    Recently my 2021 Outback GPS thinks I am over 100 miles away from my actual location. When I enter my home location, it starts from that location? zany suggestions besides a soft reset?

    Thanks for all your videos , I subscribed. Just got my Outback Touring XT this Saturday. How do I get it to always point the the direction of the car? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

      It resets each time you start the car. Just hit the little arrow twice for a "direction of travel" up 2D map.

    Can it find specific interstates? Can you ask it to lead you to a specific interstate

    Why does it not do auto dim for night time?

    • @SubaruOwnerTips

      It does for me. Put the headlights in auto, and turn the dash brightness dial down a bit.

    How is the 2022 version of this system? I hear alot of people complain about it, especially navigation.

  • @andyroo_jon

    Do you know if a Subaru limited without the navigation can be upgraded to a navigation factory head unit? Curious if it is just a plug and play?

    • @SubaruOwnerTips
      @SubaruOwnerTips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may be technically possible, but would be rather impractical. Multiple components would have to be installed or swapped out. A better approach would be to get an iPhone, use Apple Car Play, and use Google Maps. That is a very nice combo!

    For Ryan or anyone...is there a way to disable the verbal turn by turn directions other than turning the volume down? The problem with turning the volume down is every instruction results in the radio being muted and the navigation system is quite verbose.

    Love your videos-been a big help as we “navigate” through all the features on our new 2021 Touring XT. Quick question: does the display have a setting to automatically change to “nighttime” vs “daytime” appearance? We haven’t been able to figure it out yet! Thanks!

    My 2020 does not show maps or Jane navigation why? And can I get added on after the fact I already bought the car

    • @SubaruOwnerTips
      @SubaruOwnerTips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think you can add it after the fact. It is a factory installed system.

    I need a way to permanently disable auto
    stop start feature

    • @SubaruOwnerTips
      @SubaruOwnerTips  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am not aware of a way to permanently disable the auto start/stop feature. I am researching it and will make a video if I can find a way. For now, just hit the electronic defrost button. That will disable it quickly and easily. You will have to press it each time you start the car.
      Can you share why you need to disable it permanently? Maybe there is some other way to help.

      @@SubaruOwnerTips The engine shuts off at Stop Lights, Stop Signs, even if I stop for a few seconds, and is annoying. I prefer it to stay running. If the AC is on MAX it won't shut off either. Also in stop and go traffic (jam) it keeps going off and on.

      What happens if you plug an led night light in to the 110v outlet? I have done that in my ford work truck that keeps it running.

    My 2020 outback’s navigation doesn’t default to the north up mode?
    Every time I start the car it’s in the sideways mode?! Lol

    • @SubaruOwnerTips
      @SubaruOwnerTips  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should be remembering the last used mode. Are you using driver profiles or driver recognition profiles (there are two different kinds of profiles)?

    I have not been able to find out how I put a name next to the address I have entered so I can look for the name and not an address. Anyone know how do do that. Looked thru several TH-cam have not found where my answer is given.

      Can you share what you're trying to do? It might be easier for you to use the MySubaru app. You can send navigation destinations from your phone to the car using that app. The search is much easier to use. You can also save and name destinations for easy upload. The search functions for TomTom are horrible! It is one thing I wish Subaru could change, but my understanding is that they have a contract that prevents them from switching (yet). Honestly, the best bet is to get the concierge service. They can actually use Google Maps to search and send you a destination, which in my opinion works much better.
      The absolute best solution for navigation is to use an iPhone with Apple Car Play. Use Google Maps, and put it in to full screen mode (nearly the entire screen is used). It is vastly superior. We're talking night and day in terms of capabilities.

    just got my 2020 OUtback and am having problems with the voice commands for phone calls. Whether I do it thru Carplay OR thru the Starlink system, the voice tells me that it's not available for me. I want to make calls hands-free, NOT having to look at all the prompts. So far it all feels distracting and dangerous. Thanks anyone! Love the car, but.....

    I wish the auto industry would just drop this crap and go with Google Maps and be done with it and quite having to load a separate App like Android Auto. TomTom sucks.
