Fricking Mathew Currie was going to Charge $200 for the piece. I ordered the same part off of Amazon for $40. Took 15 minutes to replace. I do thank you sir.
Thanks for the video. Just ordered that part for $27 + tax/shipping from Ford online. It's worth that much just to avoid going anywhere near the dealership, even if (which I suspect unlikely) they would do a simple replacement under warranty.
I found that the part is all over the internet for replacement, so it makes me think that these breaking is very common. My ST only has 14k and I weigh 185 and I'm not bouncing in and out, so I'm pretty disappointed that its already broken. The suggestion I would make about your video is that you didn't show how to disconnect the wire harness before pulling out the broken panel. One thing I would add is that the dealership told me that you want to be careful pulling on it because the wires will pull out of the harness pretty easily. One last comment, if you slide the seat up all the way, it makes it easier to work on.
Thanks for the suggestions. Yes this is a common failure, some people break both sides. It seems to just be a poor design, and your right, it doesn't matter your wieght, they just brake.
It was sort of a pain in the ass to get the hole lined up in the back of the seat for me when I was putting it back together. Everything was lined up as far as I could see. But it’s all back together and hopefully won’t have to mess with it for a while. 👍

Thanks - super helpful - changed it in 10 minutes with this helpful video. Note: my 125 pound wife broke it.

I'm light and still got broken. Cheap plastic is the motto of Ford, unfortunately 😕
Every ford explorer has this broken. Poor design.
@@bradleysteeves7891 yeah, shouldn't just be plastic tabs.
