This makes me remember when he talked about some of the motifs and stuff and I thought “hmm, maybe he’s interpreting it wrong?”before remembering that he literally created the show 😭
Jay coming closer and closer to the screen vibing to the music as he aggressively sings "BA-BA-BA-BA-BA-BABABABAP, BABABABAP BA-BA-BA BA BABABABA-" is an accurate depiction of EPIC fans.
Obviously Mr. Jalapeño did an incredible job writing him, but let's give Armando Julián his flowers for really bringing Eurylochus to life in all of these sagas. He made the character a perfect foil to Odysseus in so many ways. I'm definitely going to miss him going forward in the show!!

I really love Eurylochus’s voice because it sounds so confident and nice. I also like that in Mutiny that when he gets more angry all of the instruments in the background get more intense and louder.
I love Eurylochus so much, too, and after thunder saga, I've gone into full-blown analysis mode for his character. I have been contemplating how he parallels Odysseus and his character arc is kind of Odysseus' but in reverse with him starting out more ruthless to protect the crew but actually starting to greet the world with open arms after Circe and how Odysseus inspired that in him by saving the crew without the need for such violence and sacrifice and how him killing the cow seems to mirror Odysseus killing the infant. Eurylochus is such a fantastic and fascinating character to me, and I'd love even more from him, RIP Eurylochus 🙏.
He reflects Odysseus, but one thing i've noticed is that in his decision making he reflects negatively. Where Ody's decisions are generally the only correct option to move forwards (regardless of how they make him feel), the things that Eurylochus does are usually ultimately the *wrong* move. Eurylochus wants to raid the island and take the food (which would have lead to the men eating lotus). Eurylochus questions Odysseus infront of the entire crew openly and sows unneeded dissent. Eurylochus opens the bag and unleashes the storm. Eurylochus wants to run away and leave the men to die. Each time he makes or tries to make a decision he chooses *poorly* and this culminates in his invocation of Odysseus' phrase "I'm Just A Man" where when Odysseus says that phrase he ultimately makes the *right* decision even when it causes himself pain. Meanwhile Eurylochus invokes "I'm Just A Man" and then slaughters Apollo's cow, making the *wrong* decision that he thinks will ease his pain, but that ultimately dooms himself and the rest of the crew.
@@masterhazrondOdysseus' decisions being correct are sometimes the result of luck, even if not always. For example, the help he received from Hermes was crucial, otherwise he might have endangered the crew.
@@masterhazrondNow, the decision of sacrificing six men is not objectively the correct one, because while he is willing to pay any price to get home, most of the crew would much rather have their brothers live then to get home at the cost of their lives, because they are more personally connected to each other then Odysseus is.
I love Eurylochus. He was such a layered and interesting character. You even gave him the moral high ground when he turns to mutiny, which is rare for any mutiny scene. He didn't even kill Odysseous when he could! He knocked him out and called him "Odi" when he woke up despite Odysseous attempting to kill him. In fact, he wasn't mad about Odysseous trying to kill HIM. He was mad about the 6 men Odysseous sacrificed. His first lines were about food and the concern for hia crew...and he died a starving man unable to feed his crew...😢 He is such a tragic character!!! You completely upgraded him from the original version!
Yeah, even if he is a coward he has learned to stand up for his brothers ever since Puppeteer. I always felt like Odysseus' speech made him feel even worse than he already felt about the windbag, so it motivated him to not let anyone die. It was a turning point to his character just like the meeting with the prophet was a turning point to Odysseus
@@yay29823 He wanted to prevent death since Polites TT-TT. After what happened with the cyclops and Poseidon, he really didn't want to lose anyone else. Neither he, Odysseous nor any of the crew knew magic, so they couldn't turn the men back. He had no idea Odysseous could convince her to turn them back. His flaw was he was not nearly knowledgeable enough of this world to lead. He was too aggressive when he needed to be softer, and too soft when he needed to be aggressive. He was the voice of the crew, which sadly meant he was too much of a follower to take command...
@@ChasehaWing Oh Polites :( Imagine being in his shoes. He has doubts, so he opens the bag, and instantly recognizes his mistake but it's already too late. 557 men die because of this. I think after that, his guilt was so much that he doubled down on trying to protect the crew, especially after what Odysseus told him in Puppeteer "There's no length I wouldn't go if it was you I had to save" 😭. I know Polites had a strong impact, but I truly believe that moment in the Circe Saga was THE moment for him
The way I said "ELECTRIC GUITAR!!" like a small child answering a question and being all "haha I´m so smart" about it when Jay asked about which instrument backs Eurylochus up in Mutiny XD
Fr. So many said they knew it because of Puppeteer, but when that dropped I always thought he wanted to talk to him like he did in Luck Runs Out but in private this time. Like he really wanted to talk about his fears and doubts. I didn't see THAT coming 🤦🏼♀️ Baka.
Ive been seeing a lot of hate for this character since the thunder sagas release, especially on tiktok, and im so glad you made this. People call him a hypocrite, but if you look at WHY he said the lines in both puppeteer and mutiny, his primary motive for not just those moments, but throughout the entire show is putting the crew above the mission itself, which naturally makes him a foil to odysseus.
Except when he wanted to abandon the men pigified by Circe!! But I do agree with you otherwise he speaks for the crew - even in killing Helios’ cattle. I can also give him credit that he is willing to or it seems he is willing to accept the punishment for eating the cattle and not fighting against it the way some of the others were. (Based partially on animatics tbh)
@@feniaksfirings Actually, even with Circe, Eurylochus wants to abandon the captured/turned men because of the rest of the crew! One of his lines is "Think about the men we have left before there are none". He doesn't think that Circe can be killed or beaten, so he doesn't see a way to save the pig-men and is worried about Odysseus + the remaining crew being harmed by her.
You say he puts the crew above the mission itself, but the mission itself IS the crew. I don't really see how he can hope that just giving up will somehow lead to Poseidon giving them mercy. Him opening the bag did nothing to help the crew, he just doubted Odysseus' intentions for basically no good reason (and because of that he ruined their only chance to escape a confrontation with Poseidon). After that point of confrontation there was no chance of the crew's survival unless they managed to evade Poseidon, and he never worked towards that goal in any way besides letting Odysseus come up with the plans. While Eurylochus *in theory* cares about the crew, all of his plans and his actions were ones that would have lead to their deaths (and ultimately *did* once Odysseus was unable to stop him from executing one such plan).
I love how passionate he is about these stories and songs! You can totally tell just how much thought is put into each song and album by all the singers and the instruments! Its so cool to watch everything unfold
no the humanity was poly, he's just the voice of the crew which is also symbolic because the crew themselves are hypocritical in what they want to keep themselves alive which is why eury is all over the place as a character he was fine with leaving behind men before but not anymore. i will say arguably eury was willing to let more people die cause it was a whole squad but actually having to sacrifice people as part of your plan instead of leaving them behind is morally different idk, IT'S THE TROLLY
I honestly see it like this: Odysseus is the mind and smarts of the crew Polites is their heart, aka compassion and humanity. Eurylochus is the body and the necessary needs for survival.
@@DevilspadeEurylochus was willing to leave behind the men who had been turned into pigs because they had been transformed by magic that none of the crew understood. It may very well have been permanent and irreversible for all they knew. No one knew the danger until they had already lost men to Circe, so no one actively chose to lose them. Trying to save them would have put the rest of the crew at risk and was likely to accomplish nothing. In Scylla, the crew wouldn't have been at risk if Odysseus hadn't knowingly chosen to go through Scylla's lair. Odysseus knew beforehand that six men would need to die, and he did so intentionally. In the first case, Eurylochus is trying to save as many men as he knows how and he got upset when Odysseus ignored him and went to challenge Circe anyway. In the second case, Odysseus knowingly caused some of his own men to die for a chance to get home, so Eury got upset. Both events make sense for Eurylochus' character.
I just finished the odyssey, and Polites made it with the rest of the crew to the underworld. Why’d you kill him off so soon Jay???!?! Please make a saga for Polites if you make one for Eurylochus!!! Lore? Let’s find out where MatPat is and drag him over here!
Given Tiresias sees both Present and Future, it's entirely likely the chorus reflects events of the past and those that happen in the future (aka Thunder Saga).
In one of Jorge's videos, (having trouble find it now) he says that the choir singing is teasing the rest of the events in act 2. The first ones chanting "Siren song", "Scylla throat" , "Mutiny" , and "Lightning bolt", teasing the Thunder saga. The other chants hint at the other sagas but he obviously hasnt revealed them yet.
@@orion5914 They're talking about the chorus "I see a song of past romance, ect"! Theyre wanting to know if that was about the events in Thunder Saga as well.
@@Lariatt It was! "I see a song of past romance" - Suffering "I see the sacrifice of man" - Different Beast "I see portrayals of betrayal" - Scylla "And a brother's final stand" - Mutiny Though you could argue "sacrifice of man" is for Scylla, "Betrayal" is Mutiny and "Brother's final stand" is Thunder Bringer, which would mean Different Beast got skipped. I'm not completely sure, since "I see you on the brink of death" could be Thunder Bringer considering the visuals of Ody falling into the water with the others. But it could also just be the next song, as it's aftermath. Either way, the No Longer You chorus (and backing chanting) totally foreshadowed what happened in this saga and it continues to foreshadow the rest of Epic.
I love Eurylochus so much that he constantly evolves or learn from his experiences over the course of the sagas in a similar way to odysseus but at the same time in opposite ways, Eurylochus was trying to do things right, finding in his crew a reason to keep fighting, and Odysseus trying to figure out where was the line between good and bad only to realize that nothing is set in stone and that he needed to make sacrifices if he wanted to achieve his goal. In the end I feel like Eurylochus and Polities were a bit similar in the sense that they both wanted the best for everyone on a level where the only thing that motivated them to believe that it would work was hope. While Odysseus evolved to understand that he needed much more than hope to achieve what he really wanted, and calculate the value of things around him to find out if it was really worth it the price. Eurylochus couldn't have carried the burden of sacrificing even one man, but Odysseus had had to deal with that before.
Armando's voice acting and singing throughout the sagas was SO good! I agree with what another commenter on here said, he really brought the character to life! He carried Eurylocus' thoughts and emotions so well in his performance
I know that most musicians/ composers are passionate about their work, but man its something else to see it in their faces. Jay is so passionate and happy about Epic. I am glad that he's getting the praise and attention he deserves.
Eurylochus is my favorite character in EPIC, Mutiny + Thunderbringer was sooo good but so depressing. I appreciate how well you wrote Eurylochus’ character compared to what I know about his Odyssey version. I personally think he’s the best written in EPIC :) Also I would LOVE a Eurylochus prequel/DLC expansion pack lol
Any opportunity to hear Eury's voice again, his singer (I. Cannot remember his name for the life of me i just know his voice is probably my favourite) is definitely one of the highlights of the whole project and i hope he knows how much we all love his work
The "Danger is Nearby" motif comment made me remember that I looked through all the songs from this saga for it (since there was a lot of danger in this one 😭), and I THINK this is the most times it's shown up in a saga? I counted four times, so in all songs except "Different Beast" (but by that point, I was a bit tired, so I skipped through and could've missed it). It was just something interesting I noticed, especially because in some songs, I think it repeats showing different dangers in both Odysseus AND in his foe. This musical is so cool to think about 😤💙
@danieldavid3766 It's at the very beginning of the song. I noticed the same repeating notes and then the one that's held right before the danger appears (Siren Penelope speaking). As always, I could totally be wrong, but the pattern sounded the same to me, just with a different instrument/effect ofc.
The chorus from Thunder bringer is sung as the danger motif for the vocal melody! “Thunder bring her through the ringer/Thunder bringer here to wring your”
I actually find this so cool. The clever way Jay uses music to describe characters, and the repetition of certain motifs and melodies to pull the whole thing together is genuinely so interesting to me. I actually can't explain how long I've spent thinking about his music, and it's insane how clever Jay is with his songwriting. ❤
The fact that Eurylochus's main "instrument" is the crew's voices and how he feels like he needs to protect them makes it all the more heart breaking that he was the one to opening the wind bag which killed the most people by far.
I love how jay explains the songs like he didn’t just compose the entire thing and he’s just a super fan with access to the different instruments and stuff in the song
Oohh I noticed the guitar coming in at that part but didn't fully acknowledge how it was Eurylocus in charge! And the danger motif aahh so much big-brain work went into this saga it's unbelievable ❤
Eurylochus is a hero to fight for the rights of his men against his friend when his friend goes desperate. He really reminds me of the character Aguni from Netflix's Alice in Borderland series, only Aguni is a darkside version... Also, just the thrill you feel when Voices unite in a passionate outcry! It's beautiful and scary all at once and always gives me the goosebumps lol
I love EPIC, and I love the cast. So I really hope you either get paid for everything so far. Or you sue them for not paying you. As long as it doesn’t cost you more than the trouble. But in my opinion sometimes “it’s not about the money, It’s about sending a message.” Go full joker on them.
Have anyone else noticed that Eurylocus had a part in every single Saga except for "The Underworld Saga" As I was re-listening to every Saga up to the release of the Thunder Saga, I noticed his character was building up to something, especially his confession he never got to tell during the Circe Saga. Just thought that was clever that he didn't have a line during their time in the Underworld
I also see Eurylochus acting as the main voice of the crew. especially when they echo him. He's the voice of the crew to Ody in my interpretation, not just protector.
I love Eurylochus a lot, and since the thunder saga ⛈️ I've been fighting for my life defending him. Obviously, he's not perfect, but I think so many people are blaming everything on him.
I'm pretty sure when Eury sings its him being emotional and or selfish, but when he "raps", it's usually like a mission report or a situation where he "turns off" his emotion to be professional and a soldier. In Full Speed Ahead, he knows Ody is feeling guilty and is being gentle with him when he brings up the issue of food. When he's suggesting they raid a town, it's really just a suggestion. What he thinks is best for the crew, and what is the obvious choice to him- but it's not his decision. In Cyclops Saga, he has smaller lines. "I have to hand it to you both, this is quite the treat", and "where do we attack him" both being sing-y, but with where do we attack having more of the background beat. He's still following orders. In Storm, he has singing lines as well, but so does everyone. He's doing his best to follow orders and is trusting Ody to get them through this. (Bonus "Wut?") In Luck runs out, he's singing and trying to reason with Ody to be careful- appealing to his emotions on behalf of the crew. "We could be caught off-guard" line is more rhythmic, and it's where he's pushing his boundaries a bit with Ody. Then he swaps back to singing on "I just don't want to see another life end", another appeal to emotions, whether he meant to or not. In Circe, Puppeteer, he's singing when he's trying to confess about the wind bag, but he's shut down, and goes back to a firm "okay". When he returns, he's still singing, cause he's scared and rattled, but once he composes himself, he starts "rapping". "Since we left home"dadada"we are weak to a power like this", He's trying to be the one in charge in this scenario, to make the decisions, to hope Ody will just agree and go away from the island, but when he says "we have to go save them", and Eury says "no we don't", he goes back to singing. He's no longer "in charge" of the decision and has to appeal to Ody to rethink, by saying "lets just cut our losses". He returns to rapping on "I can hear her still" and "But you don't have to play", when he's trying to be more forceful with Ody, trying to get him to back down and agree with force instead. I can't recall any lines in Underworld, so... To the thunder saga! In Scylla, they start with talking. Not singing, not rapping, and Eury is just checking on Ody. Then he sings "I have a secret I can no longer keep", trying to be soft with the confession, appealing to Ody to be merciful with his decision, because he knows he did wrong by going against Ody's orders and he could be rightfully punished. In Mutiny, he's accusing Ody. It starts as talking, they're equals, but he shifts to singing when he begs Ody to justify his actions. He's ASKING Ody to be the captain and not the monster, and to reassure him. Once he knows that's not an option, he starts rapping "No can do- you miss your wife so bad you'd trade the lives of your own crew". He's on the offense, and trying to be the one in charge and make decisions. He's trying to BE the captain for the sake of the crew. He's trying to overpower Ody. When Ody wakes up, he's singing again. He feels weak and is probably asking Ody his opinion about the cows, even if he doesn't intend to follow those orders. Because as he's stated, "I'm tired, my friend". Then we get a fun part- Ody is singing an appeal to Eury with "please don't do this" and "reconsider", while Eury is following a more rhythmic, monotone-ish beat, he's not listening to Ody and is going to make the decision. In Thunder bringer, if I recall, his only lines are "Captain?" And "But we'll die". Both are spoken, because Eury has no power, he's heartbroken, and is still trying to appeal to Ody, but knows he has no say for the decision. Umm... Tldr: Eury raps when he's trying to be captain I guess- In my opinion. And also this is all from memory, I'm too sleepy to go over all the songs right now-
Yeah, I noticed the electric guitar in mutiny and wondered how that correlated to the story. I love these videos explaining the storytelling of the music
I love the duality of Luck Runs Out and Mutiny. Especially the parts where Eurylocus and Odysseus get involved with the gods. Odysseus asks the gods for assistance and they grant it, and then Eurylocus disturbs the gods, resulting in a plethora of consequences.
THIS! THIS RIGHT HERE IS THE REASON EPIC IS MY FAVOURITE MUSICAL! Every little detail has a meaning, everything is significant, there are no placeholders! Like how the start of The Horse and The Infant comes back in Monster, and it also comes back in Mutiny! The reprise of these small bits that seem unimportant at first is genius!
Not gonna lie, he held a special place in my heart too, and I hate the fact that he opened the wind bag. When I first heard the song, I literally paused my work, turned back to my phone in complete shock and yelled "NOOOOOOOOO!!!" Dang I'm going to miss him
Here's an alternative, have a Eury sequel where he has adventures in the Underworld. Could be an opportunity to do something new, and introduce Hades into the Epic Universe. Sidenote: I would love it if you just kept adapting myths for this one big "Epic" universe. So many stories to play with, and so many Gods to introduce. Could be a lot of fun-
The way you use music to identify characters is so cool especially in the thunder saga which has become my favourite i absolutely love your music and it brings me a lot of joy thank you!!
I Adore both Eurylocus and Polites as charactised in Epic and I would LOVE to see more of either or both characters. I did notice the guitar felt Wrong for Eurylocus in Mutiny, but this laid out exactly Why is felt so off. I also love his style of singing and how his 'intriment' really does tie into the one thing he knows about himself: He has to protect the crew, and he is Odysseus's second in command. I LOVE that about him. He and Odysseus's exchange in Luck Runs Out is actually Almost enough to make it my favourite part of the Ocean Saga with Ruthlessness inly just pulling ahead of it.
I can’t believe how much EPIC has grown! I remember when I joined the Winion community, it was just before the Ocean Saga released, although I did know what the musical was when the Troy Saga came out. Thank you for sharing your talent with us Mr Jalapeño!!
I like that he gets the piano in Luck Runs out because it almost feels like Athena is blessing him with wisdom in that moment. (And then it all promptly leaves his body to go open that bag)
i absolutely love these videos and hearing about all the choices behind different characters and how to make them work in a song, cause like, if you told me "well actually every major character gets their own instrument, and you only hear it during their hype moments" i'd think "these are going to be really busy and distracting songs" but no, they work so well together it's insane. Everyone involved in this project deserves so much praise because holy hell the amount of effort put in on things most people won't even notice. like Athena starting with a high tone mind, then embracing Ody's run, before going back to high tone when rejecting him. or these unique instruments
AN EPIC ORIGINAL ORIGIN STORY?! AM I DREAMING??! My jaw dropped--I CANNOT express how happy this would make me. Eurylochus has been my favorite character for the entire story. I tend to love the 'normal person' types (like Jean Keirstein from "Attack on Titan"); he's not a gifted tactician like Odysseus, a beloved optimist like Polites, or a revered hero like Achilles. He's just a man, trying to keep his his men from killing his Captain, best friend, and brother in law (curious to see whether that last bit would be canon in an Epic origin story) and his men from killing his Captain, only to snap and ruin that hard-fought cooperation because he finally HAS found a purpose worth fighting for--his men. And the moment he voices the doubts and suffering that have plagued them all for so long--the moment he reasserts his humanity--he dooms them all. Eurylochus is so tragic but so human, and I love him for it.
Eurylochus is one my favorite characters in EPIC! Thank you for breaking down the music he's represented with. Also, the fact that he feels lost but takes comfort with his crew really explains his motivations further in the story, especially in Mutiny. I like to think he's like a mother to Odysseus' crew. Also, I would love to see an origin story for Eurylochus and see why he's become the way he is, how he met Odysseus and Polites, how he courted his wife, etc. That would be such a cool saga! 😊❤
I would be SAT for a Eury origin saga!!! He seems like such a conflicted character (probably cause he feels a little lost) it’d be so interesting to see what he’s been through to get to the character we have in epic!
Eurylochus was so awesome in thunder saga, yes give us his lore! "Use your wits to try to say I'm crazy and mad!" Broke me, that and Eurylochus calling Odysseus Ody and his friend even after the fight 😭
The story telling you weave into the music is always so awe inspiring and I always find myself listening so closely to each song to see if I can pick up on these details!
I can hear Jorge yap about this musical for hours. It just makes me happy seeing him happy about this musical. Also lore sagas would sick for characters Eurylochus and even Circe.
I adore how you tie the motifs and use it to weave the story. The first thing thst struck me about Eurylochus was how his voice was dictated and melded with the crews voices to affirm his awkward position as second in command. Your attention to detail is beautiful ❤️
I love so so much how much recalling occurred with the thunder saga!!! all the call backs, the shoe on the other foot, everything about it gets me so giddy!!!
It’s such a marvel to me how much easter eggs there are in these songs! It’s so cool that Eurylochus kinda steals Ody’s instrument for a moment there. It’s very interesting how he’s not really grounded, he doesn’t exactly have his own instrument; so we definitely need his origin story😈
I understand the feeling of having that one oc that you just really like working with, (as much as he's not totally an oc but yeah), it's very inspiring seeing you talk about Eurylochus and how excited you get. Makes me happy to know that people across all types of creative mediums have these moments
I *almost* forgave eurylochus because of the musical storytelling. I noticed (after re-listening to the thunder saga many times) that i recognized the melody eurylochus was singing when he was showing Odysseus where the cows were. and it’s the same melody that Odysseus sang at the beginning of “Survive.” “My brothers, the rest of our fleet, they wait at the beach, and if we’re defeated, they’re good as dead” “This statue… the god of the sun, don’t know where it’s from, but here’s where we found all these cows to eat.” the two melody’s split off right there, though, because when Eurylochus says “Hunger is so heavy,” it instead matches the melody from The Horse and the Infant, specifically when Odysseus says “I know that i’m ready” Eurylochus and the crew members are about to die of starvation and are doing all they can to survive. And Eury thinks, the same way Ody thought, that he was ready to do anything, and in the same way, we find that in the end, he’s just a man. I say almost though, mainly because every time Eury doesn’t do what Ody said to in luck runs out (I need you to always be devout, and comply with this, or we’ll all die in this), ~93% of the remaining crew dies.
I love when Jay breaks the music down for us because I’m too busy going through emotional turmoil to realize how detailed everything is

@masterhazrond YESS YES HE IS LIKE AN INVERSION OF ODYSSEUS you put it so well I'm so happy to see someone else go into this thank you 😊
@@masterhazrondJust so people know, the Sun God in this case is Helios, not Apollo
His first lines were about food and the concern for hia crew...and he died a starving man unable to feed his crew...😢
He is such a tragic character!!!
@@yay29823
He wanted to prevent death since Polites TT-TT.
@@ChasehaWing Oh Polites :(
Imagine being in his shoes.
ITS LIKE WE'RE WATCHING DORA XDDDD
What Eurylochus said in Scylla broke my heart, I didn't expect him to do that lmao
Fr. So many said they knew it because of Puppeteer, but when that dropped I always thought he wanted to talk to him like he did in Luck Runs Out but in private this time. Like he really wanted to talk about his fears and doubts. I didn't see THAT coming 🤦🏼♀️ Baka.

I am madly in love with Eurylochus' entrance in 'Full Speed Ahead'. The bass! 😍 And 'Luck Runs Out' is my absolute favourite.
@@z33b33s True!
@@feniaksfiringsExactly!!!
Its so cool to watch everything unfold
he feels like the genuine humanity of the crew, yk?
no the humanity was poly, he's just the voice of the crew which is also symbolic because the crew themselves are hypocritical in what they want to keep themselves alive which is why eury is all over the place as a character he was fine with leaving behind men before but not anymore. i will say arguably eury was willing to let more people die cause it was a whole squad but actually having to sacrifice people as part of your plan instead of leaving them behind is morally different idk, IT'S THE TROLLY
All its humanity, including its idiocy
I honestly see it like this:
Odysseus is the mind and smarts of the crew
Polites is their heart, aka compassion and humanity.
Eurylochus is the body and the necessary needs for survival.
@@GalaxyEVioletonce poly dies their compassion does as well.
1:22 I don’t have the musical ear enough to catch all of these things but man when you explain them it sends me kicking my feet and giggling
I just finished the odyssey, and Polites made it with the rest of the crew to the underworld. Why’d you kill him off so soon Jay???!?!
Please make a saga for Polites if you make one for Eurylochus!!!
Lore? Let’s find out where MatPat is and drag him over here!
Short #3 of asking Mr. Jalapeno man if the Chorus of No Longer you is directly connected to the Choir at end of it.
Given how they line up so perfectly, It would have to be a massive coincidence if the connection wasn't deliberate
"I see a song of past romance" - Suffering
"I see the sacrifice of man" - Different Beast
"I see portrayals of betrayal" - Scylla
"And a brother's final stand" - Mutiny
Though you could argue "sacrifice of man" is for Scylla, "Betrayal" is Mutiny and "Brother's final stand" is Thunder Bringer, which would mean Different Beast got skipped.
I could only dream of being as talented as this man
If Eury gets a prequel album, I’d love to see Ctimene be introduced!!
I love how he sounds like me rambling about my hyper fixations…. EXCEPT HE LITERALLY CREATED THIS BEAUTIFUL MUSICAL-
“I have all this like- *lore* for him in my head!” -Jay and literally every creator ever 😂💚
Armando's voice acting and singing throughout the sagas was SO good! I agree with what another commenter on here said, he really brought the character to life! He carried Eurylocus' thoughts and emotions so well in his performance
I love eurylochus’s part in all songs, especially luck runs out.
You DEFINITELY should make a saga for him!!!
I personally think he’s the best written in EPIC :)
Also I would LOVE a Eurylochus prequel/DLC expansion pack lol
Everytime he shows up, it gives me a chance to fall more in love with his character ^^
1:53 truly poetic, well said Mr. Jalapeño
Any opportunity to hear Eury's voice again, his singer (I. Cannot remember his name for the life of me i just know his voice is probably my favourite) is definitely one of the highlights of the whole project and i hope he knows how much we all love his work
His name is Armando Julian
And it would be amazing to see a saga origin story of him (with Armando Julian as the vocalist, ofc)
This musical is so cool to think about 😤💙
I don’t remember it appearing in Suffering?
And he killed the cow
I love how jay explains the songs like he didn’t just compose the entire thing and he’s just a super fan with access to the different instruments and stuff in the song
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE AN EPIC EURY ORIGIN STORY OKGOGKGG
But in my opinion sometimes “it’s not about the money, It’s about sending a message.”
Go full joker on them.
I'm all for a "beyond EPIC" saga, where each song (or 2-3) reflects on the back story of each character (eurylocys, paletes, the prophet, etc.)
Have anyone else noticed that Eurylocus had a part in every single Saga except for "The Underworld Saga"
As I was re-listening to every Saga up to the release of the Thunder Saga, I noticed his character was building up to something, especially his confession he never got to tell during the Circe Saga.
Just thought that was clever that he didn't have a line during their time in the Underworld
I also see Eurylochus acting as the main voice of the crew. especially when they echo him. He's the voice of the crew to Ody in my interpretation, not just protector.
0:54 “which he does his best to protect” Mr Jalapeño said while giggling to himself-
I love Eurylochus a lot, and since the thunder saga ⛈️ I've been fighting for my life defending him. Obviously, he's not perfect, but I think so many people are blaming everything on him.
Damn, now I will be dreaming of Eurylocus DLC saga
I loved all the call backs in mutiny, it is like everything that has happened so far, lead to exactly this moment!
I feel like Jay could make a epic DND campaign from epic to either play with his friends or make a preset campaign
Wowowow we might get a Eurylochus short saga with backstory???? It’s a good day to have Eurylochus as my favourite caracther
(Bonus "Wut?")
In Luck runs out, he's singing and trying to reason with Ody to be careful- appealing to his emotions on behalf of the crew.
Umm... Tldr: Eury raps when he's trying to be captain I guess-
In my opinion. And also this is all from memory, I'm too sleepy to go over all the songs right now-
Very beautifully done though, props to you
Yeah, I noticed the electric guitar in mutiny and wondered how that correlated to the story. I love these videos explaining the storytelling of the music
I'm curious as to how to that correlated to the story
I love the duality of Luck Runs Out and Mutiny. Especially the parts where Eurylocus and Odysseus get involved with the gods. Odysseus asks the gods for assistance and they grant it, and then Eurylocus disturbs the gods, resulting in a plethora of consequences.
He was my favorite character man 😭 Armando did such a great job. I'm really gonna miss hearing him
Alright, i guess I'll listen to all of epic another 23 times
When I first heard the song, I literally paused my work, turned back to my phone in complete shock and yelled "NOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Dang I'm going to miss him
Here's an alternative, have a Eury sequel where he has adventures in the Underworld. Could be an opportunity to do something new, and introduce Hades into the Epic Universe.
Sidenote: I would love it if you just kept adapting myths for this one big "Epic" universe. So many stories to play with, and so many Gods to introduce. Could be a lot of fun-
The guitar fits so well in mutiny now! But i didnt catch that danger motif 😮 i love all the small motifs you add in the whole show Mr. Jalapeño!
Eurylochus is honestly my favorite character in epic
I can’t believe how much EPIC has grown! I remember when I joined the Winion community, it was just before the Ocean Saga released, although I did know what the musical was when the Troy Saga came out.

i absolutely love these videos and hearing about all the choices behind different characters and how to make them work in a song, cause like, if you told me "well actually every major character gets their own instrument, and you only hear it during their hype moments" i'd think "these are going to be really busy and distracting songs" but no, they work so well together it's insane. Everyone involved in this project deserves so much praise because holy hell the amount of effort put in on things most people won't even notice. like Athena starting with a high tone mind, then embracing Ody's run, before going back to high tone when rejecting him. or these unique instruments
I’d love a Eury side DLC album!! I would love for “Man of the House” to be on it!
I think a insight into eurylochus' character would be interesting, especially from you since you convey each character so uniquely
Epic made Eurylochus into my favorite Odyssey character (even knowing how it would go) so a prequel would be 🎉🎉🎉
Eurylochus is one my favorite characters in EPIC! 😊❤
i love watching people nerd out about the things they love
Epic the musical is so detailed great job m. Jalapeño
I truly adore Eurylochus so this is absolutely insanity and amazing to learn
I would be SAT for a Eury origin saga!!! He seems like such a conflicted character (probably cause he feels a little lost) it’d be so interesting to see what he’s been through to get to the character we have in epic!

Eurylochus was so awesome in thunder saga, yes give us his lore! "Use your wits to try to say I'm crazy and mad!" Broke me, that and Eurylochus calling Odysseus Ody and his friend even after the fight 😭
Absolutely love the rambling Mr. Jalapeño says when explaining his talents in music-making
The story telling you weave into the music is always so awe inspiring and I always find myself listening so closely to each song to see if I can pick up on these details!
But that’s just a theory… a Eurylochus theory! Thanks for watching!
I would love to see some prequel sagas for some characters like Polites
I understand the feeling of having that one oc that you just really like working with, (as much as he's not totally an oc but yeah), it's very inspiring seeing you talk about Eurylochus and how excited you get. Makes me happy to know that people across all types of creative mediums have these moments
I *almost* forgave eurylochus because of the musical storytelling.
I noticed (after re-listening to the thunder saga many times) that i recognized the melody eurylochus was singing when he was showing Odysseus where the cows were.
and it’s the same melody that Odysseus sang at the beginning of “Survive.”
“My brothers, the rest of our fleet, they wait at the beach, and if we’re defeated, they’re good as dead”
“This statue… the god of the sun, don’t know where it’s from, but here’s where we found all these cows to eat.”
the two melody’s split off right there, though, because when Eurylochus says “Hunger is so heavy,” it instead matches the melody from The Horse and the Infant, specifically when Odysseus says “I know that i’m ready”
Eurylochus and the crew members are about to die of starvation and are doing all they can to survive.
I live for how much time and effort Jay puts into bringing these characters to life and giving them backstories and motifs and reasons 🙏
I love how excited Jay gets when talking about his work. I hope that one day I’ll be able to harness that same happiness over my work
