    I never thought the Lore behind FFXIV was so deep, right now I'm just noticing it out of pure curiosity but saw that there is not that much info for the past only the present.
    Lovely video!
    (this was done almost a years ago XD)

    The third nation in the War of Magi in FF14 is Mhach. This is confirmed in the Scholar post-50 quest chain. This is a pre-Belah'dia nation of black mages centered in Thanalan, responsible for summoning demons to attack Amdapor and Nym. In the case of Nym they were highly successful as the demon they summoned, Bitoso, effectively cursed it with the Green Plague.

      +DracoSuave And hoping he sees this, it is pronounced "M-ah-k" or "M-ah-kai" for plural. not Mee-ah-chee". Based on assume phonetics. But there is no "I" either way in the beginning of the pronunciation.

      +Mark Miles I've been pronouncing M'hach or M'hachi, similar to how Seeker of the Sun names have a slight schwa at the beginning. Haven't seen the Japanese form tho.

    This is exactly what I needed. I'm super into environmental lore and as a resident of Ul'dah it couldn't be more appreciated! Would love to see more on other city states or even other continents/countries if you are able to find enough info!

    This has to be one of my favorite videos of yours to date, to be honest. I absolutely love background history to games and all the lore that comes with them, and this just made me so calm listening to explain this.
    Could one of your next videos in this series maybe be about the Nymians, Ampadori, and Mhachi that took place during the War of the Magi? I'd love to hear your voice on these three groups! Not sure if you talked about them yet (might be the from your Amdapor Tour video which I haven't gotten to yet) but I'd love to hear what you have on them!

    Sweet video as always, Ethys. If you're looking for some ideas I may have some: How about covering lore or mythos behind some of the more noted monsters/summons/primals in game. You know cover their background as to their country of origin and why they were either revered or feared there.

    From as early as the starting cut scene Uldah is shown to be a seething pit of corruption and greed, a point hammered into us in by the 2.55 story line leading up to Heavensward. As such I've never liked the city or it's stories, but I still wonder if redemption will ever come?

    Egyptian descendants who worship a Greek god. Interesting.

    • @Siwyenbast
      @Siwyenbast 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      While FF14 may take it the Greek way, there is one of the Netjeru that cold be construed that way: Yienpu-Wepwawet. Though he is more a psychopomp of the dead, his other side is known as the Opener of the Way. Add to this the belief of the time that you could take your wealth, clothes, other stuff with you, and you get a decent representation for a video game. Obviously that is not the case with modern Kemeticists.*is Kemetic revivalist* :)

    I always love your videos.
    That being said, your assertion that the Elezen were the only people on Eorzea seems far fetched. Considering we know that the Allag Empire was at least ruled by a Hyur ruling class (the Royal Clones from the CT questline).
    Question: It occurs to me that almost all of the depictions of the twelve are either Hyur or Elezen. I find it incredibly surprising that the other races would so freely worship gods that are not of their race. In the real world there are so many different depictions of a holy figure such as Jesus that he is often depicted as a race similar to that who worships him. Halone is the only statue that I can think of off the top of my head that is distinctly Elezen, the rest are ambigiously not Elezen or Hyur or just flat our Hyur.

    • @StrikerTVFang
      @StrikerTVFang 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      niwaar Correct me if I'm wrong... but when he states the Elezen were the only ppl in Eorzea... I think he means in their era. Remember the Allag were already wiped out by this time.

    • @EthysAsher
      @EthysAsher  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fang Striker Pretty much. After the fall of Allag we didn't see any Hyur presence in Eorzea whatsoever (that we have sources of) until after the War of the Magi - so for about 2500 years. So when I say none of the "modern" races sans the Elezen were to be seen for millenia after the fall of Allag, that's canon... sorry for not making that "after Allag" qualification a bit clearer.
      As for depictions of the Twelve, my suspicion is that their cults are all native to Eorzea and were taken up by emigrating Lalafell, Miqo'te etc after settling rather than being imported by them from other continents. The first peoples of Eorzea being some kind of proto-Elezen/Hyur would explain this.

    • @niwaar
      @niwaar 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just find it really interesting that the concept of the later Umbral Eras and their respective cataclysms we see that these were not a complete wipeout of the people. Combined with the "royal eye" that was handed down through generations to be alive in the Miqote in the CT questline, There has to have been some Hyur civilization somewhere on Eorzea that survived. I'd really love to see/hear some lore come out about how this occured.

    • @StrikerTVFang
      @StrikerTVFang 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +niwaar also note that the Allagans inhabited more than just the region of Eorzea... So I have a felling millions of Allagans survived but were displaced after their governing rulers were basically wiped out.
