That artist is very iconic for the Bronze Age of Batman. I personally haven’t read the night people, but I know the artist and that particular artwork is one of the most known that he made.
I can’t get over that crooked knee, I have seen many reviews about this figures with the same nightfall Batman body and nobody noticed that right leg that looks bad 😒
I love the colours on this guy. Shame about the engineering. If I was to get this guy, I’d just glue that cloth cape piece down. Makes one of the accessories redundant but the cloth capes do it for me.
You'll find that the same eye-catching effect this figure has will be the same when you check out Breyfogle's art. For the time, it captured both the real-world grittiness and metaphysical aspects of the Dark Knight.
Not even lol he says he wants statues he makes toys, these are the most toyish action figures labeled for collectors I've ever seen, he fails at everything he aims for with these figures, should've stuck to drawing
The cape issue doesn't bother me. There are ways to get around it and once you get it into a pose you like it will stay in place. I still think its worth picking up especially if you are a fan of the artist or the comic it is based on. Its basically that in action figure form. Its a definite pick up for me.
Great review. However, I don't think "gestating" means what you think. I think you were looking for the word gesturing or gesticulating. To gestate is to carry a fetus in a womb from conception until birth (though, metaphorically, an idea can gestate in one's mind until ready). To gesture is to express an idea with a movement, and to gesticulate is to dramatically emphasize an idea or intent with gestures and/or movement.
This figure looks great… but that’s it. It can barely pose, it’s similar to better ones we’ve already seen and how many people really care about the cape sculpt compared to soft goods. If it was a standard mcfarlane release I’d honestly like it more but the fact it’s 50 dollars for one pretty average Batman just kills me when for the price of two of these priced mcfarlanes you could get a Mafex figure that you will be infinitely happier with. I still LOVE my Mafex knightfall Batman and compared to this is just so much worth the extra cash. This is like what you get your little nephew who wants to okay with your Batman but you don’t want him to break it.
I get the comparison is tired and worn out by now but it’s just true. I get it’s double the price “of course it’s better” mindset. But if you’re really a Batman fan and have the means to spend money on a figure; (let’s not act like 50 dollars is cheap for a single figure either) cough up the extra cash and get yourself a definitive Mafex Batman, instead of something you’ll get bored of messing with after a week
Looks neat apart from the stability issues but I'm fine with just the first two versions of the Knightfall mold. Maybe I could get a second black and gray version and get it a custom cape. Also speaking of GameCube, this design kind of reminds me of how Batman looked in the Dark Tomorrow game, which stumbled so the Arkham series could soar.
As far as the gas mask goes. All you have to do is heat it yp in water get it real soft to slip over the top of the head. Angle the strap where it hilds higher on the baxk of the head. Once it's cool it will stay that way and it can be easily taken on and off from the top of the head.
To fix the top part from coming off all they had to do is make a long ball neck peg thay mounted into the middle of the shoulders. Slide the shoulder cap area and then use the head to snap down and hold it into place like a cap.
This is my all time favorite color scheme for Batman. I love the dark gray and dark blue. Usually I’ll prefer black and gray but when the blue and gray are this deep and match so well I’ll take it over the black/gray. I’ll get this but I understand why people have issues with this Bats
Strangely the colors are closer to Batman: Dark Tomorrow (a game that took design inspiration from Breyfogle and Neal Adams mainly) than any actual Breyfogle art
Great review. Instead of that Scarface head I would rather have an updated grapnel gun instead. I like the headsculpt but I will get an custom headsculpt.
Hey man! Love watching your reviews. New sub, 1st comment.......Bullseye batman, the new justice league task force batman, robin of earth 2, i guess, technically the platinum variant of task force bats. And as you said greyson. I also saw someone comment that the clock guy has the knightfall buck also. The list intenseifies!!!
He's in the top three most iconic Batman artists of the late 20th century. Like it's him THEN Frank Miller. If DC actually had fair rates, he could have survived on residuals just from the posters after the stroke rendered his left (drawing) hand as useless as your opinion. The entire time before Batmania II struck in 1989, it was Breyfogle carrying the title. Also weird as hell that anyone with a last name longer than a syllable makes you use a text reader like it's their fault you can't read.
Batman should have still had a neck attached to his body, and the capes should have slid down over his neck, then you put his head on to lock it in place.
I second that motion. By far not enough mafex reviewers on YT but the best is kaijudaddy because he lives in Tokyo and get to go in the store and show us the figures before we get a chance to get them.

@@CaptainHavfun-lp4ok I agree. None of the current joker figures honestly really suit my style. Idk why they don’t just do a more modern one or a Bronze age joker without all the gimmicks. I do like the new silver age one tho comparatively but still not quite perfect

Almost everyone seems to misunderstand this figure. It's less about the issue/storyline of 'Night People' and more about the historic run that Norm Breyfogle did on Batman at the peak of his 80s/90s Movie popularity. Sure, that cover specifically is iconic of the era, but moreover, Grant & Breyfogle were the Batman *Dream Team* in this period. They wrote and pencilled Detective and, later, Batman and Shadow of the Bat for a good few years on and off (1987-1995!) This was when the hype around Batman was unbelievable due to the movies (you had to be there to appreciate how insane the hype was - think TDK but x 10). So this isn't about an obscure retro comic. It's about a foundational era of modern Batman that set the foundation and tone for decades to come. Norm deserves some respect on his name!!!😐

I think the biggest problem is that the colors doesn't even come close to the comic's. The weird cape is the 2nd biggest problem.

Yikes. Who thought it was a good idea to release this with that cape issue. Amazing once again Todd thanks
Even with the flaws it's a gorgeous figure.

Too much cape ?? For comic book batman ??
I think you're exaggerating alot.

i said it on your stream before, but that grey is an obvious green, if you brighten it up its an unsaturated green, they couldnt use grey?
Mcfarlane should have looked at Mafex Knight crusader Batman. Just the cape doesn't come loose.
This and the Batman v Superman wave needed more time to get released, they have a lot of issues, specially that doomsday/superman 2 pack
Meanwhile the newest Superman figure: **gets a napkin as a cape**
