Just as baffling is the landlord not at all worried he’s writing on his wall 😂

lol, well I'm pretty sure that's why he repeated the word "Crayola" because crayon is pretty easy to clean off a wall.

The reason Abbott told Costello to "do it right this time" is because this is the second version of the skit. Instead of it being about backpay, the original version showed Abbott tricking people at the fish market while teaching Costello the method.

Notice on the video that Costello is writing with the crayola on the wall of the rooming house! Great reaction. Other funny skits by Abbott & Costello are: Roulette, Handcuffs, Helping an old woman move her car out of a tight parking space, Dice, and my favorite is Niagara Falls where Lou is in a jail cell with a downtrodden old man.

What I love about this routine is that they are basically demonstrating a type of con artist scheme. (It's very similar to the "change raising" con artist trick.) But it's also very entertaining because as Penn Jilllette (of the famous magician duo Penn & Teller) always says: stage magic and con artists are not that different. They are both using similar tricks to fool you. It's just one of them wants to entertain you and the other one wants to steal from you. The landlord is being stolen from, but since it is fiction and we are not the victims, we get to enjoy it as a kind of funny magic trick.

Old comedy was some of the best. Mostly because they didn't need to curse or be perverted to make a joke humorous.

Abbott and Costello were headliners for a slew Universal movie from 1941-46. Most are watchable and slightly more than a handful are memorable.

As a lifelong abbot and costello fan,it is so nice to see first time reactions to these great routines. I recommend the videos of their TV shows especially the first season, it is chock full of great routines, look for episode showing the mad house routine and the episode called the music lover.

This is the anatomy of confusing arithmetic. New students can easily confuse the Tens Digit from the One's Digit - every young student goes thru this confusiong. This is such a great example.

Thought you two would enjoy this one. Many have suggested you watch a comedy movie of theirs called "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" (1948), but I suggest you don't for now. It's a comedy and parody based on several serious scary movies made years before it. To really appreciate the humor in it it's best to watch the following "horror" movies from the 1930s and '40s beforehand. These are enjoyable too and are considered monster classics: "Dracula" (1931), "Frankenstein" (1931), "The Wolf Man" (1941) and "The Invisible Man" (1933). People going to the theaters to watch the "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" movie would know these four horror classics very well, so you should too.
In the meantime for another good one of theirs, (that does not require any other movie to watch first), do "The Time of Their Lives" (1946).
And another funny one that's a musical-military-comedy do "Buck Privates" (1941). Lots of cool boogie-woogie and swing music! Enjoy! ✌😁

    Here is an old joke.
So three traveling sales men walk into a hotel and rent a room. The room is $30.00. The three men each pay $10.00. After they go to their room, the clerk realized he charged the wrong rate for the room they got. They paid five dollars too much.. So he gives the bell hop five one dollar bills and tells him to take it to their room. On his way up the elevator he ponders how he can give five dollars equally to three people. So he gives each man one dollar back and keeps the remaining two dollars. So out of the initial $30.00 that was paid, each man paid $9.00 times 3 which equals $27.00. The bell hop kept $2.00 which makes $29.00. So what happened to the last dollar?

Hey there! New subscriber here. I've enjoyed your reactions and have a suggestion.
Try looking up Overly Sarcastic Productions. It's a channel that does a lot of deep dives into mythology, story tropes, and history and they do it very interestingly I think you would enjoy it. And I would certainly enjoy watching you react to their videos.
They have quite a backlog, so if you need a place to start, I recommend these three:
    Miscellaneous Myths Aphrodite
    Trope Talks Nemesis
And History's Greatest Couples part 2
