2:20 I genuinely love Tony hawk. Not for the skateboarding stuff, but literally cause he’s got the “everyone knows me and no one expects it to be me” thing going on. His tweets crack me up and if I was ever famous I’d wanna be that kinda famous. Everyone knows who I am, but I don’t *really* get recognized much.
I'm with you. I always thought having people swarm you would be awful. If I were a public figure, I think I'd rather be able to pass through a crowd more or less unnoticed. I mean, picture Mick Jagger casually trying to drop into a coffee shop. Yeah, no thanks! But I'll bet Lady Gaga could take off her makeup, wear a scarf, and just... wander around.
In the 90s my brother’s lacrosse team had dinner at his house because they were nearby for a tournament and he offered to surprise them. The entire team being put up with another rich family he knew. Had a room mate who was a complete moron, but fancied herself a starlet in the goth scene. She was gushing the whole day before we were going out to see Crux Shadows live (the most popular goth band at the time), and about how she was their favorite fan. In the venue, I saw Rogue, the lead singer casually leaning against a pillar before the show. He was a pretty chill and laid back guy. My room mate walks right up to him to hit on him. She asked if he's with the band (cause he wasn't a regular she recognized). He chuckled and said "something like that." "Cool," she walked off cause her 'charms' weren't working on him. He caught me looking over and covering my mouth to keep from busting out laughing and winked. I could not WAIT for him to take the stage and start the show!

The story "give credit to the video maker" reminds me of an essay I had to write at university. I studied archeology and for the essay I needed some drawings. I'm pretty good at drawing. In fact, I'm an artist. So I drew the drawings myself. And I got 4 out of 10 points. The essay was okay, but the professor really didn't like the fact that I didn't give credit to the person who made the drawings. Which was me. In my own essay. I explained the situation, but my grade didn't change. I really hated this professor for the rest of my time in his course.

I’ve read some sci fi but found most of it kinda boring so I wanted to start again and asked in the thread if anyone would recommend it. I didn’t realize I’d replied to the author and she basically said “I wrote them, what do you think I’d say to that?” Not sure why I didn’t realize she was the author. But I got the books and they were good so I would recommend them. Glad I found the thread (and I can’t remember but I hope I apologized at least because I had been rude).

Even if you offer to put it in the contract they are 99.99% unlikely to offer you the job. My experience with that dates back to the 80's, so there might have been different reasons in your case, but figured I'd give you a possible scenario anyway :).
Ohh boy do I have a story on this subject!!! So back in middle school I was given the honor to bring a pet to school for a class. Specifically a class that was all about animals. The teacher there was like a close friend to me. Heck she even came over to my house once with McDonald so she could check out my chickens that I would talk about constantly. Eventually she gave me permission to bring a chicken so I brought my best behaving chicken I have. A Rooster name Autumn. He was the biggest sweetheart despite him being a rooster, and he was a big boy too but I knew he would behave well so we got a carrier and brought him to the class. Now I wouldn’t be in the teachers class until the end of the day since her class was last on my schedule so by the time I went in there I immediately went to greet my Rooster, taking him out of the carrier to hug. Now a lot of kids around this time hated my guts for reasons I still can’t understand and immediately tried to cause problems by saying “ohh you’re going to be in so much trouble”, “what are you doing with the teachers chicken”, “I’m telling”. Stuff like that. I didn’t care anyway and continue to hugs my boy until finally a student dragged the teacher into the room the moment she arrived and pointed at me saying I was messing with her chicken form which she responded with, “that’s her chicken so she’s allowed to have him out”. The class went dead silent as everyone realized their mistake and left me alone as I went to my seat with my rooster. Soon the teacher called me up to present Autumn and talk a bit about chickens. Basically taking over the class a bit as I went around letting everyone pet him. This didn’t last long as the teacher did have other things plan but once that was done everyone was pretty much allowed to do whatever and most of them choose to play with Autumn. He just sat down on a desk as everyone surrounded him to pet him. It was the best day of my life and it is one I will never forget. Sadly Autumn passed away somewhere last year. Fly high Autumn, I will never forget you

I stopped seeing him after a while. Then i found out Tom Petty died and looked up his cause of death. I also realized i had never seen his face so when i saw his face in the reports my jaw fucking dropped.
The old white guy who taught me some guitar and running down a dream WAS tom petty. Blew my goddamn mind, and i hate i never picked up on that till after he passed
1:17 PI= Principle Investigator. The lead researcher. In a university setting, they apply for grants to do research and hire post-docs and graduate assistants (and are usually the grad student's graduate advisor under whom they do their thesis/dissertation).

Casual reminder that the first computer programmer was Ada Augusta King, Countess of Lovelace, commonly called Ada Lovelace. Also, the first lead software engineers at NASA was Margaret Hamilton, following Dorothy Vaughan, the first Fortran Specialist at NASA. Additionally, the first compiler was made by a team lead by rdml. Grace Hopper in the US Navy.
A friend of mine, who organized a big portion of an event at a nearby club, showed up to said event and the woman checking names to make sure ppl paid and stuff said (in the most accusatory tone) “shouldn’t you be at home screaming at a video game?” (He looked a lot younger than he was) he says “no I’m here for the event” she says “Don’t talk to me like that, do you know who I am, I can get John Doe (not his actual name obv) here at a snap of my fingers” he replied, trying to keep a straight face “you’re right, because I am John Doe” At that point I couldn’t hold it in and started laughing

Absolute W to the guy who recognized Robin in public
I always love the commitment to pronouncing typoed words as they read.
In response to what robin said about “getting wokifide” at a coffee shop. I once had someone yell at me for eating a hamburger because of “animal cruelty”. I personally don’t have much of an opinion on the matter. All I will say is that if I want a hamburger, I will get a hamburger.
Tom Morello is so wonderfully chill here. 😎
3:19 It's because HE WROTE Men in Black..
I stood in a chateau, a lady walked to me, complaining like hell to the state of the chateau, then asked me what role I have in the movie filming there. I said "I am the manager of this chateau"
I will remember your voice for the small chance you end up in germany one day
The story "give credit to the video maker" reminds me of an essay I had to write at university. I really hated this professor for the rest of my time in his course.
i feel so bad 😭 totally unfair
Ed Solomon wrote and produced Men in Black and I absolutely believe some little twits said that stuff to him.

Re: MiB
The guy posting was Ed Solomon. The creator of MiB. Its as good as in the movie Back to School when Rodney Dangerfields character hires Kurt Vonnegut for a book report on Kurt Vonnegut and got an F.
I don’t remember what band it was, nor the member, but I saw a video of the lead singer (pretty sure) getting stopped by security as he’s heading to the stage. Several people tell her he’s in the band and instead of getting mad at her he tells her she’s doing a good job. Always thought that was cool.
Earth-616 Hulk is terrifyingly powerful, you got to account for the fact that he is a very tall, very buff monster that is made of pure anger, and then the fact that there are multiple forms that Bruce has held throughout the years, each an extension of the Hulk which are equally powerful if not more.
I hope I get to meet you one day Robin, you've been one of my favorite TH-camrs since I first found you in 2016. You seem so chill and I'd love to hang out one day
1:12 …it’s PI, not PL. PI means “principal investigator” which is the main responsible person heading a research project. In the case of graduate school research, your PI is usually also your thesis mentor

It's funny how some people can be scared of tiny animals like wasps or spiders or even mice.

I joined a thread on Twitter about Nnedi Okorafor’s book series, Binti, started by Okorafor.
My computer is now my favourite because I have a little EmKay with me at all times ❤
Another 2 hours of EmKay? Hell yeah!
1:06 I hate that. Although that makes me feel a lot better. Back in the day I had a few interviews that I was more than qualified for, if not overly qualified, but didn’t get the job. Never heard why, but it’s like “WTF?
"back in the day"👴
You're too good for the job, they figure you'll get bored and leave in 6 months, tops, and they're looking for someone long term, like 3 to 5 years minimum.
