@@justg00ch when I say something is overpriced, it means they are asking more than what people or myself is willing to pay, has nothing to do with saving up. I rather have a used GTR, which they are plenty of at that price point. I've had 3 370z's a 300zx and an M3. The new Nismo Z is over priced. The base model is fairly priced if you can find one with out markup even then i am not a fan of the VR30. If I did want it I would go for the infinity Q60 with AWD put 15k in mods and save the difference. That new 9 speed is ass according to most people

If a manual gearbox cant hold just 50 more Nm of torque, i would be worried about it even in the normal Z.
They always say that shit too but somehow someone with a clutch upgrade will run 800hp
@@RCXDerp this trans has a cooler and if I'm correct came from a Mercedes, should be good for big power and if not they'll def have aftermarket plate to allow it to handle that power.
the trans is good for 1000+, same getrag 6 speed they've been using for years, the reason why they say that is because they would have to sacrifice drivability by switching to a heavier clutch for more power. that being said, i would be worried about the stock clutch in the regular z 10000%
@@Unxpekted It was designed by Mercedes, just not sure if they used the materials. If they did, they should be good up to 800-900 ft/lb of torque.
Stop saying the same dmb sh on every channel. There are plenty of modified "400Zs" that make much more than this Nismo and the auto transmission is great. Also, Nissan opted for the auto only because it's faster than the manual (as with the GT-R). I don't know what you people eat to be so dmb.
This is all the sarcasm and detail as SavageGeese but all the humor and charisma of Straight Pipes. God what a great episode. We need more of these.

Absolutely love the SavageGeese collaboration!! This was a fun video, and I love the takes both of you had. Love both channels it was great to see.
Also, the price on this thing hurts the soul quite a bit. I miss the days of entry level under $30k Z’s, I love the sound this thing makes but with the price point so close to the Supra... probably would pick that over this.
This is the price BEFORE Nissan's miserable rip-off artists get ahold of it. They'll be asking for $100k for this thing.

Nissan dealers are absolutely disgusting with their markups. The one in my area wants $10K over msrp for the Performance trim.
The VQ37 can handle boost if you really want that extra power.

The front end of the Nismo looks 10x better then the base model.
No it not 10x better in looks like new Toyota 86 front end I like base model u can but Carbon fiber lip and Sideskirt and diffuser all carbon fiber all round it look better then nismo model just make own real ultimate z your own !

I’m trying to comprehend how their manual in the performance trim wouldn’t hold an extra 20hp and 34ft lbs of torque that’s in the nismo. Is the clutch in that really already that strained?? The excuse of it not holding up to “the extra power” seems weak to me..
Yeah it doesn’t make much sense to me either. I wonder if they only had the time/money/people to develop one transmission. So they went with the one that sells more.
@@lemonmanlopdablophas nothing do do with that, it’s just a marketing strategy. The manual has been proven to be able to withstand 600 lbft of torque and 760whp. People have already modded these things.
I prefer an automatic but also an owner of a manual FD3S, and 370Z. Live in the city and the transmission can handle exactly what I plan to build one of these to, 600HP. You'll never shift as fast as this AT no matter how lightning quick you think you are.
@@lemonmanlopdablop its not that , automatic trans can get a lil extra turbo PSi for small periods of time . kinda like in hyundai they have that overboost button you hit and you get like 30 hp and ft ilbs for about 40 seconds . Manuel trans cant overboost .

This is what the Z Performance should have been, and the Z Performance is what the Z Sport should have been. But for $65k, buying this thing over a Supra, Cayman, or M2 is just silly.

When the 400Z was announced, it was so approved by enthusiasts because in comparison to the Supra...it was cheaper, actually made by the company, and was manual. Now with the most-enthusiast trim not having a manual I can't help but think that they fell flat on their faces.

2:39 Low-key agree with this. I feel like the new Supra finally got a manual after so much demand from the people, hopefully Nissan does the same.
The Supra manual basically killed whatever Nissan had going into the release of Z. The only reason anyone would buy a Z over a Supra is because they like the looks more of the Z over the Supra or they absolutely can't spend a couple thousands more for the Supra.. everything else the Supra is a far better value and more capable than a Z.

Great collaboration fellas! On the question of the gearbox, I was offered a Nismo as my order has not been fulfilled yet but declined because I wanted a manual
At MSRP $64,990 Red-Blooded Smackaroonies, you kinda get ripped off. They made the Nismo a better 400Z but they didn't make it the sports car apex predator it could've been. You can get a similarly specced Toyota Supra 3.0 Premium with a manual for $58,745 MRSP. You get an *arguably* better car with a manual for over 6 grand cheaper before dealer markups. Then a 718 and a M2 get thrown into the mix, and the 400Z Nismo becomes less competitive and more of "Hey, we fixed most of our mistakes, can we have a consolation prize?"

I find it hard to believe that the 6-speed manual they use in the Z, which is essentially the same one they've used since the 350z, can't handle 420 horsepower and 380 lb/ft of torque. That transmission is notoriously stout and has been left completely stock in 600+ horsepower cars for almost 2 decades. That's probably the most popular manual transmission used for swaps into high horsepower Japanese car builds over the last decade plus. It's basically the Japanese T56.

I had a 2015 370Z NISMO, sold it early summer to buy a 2014 C7 Z51. Although the Vette is much faster, the Z was SO much more fun, especially with the slower driving, rowing through them gears hearing my VQ was the best. Also the tightness of that cabin and the way the motor rev'd = JDM heaven. Would I own another NISMO product in the future? Absolutely.
I was thinking about a 370, drove one, and came to the complete opposite conclusion lol. It felt identical to my friends V6 Mustang in regards to power and handling, except twice the price. Ended up picking up a GT for the same price as the 370 (wish I would’ve got a 1LE Camaro but was in high school and couldn’t afford one)
I 2nd the Camaro SS 1le. Thats my current obtainable dream car. They were $45k new, and absolutely nothing under $65k can beat them when it comes to track capability/lap times. Not to mention the chassis balance/handling, grip, driver engagement etc. GM absolutely killed it with making the 1LE Camaro's such usable & track ready driver's cars. (All with optional heated & cooled seats)😅👍

I have an Infiniti 2022 Q60 RS iLine proactive and I'm loving every moment of it since Nissan will stop producing it for 2023, as per rumors. The Q60 is more practical IMO cause it seats 4, & it's AWD, making winter driving in Canada a pleasure in a Q60 RS iLine . ❤❤🎉

For 65kUS + dealer mark up, you mind as well just get a 2012+ used GTR.
The GTR trans before 2014 weren't the best. And buying a GTR that old, who knows how many times it was launched hard
@IScoreUnderPressure4 good point. Can always take it to Nissan have them run a full computer diagnostic and they can pull every launch record. The Ecus log them for warranty purposes.
Certaintly would love to see a manual in such a greatly sporty car with such a race history.

Looks aside, hard to get past the fact that this costs more than its direct competitor: the Supra and competes pricewise with the new BMW M2, Mercedes A45, Porsche Cayman and Audi RS3. Sure it's a good car but...the competition is just too good at this price point.

@@MCHellshit If you have ever driven the M2 and RS3 you would never associate those two with words like "sucks" or "boring". What's more, the M2 (and Supra) come with a MANUAL. The Z has more power than the Cayman but that's the only advantage it has over it. Look at a drag race between the regular Z and Cayman, the Z gets absolutely destroyed from the start and 15 more hp ain't gonna change that.
Apparently a lot of people care about Mercedes. You are not a car person if you don't love a practical hatchback with over 400hp.

I don't understand... how can the stock engine be find with a manual transmission, but the NISMO variant doesn't exactly have a ton more power... yet the manual isn't strong enough?

Great effort Nissan. I really hope Nissan will reclaim it's glory once again.
Only way to happen is for them to make that leap they did in the early 2000's again. That's giving their engineers a huge budget to create an amazing chassis (that will have to last the next 25 years). Just look at how much money went into the C8 chassis and look at just how much that car is creating havoc with everything else on the market. Nissan simply isn't going to do that until they're ready to throw everything into EV and toss the FM platform.
Good effort? By making a recycled car cost $70k? How is this good effort ?

@@7Roxer So much of it was Nissan's relationship with Renault. That's supposedly now recently reformulated to Nissan's favor giving them back control of their own future. Will have to see what they do with it but from a monetary standpoint I don't think Nissan will change course until they toss the PM and FM chassis for a new one designed around EV battery storage and hybrid tech. So maybe in 4-8 years... though the PM Skyline doesn't currently pass crash testing and was grandfathered in so maybe they'll think about doing that one earlier but... that's if Nissan thinks it's worth even having a halo car going forward.
Very hard for them to come back. They took the maxima away and that alone was their “attempt at a sports sedan” that should say where they stand in terms of budget. They’re basing this z off a nearly 18 year old platform. They’re lazy, low budget, and phasing out of the states
