  • You must perform the steps in this video if you would like to avoid carbon deposits on intake valves, piston crowns, catalytic converter and always follow manufacturer's instructions before performing anything seen in the video.
    Stp pro series intake valve cleaner is a great intake valve cleaner to use. How to clean carbon buildup with Liqui moly valve clean or crc GDI Intake Valve Cleaner. How to stop carbon buildup on a GDI engine? You can't completely stop it from building up but you can make it significantly easier to remove.

      Two different mechanics have told me ecoboost motors have messed up their turbo with a valve clean product (STP, seafoam, CRC, etc.) because it gets too hot and debris can be an issue. What say you about that?

      Just take your time @@argentum2519 . No need to dump the entire can in one steady stream and overheat the turbos. Just use common sense.

      If your engine is VERY dirty, and you loosen up chunks of hard carbon, then yes, they can score cylinder walls. It beats the alternative of pre-detonation knocking caused by hot spots, failing valve stem seals, valves that don't seal properly, and other valve train & combustion issues. It's like saying... don't take a shower because you might scratch yourself while doing so ;)

    One if the best valve cleaners on the market. Had really bad carbon buildup and I used two of these and it really cleaned my valves and left a huge cloud of smoke after use. Worth my money 👍🏽

    A point to consider: a "huge cloud of smoke" does not always ensure that the cleaner is removing the deposits - the engine could be simply burning the "cleaner" itself. This gimmick works for brands like Sea Foam.

    Hey man, thanks for doing two videos of the stp. I saw it and was pretty impressed. So used it on my 2016 Mazda3 and a decent result. But I'm at 97k with good maintenance for all 6 years but only just recently started understanding carbon build up etc etc (last 2 years getting heavily modded and currently tuned ontop of everything else). That said, could I run stp again after doing it a week ago or should I wait "x" amount of time?

      Most are questionable, and its not the cleaner, its the fact that if a big chunk breaks off, it can ruin piston rings or if turbo’d, it can ruin a turbo too. Best to do it regularly before its bad.

    I used this on my 2017 Chevy Cruze. DO NOT follow the instructions where it says to reattach the intake boot to manifold after inserting the hose. The U shaped end of the hose is a soft aluminum tube and the Cruze intake boot will flatten it and make it useless. I had to return the first can I got because the U shaped tube was crushed and would not pass the fluid. With the second can I held the intake boot to the manifold instead of putting it back on, and it seemed to work fine.

    • @NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO
      @NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When people talk about a carbon chunk breaking off if you use a cleaner, they don't realize if you don't you would still have carbon break off. If you allow it to build up eventually something has to give. The main way to stay ahead is using as a preventive maintenance. Just follow car and product manufacturers recommendations.

    • @NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO
      @NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The carbon will have chunks come off eventually if it's building up .The best way is preventive maintenance using a cleaner before the carbon hardens to much. Always follow the manufacturers requirements.

    • @VenturiLife
      @VenturiLife 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bradleyporter5454 That's why you keep the rpms low while cleaning. Most turbo cars have an RPM range where boost comes in. You could also disable boost while conducting a clean.
      After doing the clean, usually worth doing an oil change also IMHO.
