    I always find it interesting to watch bushcraft videos from different countries. We presumably have very different upbringings and knowledge of wilderness. We swedes very rarely talk about survival situations. Many of us had parents that took care of the harvest of berries from the garden but also picked berries in the forest like blueberries, cloud berries and lingon berries. We also picked a lot of mushrooms. Any of us that learned from our parents can safely pick and recognise around 10-15 common mushrooms that we are secure to eat. In my parents life they where an important part of the food for the winter. I have worked with search dogs that are trailing lost pets. Often we are out in the large forests i Västra Götaland. Forests where you can walk 20-30 km to get to the closest forest road. In these searches my philosophy is the largest the forest the more first aid kit and larger knife i need. I also have with me some energy bars and things for making fires. I have a few times not got out of the forest before darkness and been close to need to overnight in the forest. With the help och pannlamp and strong led lamps I have so far not needed to sleep at a campfire in the woods in winter. When we are searching cats and dogs you have to keep your backpack light. Myself when it comes to knifes I first thrust my smaller knife. I have at the moment a a very well made custom knife that is as great as LT Wright quality. A fantastic ergonomi. In the back pack I have a Fällkniven A1 for battening wood if necessary. I also always carry a Bahco small saw. There more I do this the more basic knives do I take with me. I have more gone back to the knives of my child hood. They are lighter and often better. You all them Puukkos but allt the Swedish Finnish knifes are all based on the same tradition. Puukko just means a knife. A puukko is a smaller knife and Leuko is more a chopper. I have swedish knives in stainless steel that is perfekt. Cutting better than most knifesThe Finnish knifes is very often carbon steel and rost a lot.

    Love the gomeboy and your blade. I carry the same gomeboy but a BHK battlelore knife in O1 scandi ground not as high but not short sharp spine great dangler sheath with a firesteel loop bead blasted black micarta red liners in my opinion better than the wood lore for half the price though still exspensive at $268 but the wood lore if u can even get one same everything except the battlelore has a better non polished/ wood handle. I’d love if BRK would make more bead lasted micarta instead of slick polished micarta I like a good grip myself. I have the BarK River kephart in 3v with gorgeous curly maple handle and the Benchmade pukko in 3v but I have to say the very strong v grind with the blade style makes it fat behind the edge and I was very disappointed if they just made a Zero scandi grind it would of been an all star to bad they couldn’t figure out a pukko at Benchmade when every other company can in their class and below actually.

  • @hillbill79
    @hillbill79 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah i agree with you regarding the micro bevel mate. If a scandi 'needs' a micro bevel, then either the grind is wrong for the steel, or the steel is wrong for the grind. I'd go grind over steel any day. The grind angle is what makes a knife work well or not. I wouldn't sacrifice a good geometry for a fancy steel that doesnt work at said geometry.

    • @RobEvansWoodsman
      @RobEvansWoodsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
