@@andybub45 actually I have been blessed and worked really hard to own a business that allowed me to buy what I wanted fairly often. And starting with my first Ford truck in 1988 while I was stationed in Colorado springs until today , I have only had minor issues with 2 of my Ford trucks. So I have been very happy with the great reliability as well as performance and driving experience. But thank you for the response.

Extended range by the fob/under/chin method works by using the body as an antenna amplifier. The human body absorbs some RF frequencies and 'channels' them which is the basic principle of how touch-buttons work. By putting the remote near/touching a body part, it amplifies the frequency of the signal.

It is disappointing to see the new Ranger only offering this as an option. It should be included as standard at least on the Lariat. I hope this is not a sign as to the direction Ford is heading. I use the key pad all of the time and also, if you have kids, they can run out to the car and get something without having to ask you for keys and there is no way they can drive off.

    • @martinchen3838

The key code has a couple more advantages that I found out about - I used to have a hideout key for the house. Now I can use the key code to access the garage door opener. Also when hiking in a group, if someone gets back earlier than me (which happens often) they can get into the truck. The group really loves my F150 with all the room in the crewcab.
