In America people don't see to realize that a "typical" African-American is mixed, of African and European blood since the times of slavery. Very dark skinned people in the USA are a relatively small percentage. Therefore when Americans are looking at the children from these marriages they are comparing them with AA's who are mixed! The racism in America just prevented the acknowledgement of this. If you look at people who are 100% Africans they are clearly different from AA's who are mixed. Henry's kids are lighter than him and darker than their mom. I think all people of all complexions can be gorgeous.

Where did all that European DNA come from if they haven't married white people in the 20th century? For 300 years America had slavery and an enslaved person had an economic value. If white men forced African women to bear their children their wealth increased. It's as simple as that. A group of African Americans will look very different from people born in Africa because most AAs are mixed but that is not acknowledged in America. Of course if you have 10% European DNA you may look much more like the West African people who were your forefathers & mothers. If your DNA has more European genes then your skin may be lighter. This is something acknowledged in the black community and if people prefer you because you have lighter skin than your brother this is called "Colorism". Spike Lee made a movie about this very topic called "School Daze". Not sure why this concept is a surprise to you. Oprah has lighter skin than Samuel Jackson. Michelle Obama and Beyonce have lighter skin than Whoopi Goldberg and Wesley Snipes. Don Cheadle is much darker than Usher. Do you think all the people brought in to the USA from mostly the West of Africa had such different shades of skin? If you go to Nigeria now you will find most people have very similar skin tone.

In America people don't see to realize that a "typical" African-American is mixed, of African and European blood since the times of slavery. Very dark skinned people in the USA are a relatively small percentage. Therefore when Americans are looking at the children from these marriages they are comparing them with AA's who are mixed! The racism in America just prevented the acknowledgement of this. If you look at people who are 100% Africans they are clearly different from AA's who are mixed. Henry's kids are lighter than him and darker than their mom. I think all people of all complexions can be gorgeous.
There is only ONE race - The HUMAN race. I pray that one day ALl people will learn that.

Where did all that European DNA come from if they haven't married white people in the 20th century? For 300 years America had slavery and an enslaved person had an economic value. If white men forced African women to bear their children their wealth increased. It's as simple as that. A group of African Americans will look very different from people born in Africa because most AAs are mixed but that is not acknowledged in America. Of course if you have 10% European DNA you may look much more like the West African people who were your forefathers & mothers. If your DNA has more European genes then your skin may be lighter. This is something acknowledged in the black community and if people prefer you because you have lighter skin than your brother this is called "Colorism". Spike Lee made a movie about this very topic called "School Daze". Not sure why this concept is a surprise to you. Oprah has lighter skin than Samuel Jackson. Michelle Obama and Beyonce have lighter skin than Whoopi Goldberg and Wesley Snipes. Don Cheadle is much darker than Usher. Do you think all the people brought in to the USA from mostly the West of Africa had such different shades of skin? If you go to Nigeria now you will find most people have very similar skin tone.

If he would have been successful in defeating England then he would have turned towards Africa and seized the territories of the French and English. Make no mistakes about this. And Hitler is still the most popular ruler Germany had, at least in terms of ratings. He settled many scores for the Germans. Don’t be fooled. The victors demonized him later but that is not Africans’ issue.
What I am trying to say is that the huge toll of that 2nd world war was due to the Europeans brutality they had practiced in the enslavement and the conquering of African peoples for more than 400 years. European bestiality practice on Africans was now exercised on Europeans by Europeans in that war. But what was the ultimate price? Yeah Africa.
Just to say that you should analyze history properly before drawing strange parallels. Africans are not like any other people on the earth. Africa’s situation was never like Asia’s or any body else’s. The late great John Henrik Clarke taught that Africa has what the whole world needs but what the world world is not willing to pay for. He rightly pointed out that one can summarize world history with the following:
“What shall we do with the resources of Africa?”
That’s a master teacher! All he did was to study the movement of all major empires of the world and almost all of them moved towards Africa to look for food and other resources. All the European scripts are of African origin. … In short, these Europeans got civilized in Africa.

I very much enjoyed the discussion and the way their mixed marriages are working out for them. The learnt lesson for me is important role of family and values we get from mixed cultures and similar they are. From this, I realize how important it is to take my family's view into account before making critical decisions that could impact them.
