All the preformance cars and trucks are alot. If you want to enjoy, then you have to pay. Even toyotas and stuff have increased unfortunately.
The biggest zonk is the gearbox. Z performance has a manual, but somehow they cannot implement it to the Nismo. It has the same chassis and engine 🤷

Yes, while the new Nissan Z Nismo is undoubtedly expensive for its segment, I can't help but see myself in this car more than its competitors for some reason. Not to mention, the prices of most cars nowadays are high so this shouldn't come as a surprise to people. It's simply the unfortunate reality of things.

I love the Z cars! Its definitely beautiful Joe but it is NOT worth that price tag or the dealer markups out there. I still see some cheap plastic and a lot of the same old material used in the previous 350z and 370z incorporated in this 2024 Z and the Nismo! 65k I would buy a Supra or just wait and save to get a C8. 65k is too much then tack on 15- 30k of dealer markups. Especially for the Nismo version. As soon as you drive off the lot you have a very depreciated car because nobody is paying anywhere close to even 50k for this

The only thing that is mechanically diff is the upgraded clutches and valve body plus tcm tuning in the trans otherwise with 7500 dollars u can take the performance model and blow this away

The Z Nismo seems expensive until you realized the Cayman GT4 is at 145k
Still kicking myself for earlier in the year not getting one for a little over $100k. The announcement that the GT4 is done sent the Spyder and GT4 through the roof

Got to see and drive one soon. Great review as always. Now that car does get my attention. I currently have a 2023 C8 convertible in black. Maybe next year a dealership might have one to look at. $65K doesn’t seem out of the question. It’s looks better then a mustang GT IMO. Supra forget about it. Can’t stand the looks of the Supra. Dark horse does no float my boat after owning several C8’s over the past 3 years. Too bad Jaguar is not going to bring a new F type. I had a 2020 F type SVR. Bought it used and boy did that car depreciate in just one year. $130K for $88K only 2000 miles. C8’s are finally seeing depreciation on 2020 models. For this price… it’s a no for me. Too much competition in that price range or cheaper. We need to see how this performs as well. I’ll save 10K and get a Supra or stay in this price range and get a C8 Stingray or Porsche Cayman, M2.

I made the same comment on another video, and got bashed by all the people that hate the looks of the C8. The performance just cant be beat for the amount your spending tho.

Huge missed opportunity... I own a 2018 Shiro White Nismo with stainless steel Armytrix exhaust system and I was so ready to buy the new Z Nismo but unfortunately they've missed the mark. Call me biased but the previous Nismo's are sexier inside and out and also sound much better than the new Z.

At 42k it makes sense. At this price it simply can not compete with other offerings from other manufacturers. The Corvette starting at 64.5k comes to mind.

13k more than the performance wow!! With a down pipe and tune your at 3500 get you 150hp easy!! Then some suspension upgrades like dampners and wheels your at 4k maybe! And I get to keep the manual that’s priceless !! I still have 6500 dollars to play with who’s cares about the seats…

Wheels and tires spec’d like this gonna run you 3k+ alone and the recaros are almost at 3k as well. pricing isn’t too crazy for what you get honestly, firewall + chassis reinforcement, stiffer bushings + suspension, steering wheel + seats, bigger rotors, better pads, better tire compound, gtr nismo style wheels, gtr ignition tuning, upgraded trans + oil coolers, upgraded clutch plates, and the nismo aero. Just wish it’d come with the nismo exhaust they’ve been working on and 93 tune standard for down here in Texas.
Everyone complaining about the price is gonna be upset when they see the M4 CSL 💀
The outside is gorgeous, but the inside leaves a lot to be desired for 65 grand.
If anybody else thinks they are getting this for anything close to 65k you’ve sadly mistaken. Your going to be looking at closer 75k -80k if your lucky with dealer markup. If this car becomes desirable then u could see them closer to 100k similar to what they were going for upon release for the regular trim.
Joe the real pricing is a minimum of 67,205 because all dealer ordered NISMO allocations were required to have mats kickplates and scuff guards factory options.
So any other color expect black puts the Z NISMO at over 68K MSRP for two tone paint. you knocked the review out of the park showing some honest enthusiasm! going to have a lot of sleepless nights until mine arrives in November

Joe after being on throttle do you think the new transmission logic would allow it to stay in 2nd in full auto for a AutoX course? I manually shift my 2023 Z now right at the first gate. currently the 1-2 shift in my 9AT can feel delayed at times like its trying to handle the torque

@@ju4121 life long NISMO fan. I own the serial #1 GTR NISMO built for the US and it's been a dream to have both NISMOs together at the same time. I had a 2007 NISMO 350z and really regret selling it 15 years ago
Truthfully, you're better off with an M240 with performance package or Supra...I'd rather the BMW comfort though🤙

this is what the initial launch of the new Z should have been.. At the price point this comes in at and thats not even counting dealer markup, theres Alot of competitors that can do it better on all fronts.... These changes, if it were sold at the current Z price minus the nismo markup, yeah that would sell really well but you know they wont do that!

I have a 2023 Z performance, I think I'd rather get a tune and upgrade wheels/exhaust which will probably be cheaper than the 65k. Not to mention the nismos will probably be impossible to obtain, and even harder to get at MSRP!
this is my plan as well. I believe I can squeeze 20hp more into the Z performance and look into a software upgrade too. Im going to view one next week and likely purchase

It could be a thought but as you even pointed out in the Mustang video the other day, that GT has more hp for example and that alone is a reason enough for me to skip the Z and also if I remember you said that it rides rough ? sorry if that's wrong.

Back in the day I had 92 twin turbo and before that a 72 Datsun Z. Love how this new one reminds me of both. Love the red striping, but that red one 🔥

For 65k, this makes the supra look like a bargain which tops out at 60k
It’s such a gorgeous car (more beautiful than the Supra). Don’t care that it’s a bit slower than the Supra, it’s not just about speed. This thing has style.
Another thing is that it wasn’t clearly faster than the performance Z in front of you.

In AUS its $105k which is on par with the Supra. Pretty much both a priced high and nothing close, go down 20k and you get the Type R, GR Corolla and Golf R. Go up 20k and you get the M2, AMG 45s and RS3.
65k for a 420hp Nismo Z OR used C7 Z06, ZL1, GT350, Hellcat etc etc . After dealer markups this will be selling for as much as a 2017+ GTR....

I haven’t seen any dealers with base z’s under 50k so I can imagine this at north or 75k which is definitely not worth
I can't believe Nissan went automatic after touting "driving experience" at the heart of the Z. The biggest drawback of the performance Z is it did not have the track worthiness of its peers. The nismo does, BUT THEY REMOVED THE MANUAL OPTION!!! Track worthy manuals are hard to find, and at $65k I'll need to keep looking at M2 or darkhorse - it's a shame, I love the Z otherwise, just not sure i can live with an automatic.

If I am choosing between automatics I would go NISMO! It is really buttoned up and dialed in.
U can get a base Corvette C8 at this price point and blow the doors off the Z.
z is a more practical daily imo, I’d feel like a jackass driving a c8 everywhere.
This vehicle doesn't look like a $70K US Vehicle. Very disappointing and this coming from a Nissan/Infiniti owner of several vehicles since 1998. Great review Joe.
I'm happy to see the improvements to the Z. I hear many the cries about a manual, but how many of these people were actually in the market? I also remember a similar reaction when Nissan launched the R35 GTR with no manual option, yet everyone loved the car and still race the hell out of it.
The only two issues I have with this car is the price. I think it is better priced at 60k and the the interior. They could have used the red accents from the performace.
Totally different cars...the Z is a small sports car, the GT-R is a GT car...
Totally different ethos...the Z is supposed to be fun, the GT-R is supposed to be balls to the wall, long distance fast...
Totally different transmissions...DCT vs slush box...
A car like this with no 3 pedal option is bordering on insulting.
The 9 speed isn't really a slush box compared to where they came from (the old 7at was fucking horrendous) but I agree. For north of 60k at this competition bracket without a DCT or manual I can't see anyone being eager to buy this

I actually have a GT-R. And a Z. I ADORE them both. They are AWESOME cars. My GT-R is right around 800hp to the wheels when it's on full chooch and is an absolute missile. Still taking down supercars for a fraction of the price. 🤣
But it's COMPLETELY different than my Z. I also have a 2014 370Z Roadster. It's obviously faaaaaaaaar slower, but RWD, 3 pedals, much smaller, much lighter...much different and also a ton of fun.
It's like when people bring up Mustangs and Chargers and Challengers and shit when talking about the Z...those are COMPLETELY different cars. If someone is looking for a relatively small, RWD, 2 seat sports car with 3 pedals, they're looking at cars like the Miata, Supra, GR, and the Z. Yet people ALWAYS bring up the Mustang, Camaro, Charger, Challenger, etc. Cracks me up. 🤣

The red trim looks very low rent and gaudy but this could be fixed with some vinyl. The front is a million times better than the ordinary model. The fatal flaw is that there is no dual clutch auto or manual, only a slush box that is not as good as the Supra or maybe a used Cayman for the same price. Also no magnetic suspension available.
So about 23k over base? I don't see the justification. And those baby fender flares should have been more aggressive

55-60k is Camaro SS, Challenger Scat Pack, Mustang GT, and Supra 3.0 range...up to 70k you can get a no option C8 Corvette...Nissan is insane pricing the nismo with these other cars

Mazdas makes some pretty cool cars too, the Supercharged Millennia was my favorite. But they discontinued it, so now im growing on the Mazda 6, the body is a little different. But it's still pretty cool, i like the AWD rumors. The rear wheel drive rumors sounds a little off, but yeah. An AWD feature would be pretty convenient.

If it was AWD like big brother i could justify the price.
Nissan had a real opportunity to do the Z justice here. By offering it with auto only, it makes the competition so much stiffer. I don't think Nissan understands modern manual drivers. Manual drivers for the most part ONLY WANT MANUALS.
I heard Hiroshi Tamura say the reason the manual isn't an option is because a manual Z NISMO would be slower than an auto base Z. YEAH WE KNOW AND WE DON'T CARE. There's no point without 3 pedals. By making it auto only, there are so many better options to buy but the competition reduces greatly if you offer a manual

Needs a manual STANDARD, considering it’s $65k . Gear selector area is to plain looking. Why no flat bottom steering wheel on nismo but it’s on base Altima? IMO, this vehicle seems to be an experiment. Key fob omg why? Either way, another great video 👍🏽
As a person that spent $42k on a fully loaded 2019 Mustang GT with every option and only 10k miles on it, the price of the Z is absurd, doesn’t even have heated and ventilated seats or electric seats lol
Eh this car is down nearly 300 pounds and makes the same power on a 93 tune, as for the seats that’s why the base model exists.
Track Weapon? We will see the lap numbers soon enough. The car is overpriced and likely still slower than SS 1LE and Supra.

As a first gen Datsun Z owner, this whole rollout has been frustrating. I've been waiting 2+ years for a standard Z with performance package and manual transmission at a reasonable price. All this talk about a Nismo, especially at MSRP, good luck with that. At 40K, this car is compelling. 50K with the performance pack, that pushing it. 65K + markup for an Automatic Nismo, pass....
Not worth the hefty price tag? I wouldn't purchase one at that price point.
I have considered the New Z. I like the Nismo but I would have to go with the 52k performance. I am pretty sure mark up is going to be 10k to 15k. Dealerships in my area charging 10k over on the Performance Model.
