.
Why? because I've tried (and failed) countless times.
Regardless of how careful I am, or how closely I follow the instructions that guarantee 🤣🤣"bubble free" installation.
I've just bought a budget Samsung A41s, paying £149. Bought some protectors, took messed up (what a surprise) the installation, so took it 2x to the Mobile Phone shop, who charged me £10 for fitting and then both times left it with a bubble which, in spite of their assurances that it would "go away," (they rarely, if ever do) it didn't.
So, all in all, I've forked out over £20 on top of the price of the phone to end up with no Screen Protector on the phone.
What a racket these people have going on, even more so when you get one Protector in the pack and that fails and they tell you to contact them and they don't bother to reply.
So, enough. I have a case on it and will risk it with the naked screen.

great video. I lived through the curved screen issues with my s8 days and upgraded to the s20 FE. I recently netted an s20 5g super cheap and was wondering if i should make the 5g my main phone and sell the FE. I came here wondering if curved glass protection had gotten better and came away with the understanding that the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is the bane of glass protectors. This is not the case with the optical sensor on the FE, I have a plain as shit tempered glass and zero problems reading my finger print. I am def going to be wary of ultrasonic sensors in the future. Optical may be a little slower but it is so much more resilient.

I appreciate you trying these protectors out to give us an idea of what to expect. The one thing I've noticed is that the lines and some of the bubbles actually go away after having the screen protector installed on the phone for 1-2 days. So, Its not really fair to make a decision immediately after installation.

Better protection with glass, but rarely works well.... so i decided to go for the film screen protector.... and take my chances, but let me share if you want to take your chances. I found the perfect film screen protector that wraps around the phone and gets held by the case... and also the fingerprints scanner works great with it. It's called "Ringke Easy Dual Wing" under $12 and comes with 2 at Amazon. I got the note 20 ultra. But they should have one for the S20. I looked at this video hoping to find a glass one that's good. But I'll have to stick to the film one to avoid throwing my money away with the glass ones. Thanks for the video and your patience, surely saved us a lot of money. Thank you for the time to share this. I actually just bought 2 of the S20 plus phones and now I m in this issue of finding a screen protector that works but without this annoying circle for the fi ger print.
From your videos I would not get anyone of them. I may find at home an old tempered screen protector that is still new but for a flat screen phones. I would care less for the finger print thiug I may use the pattern or the eye iris to unlock if the S20 plus supports it.
I may also get a good cover that is raised at least 2mm above the screen and skip all together a screen protector for this phone.
This is going to be my last curved screen phone.

Great video, Tony. I just installed an LK Glass Screen Protector, which I got from Amazon, for my Samsung Galaxy A10e. It comes with 3 screen protectors and an installation tray which makes lining up the screen protector to the screen very easy. There are a few air bubbles around the edge. They are noticeable when the screen is black and not when using the phone, so that doesn't concern me. I would rather not lift up the edge of the screen protector to try to get the bubbles out. I find with previous ones that it breaks the seal around the edges. So far the adhesion around the edges with the LK seems pretty good, but I will have to check it in a few days. I have previously used Supershieldz and Mr. Shield from Amazon and they did not adhere around the edges and let dust under the screen.
Is it that hard in 2022 to make a glass screen protector with enough adhesive around the edges so that it doesn't come up? I guess so.
This LK seems better so far.

A couple comments: 1) having a summary at the end - either verbal or in chart form would have been super helpful. 2) while your assessment of the merits of each screen protector is highly useful information, watching you tediously apply each one is not. This video could easily have been a punchy 15 min review instead of the protracted sleep aid that it is.

I think the fingerprint on the front is way better, it’s the curved glass that is causing the problem. It won’t allow for a nice static screen protector to be used. If the screen was flat we wouldn’t have to use these adhesives and the fingerprint would work a lot better through the protectors. Thank you for your support Evil.

I’ve had the same problem with film type screen protectors with Samsung phones since the S9: edges pop out & ruin the look of my phone, the film’s adhesive eventually loses its stickiness resulting in me needing to replace it. I’d repeatedly fix the edges but they never stay down. I don’t want to use a glass screen protector since I change to a variety of cases depending on my work situation, even if they’ve been shown to be the best ones for edge screens. I tried “liquid screen protectors” before & they’re mostly snake oil.
I’ve used Spigen film screen protectors in previous iterations of the Galaxy phones. As you’ve mentioned, they stick fairly well & accommodate _some_ cases, but their clarity really sucks. You already commented on the “orange peel” texture, I’d like to add that you can notice tiny rainbowing lines on the film too.

Great review going through in detail, would've cut down the time showing the unpacking and wiping and from my experience, you need to have your finger/thumb on the sensor for a little longer when you have a screen protector.

I've bought a cover identical to the MP-Mall an the LK ones that you used. It is true that the edges don't adhere to the display, but it's possible to soften the plastic film by warming it with an hairdryer. In this way they will adhere perfectly. Very good result with my S20, and the fingerprint sensor is now much more responsive than it was with the original cover 👍

I think your right. I have a T-Mobile Revvl+ and I upgraded to a Supershieldz tempered glass protector and even though I did everything right the edges all around don't really lay flat to conform to the phone screen surface. I should have chosen the plastic instead of the glass but I need some kind of protection. I'm really clumsy with phones.

Hello, I subscribed and liked. Honestly really appreciate your work here. Getting a great screen protector is now a very difficult for consumers thanks to the advent of in-screen fingerprint sensors. (I HATE it in the screen. Not as reliable as it was on the back. But I love Samsungs). I have suggestions.
Nobody is going to appreciate watching you install screen protectors for over an hour, that's very boring. You have a quick summary at the end noted in the comments (thanks for that), but the summary is too quick. Having skipped all the testing to get the result I only have your recommendation but I don't know the why?. The questions I had when I searched TH-cam on which protector is best, they remain completely unanswered. And you went through all that effort with all the choices from Amazon, you have the answers I want to hear! Course I don't wanna spend over an hour going through what you went through to get those answers. So....
Five minutes. Ten max. This is how long your video should be after editing. It's enough time to tell me what's wrong with these crappy protectors by so and so and such and such, and why these other protectors by these guys or the other guys work great and are a good buy. Links in the description. Awesome.
Your video would have a nice title card, you narrating throughout, start with an intro saying what you will be testing (installation, picture quality, feel, fingerprint, etc.), maybe what you'll be expecting, then shots of you testing while you narrate the results.
For example, was this one easy to install? Tell me and show me, ten seconds. How'd it look? Ten more. Feel? Fingerprint? Five to seven seconds. Move on to the next one. Was one like the previous one? Same issues, slightly better or worse? Just gloss over it ten seconds or so while showing a shot of you throwing the box in the trash can.
Honestly it depends how many you tried, maybe sort them by price. If you tested a whole whack load of them, like a 100 +, ten minutes max! If you tested 20, five minutes is all you need to show and tell me all I need to know about them all.
To be clear, those questions I had when I searched TH-cam for answers and found you:
    1. ) Tempered glass or flexible film? (Is it true glass has significantly better impact protection? Film scratches easier? Glass doesn't stay on phone or wrap around curves well? Film stays on better but quickly looks like sh*t?
    2. ) Installation easy? Did you have to apply some glue? Get glue in the speaker? Bubbles? Weak adhesive? Corners peeling? Straight alignment? Painless or frustrating?
    3. ) Does it work? Protects from impacts/scratches? Fingerprint work? Looks and feels great? Does it have a ridiculous visible circle where the fingerprint scanner is? It does? That's retarded. That's ridiculously retarded.

When smoothing out the edges on the curved glass, you need to start at the middle, not the corner. There is an issue with the corners, but I think it would be less bad if you started at the middle. Also, when you do the wipe-downs, I think you'd have more success with the adhesives at the corners if you put some special effort into removing fingerprint oils from the corner glass. Overall, I really appreciated the effort that went into this. Your video quality is really good! Thank you.

you dont do the UV glue installation ones right. u need to over the fingerprint sensor with a microfibre cloth or the packaging of the alcohol wipes, and the cure the surrounding part of the phone so its cured and wont move but the glue on the sensor is still liquid. then take the cloth off and press down where the sensor is to thin out the glue and then cure that spot. the sensor will work then.

I had some good luck with the LK and a OnePlus 7 Pro 5G with a Spigen Tough Armor. Only a tiny spot would raise on the edge by the alert slider, pretty good for a cheap screens. The screen itself did it's job and I had only used one out of the three provided.
I tried to repeat the process with the S20 Ultra today but it didn't work as well and the edges peal away the way you've shown it. Solutions: getting more LK kits for later? Looking for another case? Or getting a Xperia 1 II which has a flat screen. :D

You mentioned having it on for a few but I have no interest in using my fingerprint so that's irrelevant for me. I'm interested in quality and it seemed the qualification was if the fingerprint worked. This will leave 90 % + of your phone screen protected. The phone cover will protect the sides, back etc. This worked very well for my SS G 8.

I love your hard work on this review. Need lots of patience. I respect you on this dude! Thumbs up man! As for me I have the S20 Ultra, but I didn't use any screen protector or tempered glass. I only bought the original Samsung rugged glossy casing for my S20 Ultra. And it's enough protection for me. Because for Samsung S series their curved glass are not meant for most screen protectors and tempered. Furthermore many rugged cases when you put it onto the phone, the side edges of the case itself will pushed the screen protector or tempered out. I had one incident many years ago when I had my previous Samsung edge put on a tempered glass and when I put my UAG case on it, it pushed my tempered glass right out! I was so disappointed because it's a waste of my money on the tempered glass. So when I bought Samsung S series, I will never put on a screen protector or tempered glass. You can call it "Once Bitten, Twice Shy". Unless I'm using iPhone. Because iPhone have flat screen. Very good for screen protectors and tempered glass. Seriously, Samsung should really stop making curved edge phones. They don't support screen protectors and tempered glass though......

      @edmondloo1975 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@HighTechCheck Yup. I also hope so too. They really should make flat screen. Using curved screen phones is like you can only have 1 protection. It's either using a tempered glass then you can't use a case. If you want to use a case, you can't have a screen protector or a temper glass on. It's one way or another. You can't have both protection.
