    Thanks for the video man this is the best one I could find. I just ordered the omega tune for my 2015 5.0 can't wait to try it out. I always lock out 6th gear and sometimes 5th unless I'm on the highway. My trucks always had trouble going from 5th to 4th in sport mode like I hit a pot hole or something 😂 hopefully this takes care of it as well as the sluggishness of the trans in general. Absolutely can't stand how it acts right now coming to a stop waiting for it to actually go to 1st before taking off.

    This is a great video thank you. I’m still trying to understand how tuning and everything works. My question is, so I would have to buy the device and the tunes from oz. Once both are purchased do they upload the tune I bought to that device?

      The best way to think of tuning is your truck getting a new computer program that works better than the factory program. Engines from factory come pretty well dumbed down for lack of better terms. They run more on the lean side because of emissions, the timing is retarded (slowed) a bit, and shift points in the transmission are set for economy. So, if you want to get a tune you have a couple of choices. You can buy the tuner device and used a "canned" tune, which is a generic tune installed on the device that might produce a bit more power but is still very generic. You can get a custom tune where you would take your vehicle to a tuner and they would program individual parameters based upon dyno results. Or you can go with a custom/generic like the Omega tune by Oz. Their tune is custom in that you provide details about your truck to Oz (axle ratio, tire size, etc) and they provide the tune. Some tuner devices have wifi and the device will fetch the tune from the cloud. This is how I first obtained my Omega tune on my Bully Dog BDX tuner. Then, after you tune the truck by following the prompts on the device you can let Oz know if there's anything you want to change. Some like firm shifts, some want to soften some shifts in the lower gears, etc. Oz will make the changes and it goes to the cloud for you to install the revised tune. I'm 100% satisfied with the Omega tune, it really does feel like a whole different truck! Hope some of that helps!!

    So when you’re done with the installation process, you leave the tuner plugged in to the OBD2 port for the window display for all the guages?

    I know oz requires u to download ur stock map and send it to them. Did u do this step prior to recording this?

    Good advice about restoring factory setting when going in for service, particularly if it's warranty work. It's no secret dealerships will do anything they can not to honor warranty work. I'm not running a tune, but I did recalibrate my speedometer when I installed larger tires on my 2020 F150. I had to drop it off today for a transmission issue that should be under warranty. Restored it back to stock before I took it in. I'm not taking any chances. One thing people need to be aware of when installing these tunes...make sure your battery is well charged and in good condition. If you have a weak battery and the voltage drops too low during a reflash, you could end up with a rather inconvenient situation on your hands. Once the transmission issue is fixed, I'm probably gonna get this tune, mainly for the transmission shifting strategy. The 1-3, 2-4 etc. skip is annoying as hell. From what I understand, this tune eliminates that nonsense and has a much better overall shift strategy.

      Everything you said is spot on! The battery voltage, warranty crap, etc. I absolutely love the Omega tune. It felt like a different truck and honestly the way the transmission "worked" with the tune made it super enjoyable to drive!

      @@GearTubeTV How does the omega tune work with the different transmission modes? Normal, tow, sport, etc.. I use normal mode 99 percent of the time. I'm just looking to get rid of the horrible factory shift strategy, particularly for everyday driving.

    How did the cloud tune thing work? Did you previously load it with your laptop or something? You may have explained it, I was just skipping through the video tho. Have you done much towing with the tune?

    • @GearTubeTV
      @GearTubeTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the cloud tune, what happens is the device will access its own database through a wifi connection. In that database, the file is specific to the device based upon the computer in the truck. The device matches the numbers, says "hey that's my file," downloads it to the device, then it can be installed in the truck. It's a pretty sweet deal because you can do it all wireless through wifi. As far as towing - yes and I love it! The Omega tune changes parameters in all 3 driving modes (normal, sport, tow/haul). The tow haul mode is great because it doesn't allow the truck to go into 6th much unless you're on a long straight stretch of road. That way it keeps you in the power band for torque. Plus the downshifting it does to help you stop is amazing! Basically think of the factory tow/haul mode but refined.

    I got a jlt intake and it made my truck run like shit, so after doing some research it says it HAS to be tuned

    • @GearTubeTV
      @GearTubeTV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I forget if it's in this video or not but I ditched the JLT intake not long after. I went back to stock and had no problems, even with the tune. I wasn't impressed with the intake long term. Made absolutely no difference in my intake Temps, which is kind of the idea of a cold air intake. Well, ok maybe 10 degrees cooler at best. But yeah, I went back to stock.

  • @wadealley74

    • @GearTubeTV
      @GearTubeTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ordered the JLT intake through Oz Tuning at the same time I ordered my BullyDog BDX Tuner and Omega tune. I haven't been on their website in a while so I'm not sure if they still sell intakes, but at the time that's where I bought it. I hope you'll love the tune from Oz just as much as I did. Those guys really know their stuff!

    I have around 128k miles on my truck and want some more performance with this tune but I don't know if that would be safe for the engine or not? She's been a tank and haven't had major issues (knock on wood) so idk if the high mileage is dangerous to have tuned. Thoughts?

    • @GearTubeTV
      @GearTubeTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Kyle! The first thing I will say is the OZ Omega Tune is about as safe as you can get for a tune. Considering you have some miles on your truck, I would consider getting a good thorough maintenance appointment done. By thorough I'm talking transmission service (fluid/filter change), coolant flush/fill, oil change, and differential fluid change. Then go for the tune. While the tune enhances your truck, it doesn't do it dangerously. I daily drive with my tune and I'm up to 41,000 miles already. I have never had any mechanical issues. So, in my opinion, I think you would be just fine. You can also email OZ Tuning and either Ken or one of his guys will get back to you with some advice regarding your higher mileage truck. But in all honesty, I'm certain they will say you are good to go. Plus if you don't like running the tune all the time, you can always switch it back to stock whenever you want. I still switch mine back to stock when it goes for service, then when I get home I put the tune right back on it lol.

    Can you adjust the speedometer for large tires with this tuner ??

    • @GearTubeTV
      @GearTubeTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can. There are 2 ways you can do it - "user adjustable options" is a menu that displays when you're installing a tune; and "Vehicle Functions" menu item will let you change it as well.

      Sorry for the late reply... I don't usually respond to deceased terrorists; however since it was an honest question I'll answer lol. I waited for the tuner to arrive first but I believe if you are buying the device and tune from the same company like I did (OZ Tuning) you technically do not have to wait. Best to reach out to your tuner company to see what would be best. I know if you ordered from OZ, their customer service is top notch and they'll get you all set up!

    So is this better than 5 star tuning?

    • @GearTubeTV
      @GearTubeTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Derek! That's probably a debatable topic amongst those who have OZ and those with 5*. I think for an amateur dude like myself, the OZ is great for a nice performance boost but the majority of the improvement is just in how the truck drives. When it comes to specific HP numbers and dyno testing - I'll leave that to the professionals to answer which one is better than the other. Basically I am glad I went with OZ because of the customer service, helpfulness when contacting them about tune revisions, and the product (tune) itself.

    What do I do if I don't have cloud

    • @GearTubeTV
      @GearTubeTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cloud just exists, it's not necessarily something you have or don't have. The device does its own thing and knows how to access the files in the cloud. If you're having problems they can email you the tune file also. You save that file to your desktop computer and load the file onto the tuner device through a USB cable. I have a tune revision that wouldn't work with the cloud so they emailed it to me.

      @GearTubeTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely love the tune! No issues, running E85 regularly, and my truck still makes me smile when I get on it a little bit. The best part is still the improved driveability. I am not even sure how many miles I have now on the tune off the top of my head. I have 40,000 miles on my truck now. If you do it, you'll love it!
