Hasbro just recently released Deadpool & Wolverine figures which are based on a mature R rated film. Yet they still sold them for $24.99 each & are able to find at available retail stores. It tells you that McFarlane is taking advantage of the toy collector fan base with that Joker box set.
Nobody’s gonna pay that much for a figure but not just any figure a figure from a movie that just has a secret with a confirm that the first movie was basically BS the whole time
Saw another TH-camr talking about this earlier. He basically sighed and said “it is what it is.” When I pointed out how sad this was he bragged that he knew a guy that bought 2 of these things. Still not sure what his point was supposed to be. Coincidentally he spent a good chunk of his video trying to trigger drama with young Mr David here specifically. 🤷♂️
I could get at least 2 quality Mafex for that price, couldn't have come at a worse time either considering the failure that was the sequel..get the hell out, Mac xD
I like how some other pooptube reviewers are tearing this guy apart because he put out a pooptube video passing on this set. I wouldn't pay 10$ for it. Couldn't care less 😂❤
The item is $250 because WB and the director have stated any merchandise made using the license has to cost no less than $250 and that’s a revised amount. It used to be between $1,000-$1,400. This is why every officially licensed item costs $250 or greater. The statues are close to $750 and Hot Toys is $350-450ish. Mcfarlane didnt buy a license for this. Its part of the license he already has. Costs are ironed out per wave. You already said that more or less but close enough. Im letting Todd off the hook because he has to make this no matter what. The licensor tells the toy maker what to make or not what to make. Im getting it because I have the entire collection so it’s not like Im not going to get them. I hate the real world extras but as you said theyre included to help make the cost make sense. They should have fleshed out the Murray set and given us the stage and curtain like Hot Toys and the other chair(s) along with the Dr. Ruth clone that was sitting next to Joker. Throw in a floor and however many cameras were there and youve got yourself a masterpiece. Itll be up to the custom makers to make everything else. Todd has given us a decent start and now its up to us to make it shine.
I would've been cool with just the Arthur Fleck Joker figure. The Murray Franklin figure? Okay, I could take it or leave it. But I really didn't need the TV set and knick knacks, and certainly NOT for 250 bones. Nope. The excuse of the "mature nature" of the Joker movie being a factor in the price sounds like such BS. Hasbro is releasing Marvel Legends of the R-rated Deadpool & Wolverine at typical retail price for its ML figures, and that movie had a couple dozen extremely violent Mortal Kombat Fatalities in its first five minutes alone.
Not to mention McFarlane has released mortal Kombat figures for around $20 and that video game is the equivalent of an r-rated movie I own a few of the spawn figures from that line.
I'm still surprised how anyone would want to collect anything from this movie. He wasn't the Joker. We got scammed. It was a movie about a low IQ insane person that they threw a Joker skin on.
And HELL NO!! $250 for a total of 5-6 figures is still not worth it... Like I and I'm sure many others pointed out, we got 6 Batman figures and the working light for LESS!!! So no, there's no way they can justify $250 unless these were Hot Toy quality figures. I wouldn't even say Mezco quality, because their figures are usually a miss when they have layers of clothes like these ones would... Mezco's only work when it's a character in a spandex like suit. So it's just one layer of clothing and a very thin layer of clothing. Anything more or like regular clothes, they get to fat looking and it's mainly the clothes. They just don't look right sometimes... So maybe mezco quality if done right and not looking bulky and or hard to move because the layers of clothes. But 9 times out of 10 they end up looking like that kid in A Christmas Story, the little brother that the mother over dresses when he goes to school. That's what they look like and they can even pose right because of all the cloth...
I'm not too worried about whether there'll be a single release or not. I'm sure it won't be long until one of the knock-off manufacturers gets around to releasing a version.
From afar, this looks amazing but jjeeeesssuuuss. I like in NZ so these kinds of releases are extremely tough to get in my country but that price tag reaches the $500 range for my currency. These toys alone get clearance to around $28 in stores here. Insane pricing
For the longest time WB did not want to make merchandise out of this movie because of its mature themes. If they decided to let it happen and the prices for the license was that huge then no one should have bought it. If they knew that it would have to sell at such a high price where people would complain and most won't buy it then why bother to get it?
If they needed to demand the price they should have actually justified it by putting enough value in. A third or fourth figure and two more (cardboard free) dioramas. Something people actually want.
The thing that I find funny about the collector's edition that the price is justified because they have more stuff but there's plenty of $22 figures that have just as much stuff you're just paying for the name
Inart got the same deal as Todd (it WAS a expensive license when they acquired it) -meanwhile Hot Toys got off easy. It seems they lessened the previous restrictions put on the license. Probably because they knew they had a turd on their hands with Joker 2 which doesn't exist.
I love how I haven’t seen anyone in the comments mention anything about the licensing from WB, the likeness rights for both Phoenix & Deniro, and the royalties they’ll both collect from McFarlane because this set was produced. Along with the 4 1:1 scale props that are being included. Anyone saying $100 - $120 for this entire thing really doesn’t understand the financial side of what it takes to make something like this. It’s marked a Deluxe Collectors Limited Edition. If you don’t like the price, just pass on it and stick to spending $20-$25 per figure. Obviously this set wasn’t made for the budget collector. It’s also from Joker 2019 and has nothing to do with the sequel, people love to complain too much.
maybe you didn't get the point...if Mcfarlane was aware the licensing was expensive, they shouldn't have even made this set in the first place, now nobody wants 2 figures and a basic set for 250, which makes McF and the selected people buying it the real fools.
"Obviously this set wasn’t made for the budget collector." Just because I'm fortunate enough not to worry about sticking to a budget doesn't mean I'll just throw my money away on anything. I still need to see the value in my purchases.
If that is in fact a 1 for 1 of the hero notebook Then the price makes sense as that is movie memorabilia There was only one notebook for the entire movie and Joaquin hand wrote every page to get into character and explore Arthur and jokers mind… similar to heath ledgers. The notebook if full is easily worth $60-$100 as a collectible. If it’s a weak and poor translation of the notebook then yes it’s all a scam. I’d say over 50 pages Un before seen jokes and thoughts Pictures…. EZ worth it for any fan of the movie.
it feels like $100 collector set. at most, the extras just being trash. It isn't even the joker lmao, they killed what could have been a decent popular niche one off film. McFarlane should just sue if they could, get the license money back. I'll be a witness. The second movie is the killer for most people who would have got this. The studio killed what could have been a golden goose. I think if they had held to a single film this would have sold to much less finger wagging, possibly even at a lesser cost, maybe $150 to 200.
Was there anything stopping Todd from making the figures a higher quality than his standard DC releases to make up for the $250 price tag? I'm looking at the figures and all I see are the massive pins, giant diapers, bad face sculpts, most likely cheap fragile plastic, etc. For $250 he should be offering new engineering and improved paints, plastics, and accessories at the 7 inch scale. This set is a massive rip off and a complete slap in the face to anyone who was interested in this set.
This whole set is irrelevant, doesn't even make any sense. We know that he had to pay a huge amount to use Robert De Niro's likeness, and which is another reason. Nobody wants this because Robert De Niro is one of the most unpopular guys right now. Even if the price tag was $75, I wouldn't want it. I think they make the joker as a standalone figure is all they need to do.
I thought the movie was great... But that's just me liking musicals so I'm sure that's why everyone hated on it cuz it's not enough action like they were hoping for... musicals are fun get over it crybabies!😂
You do realize the first movie didn't have action in it either. People didn't like the second one because the story wasn't good not because it was a musical at least not entirely. Watch some videos on it there's enough videos telling you why people didn't like it. It honestly sounds like someone needs to get over the fact that most people didn't like the movie that they themselves like. Lol
Its a good thing this looks cool . 150 for all this if we go by prices that we have seen w/ a forced purchase of the stupid stuff we get . I used to LOVE this brand and I just plainly stopped buying the brand . Its hard for me to find anything to add to my collection . He just keeps getting smaller and smaller in scale which I HATE so much . You guys are lucky you got a response w/ a b.s. answer from Mcfarlane Toys on instagram or wherever they responded . Mcfarlane is a love hate brand that occasionly makes GREAT figures. The 2nd film really tainted the ip and any figures that could come from it . GREAT video David , See you in the next 1
There is no defending this. If it was a poly resin maybe worth price. Basic ass figures with cheap plastic diorama probably same quality as the Batman 66 diorama even 100$ is too much but expected 250$ is just McFarlane and his swollen ego.
250 for a Joker diorama that doesn't even have a real Joker. Just some dude in makeup.
Good to know that someone has the same thought as mine about this "Joker" 😂
I’m pretty sure Robert De Niro is the problem. He’d likely charged McFarlane Toys a fortune for his likeness.
Well, I don't see his likeness at all here so it must have cost them nothing.

This is more of a WB issue than anything. Show me any Arthur Fleck Joker figure from a reputable seller for less than this $250 price tag.
That “explanation” only does them more harm. Good luck Todd

Because if you take away whatever joker imagery that is there it's still a good movie about a mentally disabled guy.
true. they had their chance to scam people before the second movie, now it's too late.
The sequel bombed soooo bad that they need McFarlane Toys to help “recoup” some of that cost has been my theory lol. 🤣🤣🤣
If you HAVE TO make it $250 without being able to provide something worth that much, then just don't make it.
Todd needs a reality check
I haven't seen Joker Part II, sounds like they crapped on the first movie.
