Looked like an awesome trip, Dave! I was so sad to hear your show, and so many of my other favorites, was canceled. The Freiburger creations and its spin-offs were among the greatest car content on TV. Past or present. Thank goodness we all can still keep up with Freiburger's Royal Court of car enthusiasts on TH-cam. Otherwise, we'd all be completely devastated. Keep the videos coming, Dave. You're doing a great job! And, at the risk of sounding creepy, I can't help myself from commenting on your beautiful copilot. Mrs. Newbern is a doll! You're a lucky man.
I love Chantel's sense of humor!! She needs to turn up more often. When I drove 66 many moons ago, I was in THE coolest rental of all - my buddy's 1966 Shelby GT350H Mustang which was one of the original 1,000 built for Hertz's fabled "rent--a-racer" program. Boy, did we EVER wring that poor pony out!! IRRC, that was the first time I went over 120 mph in a car. Pretty cool experience for an 18 year old, I must say. There must be a half-dozen of those Wigwam motels between Barstow and Chicago - I guested in the Oklahoma City and Springfield Missouri establishments back in the day. Kinda sad to see Dickie's yard picked clean, but I'm glad a couple of his projects have been preserved. Excellent work, my Friend!!😎
Tonight, my husband and I are watching you guys on your trip. It is amazing and wonderful to see another couple just taking a relaxing trip together. Thank you guys!
Great vlog. Route 66 is on my bucket list, drove it last in the 70's going home from Navy. You and your wife look like your having a blast! Can't wait to drive it again. Safe travels!
In 1980 I drove my new Chevy Blazer from Indianapolis to Yellowstone camping all the way round trip no hotels and no time limits would just stop before dark at the nearest KOA. Took 13 days a great experience stopping in small towns on the back roads whenever possible. Good video
You are blessed to have a life partner that can share the same interests, or at least enough to realize that you know what you are doing and is worth the effort. Video and editing takes time and you guys are getting better the more you make.
1st time I saw Two-Lane Blacktop, I was 15 and we saw it at a Drive-in with Vanishing Point ...in a 55 Chevy 2 door post 150. 6cyl. 3speed Skyline blue w white top
I'm now an old man. When I was a kid I traveled route 66 literally t0 times. We ate at Roy's several times .what a great video . I have some great stories to tell about Oatman. God bless America 🇺🇸
David thank you for taking me on your trip down Route 66 I’ve always wanted to do that. I have been to kingman and flagstaff but that’s about it. Have a blessed Christmas and I’ll be waiting for the next video
Enjoyed your video! I stayed the night at Roy’s back in 1983 along with my UC Riverside geology professors and fellow grad students. It was a field trip to defend our thesis field work. We visited my field area in Lucerne Valley, along with the Marble Mountains and the Castle Mountains. Professors Lewis Cohen, Peter Sadler and Peter Schiffman. Grad students Mike Miller, Mike Lukk, and Dave Smith. Back then there were a lot of grad students doing field work in the Mojave. The night we stayed there we were all drinking Mickey Big Mouth malt liquors…got pretty buzzed. Dr. Cohen became an instant legend by breaking open a Mickey’s Saturday morning before we ate breakfast at Roy’s. We had dinner at the Baghdad Cafe on the way back to Riverside. Good times and memories! BTW…sometime in the 70’s some folks hauled a bunch of old tires to nearby Amboy Crater and set them on fire simulating a volcanic eruption. Geologists from all over So. Cal rushed out to Amboy to witness the “eruption”. Imagine their disappointment!
They’ve been piloting those Waymo’s in AZ forever so it always cracks me up when people are like WTF is that?! I pass like 3 of them a day on the way to work. What a fun road trip, thanks for taking us along. And as many others have said, so sorry about the show - crushing news all around but will keep watching the YT. Also new nickname for Dave, instead of 12 Volt Dave, U-Turn Dave 😂
I didnt drive much of historic Route 66, I was on the freeway, but driving the southern route from California to Oklahoma is scenic. Sacramento to Tulsa in 2 days makes for a long drive.
Awesome video Dave. Really enjoyed it. Been wanting to do this road trip for a long time but never get the time to do it. You definitely need to do more road trip videos with the misses. Thanks for the entertainment man
we have been on that route many times....We went to high school in 29 palms..That was a short cut for us to go to las vegas....Roys cafe is a pee stop on our trips back to 29 from vegas...awesome video
We just did some of that same drive about a month ago. Oatman, Kingman and a couple others are definitely awesome. It's sucks trying to see everything and still miss so much. Some of those little stores have some awesome stuff stashed away.
I'm planning a route 66 road trip in my 67 Chevy ll from Georgia to California with my girls if I can ever get the motor replaced. 😢 My Chevy ll was sold new in California in 1967. I've owned it since 1994 in NY, now in central Florida.
Thank you for sharing this, I am from the UK and would love to drive route 66 but unless I win the lotto this will never happen. I hope the sad news about the shows means we get more videos and maybe some with you and Mike back together as the 2 of you make one great brain.
America is full of such cool stuff. Route 66 is on the top of the list to do. My late wife and I were going to come over and do it. Now, unfortunately, it will just be me.
Dont miss the section of route 66 in (Twoc umcari New Mexico) it has the Bluebird motor inn. This section of old route 66 is one of the best representations of what route 66 was really like when in fill swing. Have a safe trip my brother.
That's crazy Newburn!!! A beta testing self driving car. That's awesome!!! I've been watching you for a long time now. Subbed since you started. I enjoy your content brother!!! I just became part of the NoNameNation family!!!! I'm excited to go Sept 2025!!!! Yes sir!!!!
Can you include her more. She’s much better looking than cotten or finnigen.😂(yea I’m sure I spelled them wrong🤷) but all respect you seem to have found a good one.
Great video, love seeing route 66 trips, wish we had something similar like that here in Australia as I doubt I'll ever get to experience route 66 for myself.
Wiw!!! There is some gorgeous scenery out that way. I'm in North Carolina. I don't see stuff like that here. I'm from South Florida. Don't see it there either lol!!!!
Looks like yall had a good trip. , I was wondering if you two were going to see batman, I went there in 1992 when I moved to Bullhead city and I remember a nice little pizza place in needles, brings back some memories, but things didn't work out and I came back to Indiana. But I liked it out there , God Bless
looks like you and your dixie land delight had a great trip though about half the USA.Ive only got as far flagstaff but someday hope to do the whole route.
She’s a big step up from Cotten!
🤣🤣
Cotten is poop. Forever will be.

Agreed
You two seem to like each other! Thanks for video'ing it.
Enjoy your video of Route 66 and also enjoy your shows, I would love to have meet you in San Antonio, love y’all’s 57s beautiful 🤩
I love this channel. This is what TH-cam felt like back in the beginning. A little raw, not highly polished, but very honest, very real.
I kept yelling at the TV, "David you're gonna get pulled over again, have you not learned anything!?" Dude, you are a magnet for the law!

Being born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma I have driven Route 66 thousand's of times because it runs through Tulsa.
I bought a 65 country squire in August and drive it home from LA to ATL down route 66.

We have a lot of the Waymo ( self driving) cars in the Phoenix area. It was trippy at first. Now it’s commonplace
I live really close to route 66 in STL, and there is a cool dive bar that has been around since the 20s. Buy you a beer when you get here.

I’ll find it and post the name of it

@ChantellStrickland thanks! We'll still make the dozen or so u turns a day like we always do but at least we'll know what we're looking at lol!
