    How can you save an alternative route on a 21 Legacy? We have tried a number of time to switch to the alternative route and after we select it it does not save.

      You can save a destination, but that won't save a specific route.
      Something to try might be saving a route under "My Routes." You have the ability to save routes under that when you add stops to a route. That could possibly be something I could make a video on.

    Hi, informative video, thanks. How is the sat nav's voice control? And is the POI feature as good as Google maps?

      Thanks Adrian. My experience using voice commands with the car's nav has always worked well for me. However, there is a big difference between using voice commands with the car's nav vs using Google. For the car you have to say the exact voice command the car wants, you can't add words or leave something out. So if I wanted to find Starbucks for example I would say "Find Starbucks." When speaking to Google you can basically say whatever you want. So for Google I could say, "Show me the nearest Starbucks" & that would work, but if I said that to the car it wouldn't. Using the cars voice commands take practice so you can learn exactly what to say to the car.

    I have a new to me 2021 Outback. Can I get the map to zoom in so that I can see what lane changes are coming up and will it tell me when to turn like my phone google maps? Right now it just shows a map but like birds eye view and does not talk to me. If I pub in my iPhone, google maps will talk to me but won’t show the map, just written directions

    • @JasonJarrettUSMC
      @JasonJarrettUSMC  ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot to unpack there.
      Yes, the map can zoom in when approaching intersections. Make sure "Automatic Zoom" is turned on. You can find that in "settings>navigation." This is from the owners manual, "When the automatic zoom function is on (→P.207) during route guidance, the map is zoomed in automatically when approaching intersections or turning points."
      Next, the cars navigation will speak to you like any other navigation in other car. It will only speak when you are, of course, using the navigation to go somewhere. If your car is not speaking to you make sure the navigation guidance volume hasn't been muted or turned down. Look for that in "settings>sound."
      Last, Google Maps does have the ability to be displayed on the cars touchscreen. You must use either Apple CarPlay, if you have an iPhone, or Android Auto, for all other phone types. Apple CarPlay is preinstalled on iPhones, so nothing to download. Android based phones need to have the Android Auto app on them, which you can download for free on the Google Play store. Simply plug in your phones charging cable to the USB ports in front of the gear shifter & follow any prompts on the car/phone to use it.
      Hope all that helps.

    I have a 2021 Outback. I like the Subaru Nav (made by TomTom) because it shows what lane to be in and I can have a route talking to me while still listening to the radio. However, I have had terrible luck getting it to recognize addresses or businesses using voice recognition. I understand you have to use exact wording, I've been using "Navigate to" and then stating a business or an address, and it nearly always fails. For instance: "Navigate to Counterbalance Bicycles" brings up places in Colorado (I'm in the Seattle area). Typing in businesses or addresses works fine but is very cumbersome compared to voice recognition. "Navigate to home" works fine. Would using "Find" instead of "Navigate to" work better?
    Second question: Is there any way to turn on/off the heated seats with voice? I often want to do this while in motion and the touch screen is very dangerous to use for this while in motion, IMHO. Too many touches and you need to have your eyes on the screen while doing all those touches. I really, really miss knobs. The dealer failed to teach me voice commands, I had the car for months before I found out about them, and I was really hating the touch screen until I learned I could adjust temp and fan, radio etc with voice. I can't seem to find a way to deal with the heated seats though. Thanks

      Hello, some great questions.
      For your first question, to find a business the command to use is "Find (business name)." For example I would say "Find Starbucks." I have a video I did on voice commands if you would like to check it out. The first part of the video covers the 6, 6.5, & 8 inch touchscreens, second part of the video covers the 11.6 inch touchscreen, like what your Outback has. Link to video: th-cam.com/video/10ka6nFqPsE/w-d-xo.html.
      For your second question, you can't turn the heated seats off/on with voice commands. However, the 2023 Outback/Legacy does have a voice command that would allow you to do that. Subaru has said they were going to release a firmware update that would bring some of the features from the 2023 Outback/Legacy to the 2020-2022 Outback/Legacy. I can't speak if that is one of the features they will bring over, but I would check with my local Subaru dealer to see if the update is available in your area.
      Hope all that helps.

      @@JasonJarrettUSMC Thanks, I did watch your video on voice commands. I will try using "find" instead of "navigate to" for businesses and addresses. Your videos are very helpful, thank you!

    Is there any way, when using this built in navigation, to have the routing change based on traffic?

    • @JasonJarrettUSMC
      @JasonJarrettUSMC  ปีที่แล้ว

      The navigation is supposed to do that on its own. However, it gets the traffic information from the Travel Link app, which is a separate service that Sirius XM offers. If you don't have an active Travel Link subscription that can affect the navigations ability to route you around traffic.

      Not all Legacies would have the built in Tom Tom navigation. You can use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto under "Apps" on the touchscreen for navigation. Just plug your cell phone into one of the USB chargers in front of the gear selector to use it.
