I've had to contact them twice, and both times I was tempted to cuss the person out for talking to me like I was being an annoying idiot about my issue. I'm not even super sensitive when it comes to customer service, I don't need you to kiss my ass, but you don't get to be a dick either, especially when you're holding my money. There's just too much competition out there with amazing customer service, and if any one of those companies made this same mistake they would have handled it very differently and most people would have no problem sending the items back, not everybody obviously, but most people. Neca is insane and stupid. For all they know a porch pirate could have stolen the second one from the customer. They have no legal standing to charge someone for that, since the customer didnt even order the second one in the first place. Just make more. Turn that machine in China back on. Its not like they already trashed the molds. Also nobody paying that much is even going to want an item that has been back and forth all over the country. Most of the returned ones will have to be trashed when they come back. Big heavy items dont handly multiple shipments well. As far as banning people, that would be impossible. Maybe on their own website. But if you ever have ordered Neca product from Target, you may notice it actially comes directly from Neca on the return address. So what now? They will get those Target online orders and see a name on their blacklist and somehow cancel that order too? I would love to see them try.
I paid for one. I have not received it. NECA says I need to initiate an investigation with USPS. USPS says only the sender (NECA) can do that. NECA is now ignoring my emails.

All this makes me think is there was a major mess up and they sent 1000s to the wrong address. They should eat the losses and put them back in production and selling the extra ones after the fact.
The fact that they don’t just make more makes me wonder if they are allowed to do that under the licence. They could just be wanting to not be out the production costs and profits of those sets they lost, but if the licensor says they can only make so many that could be an issue too.
When you get unordered merchandise that might be true but this was ordered if they have your credit card information you ordered it you just got an extra one if that makes sense
It might be a lot of tooling, but the molds are already made. Yeah they’d probably be charged more than the original order because it’s under the MOQ, but that’s on them.

There’s no way in any universe they would ever get them all back. Even if 90% sent them back some collectors are still getting screwed over. They only way to make this right by everyone is to produce more and fix their mistake but clearly they don’t want to do that so they are just trying to damage control and minimize the problem either way someone will be getting screwed over.

If this was a mass-produced oroduct, I'd say keep it. NECA could just send out more. Thus, however, is a made to order oroduct. People are actively keeping something that isn't theirs. But.. if people opened it, I wouldn't want to have their used set. Id want a sealed set. Considering how long ago people got their extra sets, I doubt many are still sealed.

So its an error on their part yet threatening you acting like its not their error, ive only ever had something extra sent to me once and i kept it🤷♂️if your service is crap then thats their problem not mine and theyve lost out, atleast they'd learn a lesson.
Probably what should have happened is initially NECA email saying please can you return it via pre-paid shipping and you get a $100 store credit for your time. They don't include any threats at this point. Then after a month or so of time passes, NECA send another email to those that still haven't returned it saying if you no longer have the duplicate, (because you have sold it, likely for more than $300), or are unwilling to return it, then we will have to charge you for it at this point, (and that would be fair in my opinion as you have additional product of a high value item that you haven't paid for, you're essentially stealing it now), and anyone that does pay for the second one, at least NECA get the $300 back that they can use to refund the customers that have missed out, (it is bad for those customers that have missed out but at least they get their money back and can use that as a part payment towards one from eBay if they want the Lab bad enough which some will). However if you hold onto it, and don't pay for the second lab, (for example by cancelling your card etc.), then at that point, for those specific customers NECA will just have to ban you from ordering further products from them until the debt is paid. If much later on, the debt does get paid, then NECA can unfreeze your account. I think where NECA have gone wrong is threatening people too early, rather than giving them all a chance to do the right thing first, then the few collectors that don't play ball, NECA can threaten that separate group at a later date where the community will be less sympathetic towards those stragglers if there are many other people that did actually send their duplicate Lab's back.
That would have been a better process for them to take. But here is the problem: there are people getting these return emails that didn't receive a 2nd product. I am one of them. After receiving the Lab I ordered, my office moved to a new location 3 weeks later. If Neca shipped a 2nd lab to me, it would have gone to an address I no longer had access to. That's my scenario, but what about those that a 2nd Lab was sent to and may have had a package stolen. Since no was expecting a 2nd Lab or had notice a 2nd one was coming, a lot could go wrong. I already sent Neca an email explaining my situation, but as I am learning from others, Neca doesn't respond to emails. It's wait and see now.
@@3shieldsitrust694 If the package was stolen, then it can just be dealt with in the usual way. If stolen by a neighbour, that means the collector has to bear the cost. If it was stolen by the shipper with no proof of delivery, the shipper would pay. As for you getting the email even though you have only received one, it depends on where the evidence trail leads in terms of can NECA prove where these spare labs were shipped to? They aren't the best at responding to emails, but hopefully they start getting better at that and respond to you so that it all gets resolved amicably and fairly.

I've worked for cell phone companies and in this situation, they used to refer to the emails you are receiving as "laying the groundwork". They're establishing a chain of evidence. You will probably be contacted two more times with the second being a final demand where they say they will "refer this matter to law enforcement".

Right now I'm having a bad experience with them my Ultimate Shredder figure from them it came broken I sent it back to them they never sent me the figure back give me the refund and they've been a month already and they just keep giving me the run-around

Seriously! I can’t believe this is the response from both Neca AND collectors. Good lord, if I get my neighbors mail, that piece of mail goes back to him same day. With how much this thing costs and the limited availability of it, you better believe if this happened to me I’d be happy to send it back rather than take from someone else. The sense of entitlement from the collectors who received an extra sewer lair is embarrassing and I’m actually ok with Neca’s responses if this is what supposed collectors are going to be like. Their customer service may not be the greatest, but this is beyond petty. This is sad.

So its an error on their part yet threatening you acting like its not their error, ive only ever had something extra sent to me once and i kept it🤷♂️if your service is crap then thats their problem not mine and theyve lost out, atleast they'd learn a lesson.
This experience has been very revealing. The toy collector community is filled to the brim with people that think it’s ok to steal and lie.
Probably what should have happened is initially NECA email saying please can you return it via pre-paid shipping and you get a $100 store credit for your time. They don't include any threats at this point.
Then after a month or so of time passes, NECA send another email to those that still haven't returned it saying if you no longer have the duplicate, (because you have sold it, likely for more than $300), or are unwilling to return it, then we will have to charge you for it at this point, (and that would be fair in my opinion as you have additional product of a high value item that you haven't paid for, you're essentially stealing it now), and anyone that does pay for the second one, at least NECA get the $300 back that they can use to refund the customers that have missed out, (it is bad for those customers that have missed out but at least they get their money back and can use that as a part payment towards one from eBay if they want the Lab bad enough which some will).
However if you hold onto it, and don't pay for the second lab, (for example by cancelling your card etc.), then at that point, for those specific customers NECA will just have to ban you from ordering further products from them until the debt is paid. If much later on, the debt does get paid, then NECA can unfreeze your account.
I think where NECA have gone wrong is threatening people too early, rather than giving them all a chance to do the right thing first, then the few collectors that don't play ball, NECA can threaten that separate group at a later date where the community will be less sympathetic towards those stragglers if there are many other people that did actually send their duplicate Lab's back.
That would have been a better process for them to take. But here is the problem: there are people getting these return emails that didn't receive a 2nd product. I am one of them.
After receiving the Lab I ordered, my office moved to a new location 3 weeks later. If Neca shipped a 2nd lab to me, it would have gone to an address I no longer had access to.
That's my scenario, but what about those that a 2nd Lab was sent to and may have had a package stolen. Since no was expecting a 2nd Lab or had notice a 2nd one was coming, a lot could go wrong.
I already sent Neca an email explaining my situation, but as I am learning from others, Neca doesn't respond to emails.
It's wait and see now.

@@3shieldsitrust694 If the package was stolen, then it can just be dealt with in the usual way. If stolen by a neighbour, that means the collector has to bear the cost. If it was stolen by the shipper with no proof of delivery, the shipper would pay.
As for you getting the email even though you have only received one, it depends on where the evidence trail leads in terms of can NECA prove where these spare labs were shipped to?
They aren't the best at responding to emails, but hopefully they start getting better at that and respond to you so that it all gets resolved amicably and fairly.

So... ...what you need to do is delete your videos and send it back. They don't you to pay for it they want it back. It was not meant for you and it is not yours. If NECA go the legal route you could be in a significant amount of trouble.
Also, that message about taking it from another collector is not to help you have a change of heart. It's to establish intent. I've worked for cell phone companies and in this situation, they used to refer to the emails you are receiving as "laying the groundwork". They're establishing a chain of evidence. You will probably be contacted two more times with the second being a final demand where they say they will "refer this matter to law enforcement".
