LYRICS:
Ashill's realm, power has been inherited; high power
Riches are divided, over the land of fires
Ashill's realm, power has been lost; ancestral lordship
Riches are divided, over the land of fires
Powerful lands, over the land of fires
The great land of power, over the land of fires
Powerful lands, over the land of fires
The great land of power, over the land of fires
On horseback, over the land of waters
On horseback, over the seas
Sun's ray, over the sky's cloud
Sky's great light, over the Earth's expanse
Heaven's high hall, raised on a hill
God's abode, never to crumble
At night, a river flows
A powerful day
comes after night
Sun's fiery wheel brighter than the stars
All night, the day's light
In the east
the sun shines
Before the day's end
And at noon, in the west
The sun sets down
Ashill's realm, power has been inherited; high power
Riches are divided, over the land of fires
Ashill's realm, power has been lost; ancestral lordship
Riches are divided, over the land of fires
Powerful lands, over the land of fires
The great land of power, over the land of fires
Powerful lands, over the land of fires
The great land of power, over the land of fires

BABBLE ON is
Created by Itai Guberman and Asaf Angel
Music by Neffex - This is Not a Christmas Song
Hello from Germany! Anoana is the protector of the earth, nature and everything that lives in it. A prophecy that people have been waiting for for a long time. Nordic, Celtic mythology from the Bronze Age. Ana is the mother of all Celtic and Nordic gods! Greetings Nephilim
Although the band does include Viking-era material, this particular song predates the "Viking-era" by about a thousand years. Ancient Indo-European and later Germanic/Nordic culture is vastly older than written history. Excellent reaction gentlemen!!
Heilung is life changing for those who have ears to hear. It speaks to the ancient blood within us all!
Oh your absolutely correct brings us back to a primal state
Did you notice that young and adult Anoana had antlers in different stages of development; even the newborn Anoana has antler nubs.
Remember, that we all are brothers
All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted
Yesss
I soo much like your reaction. Can I just add som points that are important in seeing this? The most important being that the child is born under an eclipse 0:56 (seen in background several times). According to previking believs they had very special gifts: hamnskifte (= the ability to change appearance), age shift (!), talking to animals, and healing as in when she heals the bird. The previking time and it's religion (more animistic than polyteistic) in nordic countries is much more female oriented than the religion in the later years (viking gods like Tor and Oden with all the everpresent masculinity... ) The language (proto-norse) they use is only partially known and therefore reconstructed (this isin part reposted from another reaction). The last scene is when she reunites with her totem, the muschosoxe
Have a look at their epic LIFA live at Castlefest concert; their first ever live concert.
In Maidjan
Alfathirhaiti
Krigsgaldir
Othan
Hamrer Hippyer
All from the LIFA concert.
Not Viking culture. This is earlier paganism.
I agree. That would definitely be the next step. They are a great live band. And their Castlefest concert 2017 is still my favourite. Krigsgaldr and In Maidjan are great songs to begin the journey. Thanks Dan, Asaf, Itai. 😀
Per Heilung (Means "Healing" in German) their music is called "amplified history" It's collective consists of Norwegians, Danish and German backgrounds. They call their concerts rituals, and apparently they are absolutely amazing. That being said, the song's "lyrics" are based on runes found on "Migration Period of Northern Europe", (300-ish to 400-ish+ C.E.) bracteate coins, which predates the Vikings. During this period, basically was fall of the Western Roman Empire and subsequent settlement of individual tribes I believe. In one of the band's interview, the only runes that were more-or-less easily discernable, were the runes/words "Landawariar" (you can hear it utilized about three times in the song) It means loosely "protector of the land". The high pitched singing during the beach scene is called "kulning" or herding calls. The native European Sámi people still use it in the North.
Most of it is proto-germanic. Proto-Germanic is difficult to decypher because it was a spoken language, not a written language. The stones you refer to are the almost only written runes in that language. The fascinating thing about these runes is they can be words, letters or even whole chants (chants like themself mean something. It is the letter "A" but also the word for "war" and the "blessing of the forest" - don't quote me on that it is absolutely made up by me now but you get where I want to go here).
There are runes that got partly decyphered but not even to its whole and others are completely unknown. We can only guess right now, and probably always will if nothing more comes to daylight.
The Vikings were part of it, and almost certain got these stones into the cycle but pretty much there is no substance in their lyrics. They could also spread in some mundane things into their lyrics but they sound good.
The "rest" of their lyrics is what you said. I just thought to chip that in to get some more understanding why their lyrics sound sometimes so over the place. It's a fascinating almost Dadaismic conglomeration of words that you don't even need to understand to really feel. Truly artistic without any understanding how weird artists can be. You can simply enjoy it without the feeling of being uninformed as the artists themself are uninformed.
Maria is a great singer no matter what band she is in. Check out Euzen "Judged By", she is the singer in this band too. Peace
Great reaction, however those are not the lyrics to Anoana. According to the band, the lyrics come from runes found on ancient bracteates and have not been translated.
BTW, Heilung’s music in Season 6 of Vikings (Episode 10 I think).
Proto-Norse
I have become a big admirer of Heilung because of their talent and respect for history, including the culture of those times. My ancestry is primarily British and Lowland Scot, which means Germanic. I am also a student of history and have a passion for understanding the past. When the history is 1500 years ago, that understanding is more difficult. This is the genius of Heilung - their ability to transport us to a long ago past and by that journey help us understand the people and the times.
Old saxons feel this sound.grettings from northern Germany
you should check out their live concert footage they are an amazing live act
Absolutely, I'm going to see them live next month in Greensboro NC.
Just subscribed. Their live concerts are impressive. "In Maidjan" would be a good choice. Maria Franz has an amazing voice. Got a ticket to see them live next month.
Protector of the Land
Heilung is absolutely EPIC!🥰🦇🥰 Greets from Germany
Great reaction I’m lucky to say I saw Heilung earlier this year. I had just heard Anoana when tickets went on sale here in Australia. I’m cannot stress enough that you must see them when you can. One of the most transcendent experiences of my life. Julia 🌈
Moin aus Schleswig-Holstein.
In Maidjan, live version, should be your next Heilung reaction!
They are so awesome live! Saw them 2 months ago ❤
Everyone miss the part when she revive the bird ! Just why .
Proto Germanic culture not Viking, Viking culture is in the Middle Ages. To add to that actually Vikingr is more of an occupation (cultural for sure) than a group of people, the Vikingr were the sea farers/raiders. But great reaction!
when you said you were hearing like almost a chant or w/e they put on rituals old norse/ proto germanic, Viking and pre-viking rituals
Not viking but much older😊
Little Anoana has gunfighter eyes.
Oh and regardign the last season of vikings. Björn Ironside was king of Sweden.Edit: he is actually considered the very first swedish king) He is sort of like our king Arthur as he is considered semi-legendary. I was so disappointed to see that they made him king of Norway in the show..imagine if they made King Arthur french like..
Yet another great reaction video guys. Intelligent and interesting conversation.
I'm guessing the tattoo/birth has something to do with the timing of the eclipse but not sure why.
ther is lot of artist and band that dose this kind of genra in diffret stils
we have Nebala ,Danheim, Eivør, SKÁLD, Wardruna, Gealdýr, A Tergo Lupi, Seiðlæti, Ankluz, FAUN. You like history, the band doesn't play viking music. The inspiration is old germanic, more nordic bronze age than viking
THANK YOU
I say this all the time
this is one of the tracks by heilung i like. in general it's too much costumes and bones for my taste.
if you want to discover some nordic vibes i'd reccomend to check out some of eivors more than phenomenal material. she is from the faeroe islands.
she also made music for the netflix series the last kingdom. here i would reccomend the main theme live.
but she has way more to offer, just to name two further songs to check out:
falling free at the old theater in tórshavn and
tròdlabùndin live from norway
Would the Viking version of The Who be Den Vem?
Lol...viking nature.this is what americans think.too mouch amazon and netflix.this is germanic tribes.long before vikings
Yes, we've been told. It's a first-time reaction and we're no experts. We just say what it makes us think of, not making any huge statements or big claims. We are also not Americans... at all. In any way, we loved the band and the song and hope to cover more of their work in the future. Thank you for taking the time to view and engage.
Matt, l like your comment
The name of this awful show should be Bikings, because it has more in common with Sons of Anarchy and especially their outfits,
but almost nothing with northern Germanic culture (which includes the Vikings of course).
