There’s something i haven’t seen anyone mentioning: Guilliman managed to give a role to the Space Marines in times of peace : The Tetrarchs . One of the reasons Horus betrayed is he didn’t knew what to do when the Crusade were finished and feared he was pushed aside or displaced like the Thunder Warriors. Guilliman cracked the code here , yes , the Space Marine are superb soldiers but if you teach them the arts of statesmanship, they become superb leaders capable of managing entire systems ( that’s what Guilliman did with the whole XIIIth , he created soldiers but also diplomats and men of state )

One of the most important aspects of the Adeptus Astartes, their superhuman intelligence and insight, is often ignored in favor of pure warfare, which is a shame. What I respect about the Ultra Marines is that they are a very well rounded chapter, they really embody superhumanity.

It's because people always search for flaws in other people. If they find someone or something without flaws they often become wary. Probably because it's makes them look weak in comparison.
Thats oe reason why Sanguinius is more a fan favorite. He has a flaw written into his character. Overcoming your flaws makes you human and is inspiring.
Being perfect in the first place makes character development way harder to compare to.
      Gulliman is kinda perfect.
Good in pretty much everything, defeating other primarchs on several occasions, a superior strategist and tactician, an outstanding statesman (the best under the primarchs) and he has lot of spotlight in the lore, including being the primarchs of the most famous and featured Astartes legion.

Also, If Terra were ever to fall, Which is highly unlikely but still a possibility, There would need to be a contingency. The realm of Ultramar is that contingency. I do not think Guilliman is doing it out of spite to his father but merely being practical with the situation the galaxy is faced with. As long as the humans of Ultramar work hard and produce what they need to, the Ultramarines keep them safe in return. And that all comes from the fact that they kept alive the traditions and way of governance that Roboute put in place all those thousands of years ago. People hate him unfairly because " duuuur, he's too normal, too boring, bring in the crazy ones like Russ or jagathai" They're not the ones the imperium needs at this moment.
He reformed maccrage, pushed back nurgle, reinforced the existing chapters, HE MADE IT SO TECHNOLOGY GETS IMPROVED AGAIN, building new ships destroying corruption in the imperium, deposing inquisitors, he's currently made a new organization who's goal is to make an accurate account of the history of the imperium hiding nothing, even the horus heresy
The best changes of all though are the changes in space marine recruitment, not only taking the strongest, but also those with different skillsets. He's also working to improve the lives of every imperial citizen! Clean water, access to food, breathable air, terraforming barren planets like Baal and adding water/oceans to improve lives, thats what its all about! His own words: " Why stops a man from turning to heresy and damnation if he's already in a living hell" life in the imperium is hell, turning to chaos...doesnt really change much...
The man did mistakes, everyone does, he openly admitted that making chapters was a bad idea, and he had to bend the rules and essentially make a new legion to push back chaos but he's learning and getting even better. He genuinely cares for the imperium while others were in it for glory and conquest (horus)
The model of maccrage is being used to make other systems better, less corruption, more education, happier citizens, safety for its inhabitants, nobody else could have done that.

      >The man did mistakes, everyone does, he openly admitted that making chapters was a bad idea
It was a good idea... just not for the time it was put into action in. IIRC, original design of this project suggested split into chapters after the end of the Great Crusade for easier policing of the big Imperium and hastily-rehashed plan did not quite suit what was actually required at this moment, despite still looking like a good idea.

I really am glad you made this video. As much flak as Guilliman gets, people fail to realize you need an Empire builder, Superb Strategist, and politician to get the Empire back on the right foot. Every Primarch is awesome, but what you need is someone that can plan far ahead... Even on a macro level. On many different fronts and facets of development.
I dont think people even appreciate the true concept and idea of the Primaris. Guilliman was so ingenious that he started a project over 10,000 years ago and once released is on par if not greater than anything chaos or xenos has to offer. Damn! Thats some forward thinking.

Compare this to Guilliman and Dorn, the former was an absolute ass no doubt, he was haughty and demanded nothing less than complete control and obedience, especially from an outsider's perspective. Consequently he came across as this prideful, stuck up king or noble that you really wanted to punch. Yet at the same time, he was deep down, a man who believed, more so than any other Primarch save Sanguinius that humanity could do great things if given the chance. He was, contrary to his cold, aloof and analytical attitude, a man who is quite emotional and prone to melancholy as seen in Betrayer, Unremembered Empire and Dark Imperium. • @Keemperor40K

In order, the ones who should return are Dorn, to secure and fortify, Russ, to prosecute and kill, Vulkan, to bring a Human touch and a much needed spark of technological advancement, Corax, to hunt down the enemies in the dark places, Jaghtai, to follow the enemy and see it destroyed no matter how far it goes and last the Lion, for when all the enemies are gone, only beasts remain and those are the beast hunters favorite prey.

The more recent Dark Angels stories hint that Luthor is free and gathering a Fallen Legion somewhere and that maybe, just maybe, Lion is already awake and headed there. Also, Corax is still around in the Eye as a sort-of-daemon-Primarch (but still loyal) and recently had a tussle with Lorgar. So two of the loyalist Primarchs are semi-confirmed to be back, just not publicly.
I've been saying over and over that Lion is the best to bring back now because BobbyG can handle him the same way Karl Franz handled Valten. There's no warhammer, but maybe FINALLY get Cipher to hand over the sword, fix it, then hand it over to Lion and tell him to take the damn sword and go cross the Cicatrix and fix up that side of the Imperium, which should be the perfect job for him. Oh, and let him reform the full-strength Dark Angels Legion so we can play 30K-style games in the 40K setting.

    • @Keemperor40K
      @Keemperor40K 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@andrewsuryali8540 Yes, The Imperium Nihilus is indeed little different from Caliban back when it was just a forest, but on a much larger scale.
That being said, the Lion has always been the Primarch with the most naked ambition of all and the least capable of effectively communicating it, while at the same time being the single greatest military strategist and tactician of all the Primarch. His interpersonal skills and ability to communicate sadly where completely non-existent.
The Lion could read a war on any scale better than any of his brothers, but he could never read any of those around him or understand how best to make the best use of their personalities or effectively motivate them.
With that out of the way however, there is a reason why the Legions where disbanded, and while Guilliman is contemplating addendums to his original numbers, the original reason for the split is still as valid today as it was back when he first made it.
This is something that will drive a big wedge between the two brothers and will be one more part of a conflict that could create a second Imperial Civil war at a time the Imperium can ill afford it.

    • @andrewsuryali8540
      @andrewsuryali8540 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Keemperor40K It's been canon for a while that:
      1. The Dark Angels never actually broke up. The Inner Circle of the Fallen still functions exactly like the Legion's Inner Circle. They're still a Legion, just not publicly. That's why if Lion came back the Legion would simply reform around him, or rather just make it public that the Dark Angels never actually broke up in the first place.
      2. Luthor is out there gathering a Legion-sized force of the Fallen. This is a hint from GW that they're contemplating a Legion-sized DA campaign similar to what they tried to do with Blood Angels before when all the major successor chapters were gathered at Baal.
BobbyG may think he had reasons for breaking up the Legions, but all three Primarchs already hinted or confirmed to be coming back would beg to differ. Lion still has his Legion anyway, Corax didn't like the idea back then but was forced to accept because he didn't have enough Marines to keep a Legion anyway, and Russ thinks the Codex is toilet paper.
In any case, 30K's success proves that the player base likes Legion play and it makes more money for GW if armies could grow larger.

Charlie Hunt it’s mostly due to some of the older writing for them. One of the writers, Matt Ward, made them into a bit of a Mary Sue chapter. There was a lot of lame writing surrounding them talking about how they were the best space marines ever and the model space marine chapter. Them being “tha best” without being actually interesting made them a bit obnoxious and attracted a lot of hate. Nowadays their writing is better but not enough to drive the old hate off.

@@l0b5terlick55 It's also not fair to blame Matt Ward. Granted he was a really lousy writer, but the directive to "sell" Ultramarines came from GW and Ward simply did his (admittedly sucky) best. Where Matt Ward really fucked up was in elevating Guilliman by deprecating the other Primarchs when he wrote that other Legions' successor chapters exalted Guilliman over their own Primarchs. He was basically doing okay until he triggered fan rebellion with that particularly bad idea.

This was a great story dude! Before I actually got into the hobby I started listening to lore videos and I love everything I hear about guilliman. This was before I went into games workshop for the first time I was unaware that the ultramarines were plastered over every box cover and were the main gw faction in a sense when I listened to the lore I though man this guys a bad ass that’s the army I’m making. That was 1 year ago and I’m currently listening to ultra marines lore while painting guilliman abd he’s turning out great! I have just under 12 hours into both legs this is going to be a long haul

For the current state of the Imperium he's what is needed. He is a great administrator and builder of empires (as proven by Ultramar). The next Primarch we need is either Dorn to fortify the Imperium or Vulkan to create more tech.
As a side note we could have Russ return, potentially due to the Start Collecting Space Wolves and Thousand Sons boxsets.

It's funny to think that Guilliman managed what the emperor failed to do, defending the imperium during an galactic all out war against chaos.
But to be fair the emperor faced horus and all the traitor primarch while Guilliman only faced two for now but still !
I do love also the way he acted with great heroes of the imperium like dante or pedro cantor, recognizing their father in them, dorn in pedro and sanguinus in dante, that must have been why he choose dante as the " emperor of the dark imperium " like he wanted sanguinus to be the one leading the imperium secondus ( even if he really don't whant to talk about that ^^ ).

Well, Roboute Guilliman is probably the best possible primarch to bring since he (as Valrak said before) is a statesman. He set up contengency plans before being injured. I really doubt Cawl would just hand over the Primaris Marines to any other primarch. All in all, Roboute is quite amazing as when the Emperor told him that the primarchs were nothing more than tools to him (a situation that would make Perturabo cringe like a bitch) he took it quite well.
