Interesting to note that Belias, the Gigas uses the following attacks during his fight in Ridorana Lighthouse: Crimson Cyclone, Hellfire, and Time Eruption. Moreover, he also summons nails like Ifrit and even creates clones that charge not unlike Ifrkt's race car. Perhaps Ifrit is based on Belias?
I'm really glad I clicked on this video. I've been wanting to dive into the lore of FF14 more in depth, but it seemed like a huge undertaking as I'm not very good at connecting the dots all the time. Thanks for doing this!
Watching this video 4 years after production, and what's amazing is, although the some details of his predictions were a bit off, Ethys was over 90% spot on. We do fight Belias, not as a primal though, but in Ivalice. Good enough for me. We have yet to see Asicans and their link to primals, but since we'll be doing -their- job in Shadowbringers, we might learn quite a bit more about our dark antagonists.
a quick slightly related point i'd like to bring up, ablathia's spine probably isn't as unexplored as we might think it is, considering how most (all of?) the hellsguard are from a volcano/volcanoes in that same mountain range. i wouldn't be surprised but also would be incredibly happy if we got to run into that place in heavensward
The Chocobo card describes it as "vastly unexplored" and I've always assumed the Hellsguard to be a very small and possibly nomadic tribe, but you're absolutely right and that would be awesome :D
wrt them being nomadic, they've actually lived in ablathia's spine for a really long time; "The Lohengarde are a clan of Roegadyn with body and mind tempered by the unforgiving heat of the volcanic regions they inhabit. Believing the mountains of flame to be gates to the underworld, their line has for centuries stood vigil over them to prevent the passage of souls back to the realm of the living." honestly if we don't get to go there i'm going to be really upset, since we barely know anything about hellsguard and they're my favorite clan in the game D:
What if Belias is the focus of Stormblood's big Primal raid like Bahamut was in ARR and Alexander was in Heavensward? It has the story potential needed to carry the multiple raids assuming the Sons of Belial link to be true, and Belias is an Elder Primal which gives him the power needed to be able to drive a Raid.
Fantastic videos and connections through the lore. Personally, the Ivalice Espers from FFXII are horribly designed and if/when they are introduced I sincerely hope they are redone.
"Ascians as voidsent" boy did that theory not age well. Ah well, it was the best thing we had at the time.
fast forward to 2018 and we fight Belias in lighthouse raid

I really enjoy your videos! Thanks for taking the time to do these :)
Your story telling skills are amazing. I can't wait for your metaphysical series thing that you talked about briefly.
Wow, the call out for Fandaniel.
I absolutely love your theory of Belios being the primal of the Gigas.
i guess the vanu vanu and bismark chased out all the gigas eh ?
miss you ethys. wish you could of been active in lorecrafting during endwalker.

Lyn Bee I really hope we see them too, if only for some awesome Stygian dungeons...
hell yes
Thanks for the video! Interesting stuff here =)
With the revelations of Shadowbringers, wonder if "elder primal" is the same as the Ascians' "Guardian Force"?
Anyone know what the song in the background towards the end is?

I wonder if we'll see the other Lucavi o-o
So are there Gigas in Abalathia's Spine? I don't remember seeing any.
Thank you, for this
Thank you for watching!
Ethys Asher thank you for existing. Boom! The gratitude meter increased to critical status!
To make the relation between hecatonchires and belias stronger, hecatonchires in greek mythology were giants with 50 heads and 100 arms.
Very interesting.

I thought they were done quite well
