    Wireless and Bluetooth on a turntable is bullshit

      Couldn’t agree more. It’s as of these people flicked through a price list of plug and play and tested on that basis.
      To be fair, this is the same criteria most people would use in deciding to buy a record player who had no idea how good record players can sound when set up properly and especially playing through a proper phono stage capable of revealing what’s actually going on sound wise.
      In my rig anything less than superb as a source can sound very disappointing indeed. In fact even highly rated budget kit can fall foul of such a rig. However, the difference in the quality of the sources would be very apparent and I’d expect the rega and project to excel compared to the Sony. The only shame here is that the reason for the rega using the belt speed changing method of moving the belt between pulleys wasn’t explained.
      That said I’ve heard projects sound good. They are by no means disgraceful in terms of either SQ or performance. Do in that sense this was a win for quality LP play back

    People need to take this test in context.This comparison is for people getting into their first turntable and just want a plug and play system. They all do good for their price range. Match the Rega with the same stylus as the project or play them through an external preamp and the Rega would be winner thats why it has been voted the best turntable for that price range. forever. The Rega is expensive but lets not forget its built in Britain and has a lifetime guarantee lets try shipping your recent Amazon purchase and see how you get on. The likes of Technics, Linn etc.... are fantastic turntables but they are a completely different price range so shouldnt even be in the conversation.

    No attempt to clean the crap off the stylus before playing a record? wtf!

      He apparently doesn’t care about maintaining his stylus or cleaning his vinyl. If you’re making a close up video, common sense clean whatever you’re filming. I’m not very impressed, these turntable’s are too basic.

      I thought the same. I clean my stylus every time I flip my record and use a carbon brush on the record each time. Makes a world of difference imo

    Of course, you need to have speakers that can also reproduce low frequencies. and large stereo image and a lot of sound details and preferably neutral sound

  • @Andersljungberg

    you did not check that the needle follows the track correctly. that is, it is set correctly from the factory. this is not always the case

    The Sony PS-LX310BT audio produced is lacking in detail, can’t reach the highs and lows. Amp used is Cambridge Audio AM10. Is this to be expected of the default stylus or do I need the stylus to run in?

  • @chazw1964
    @chazw1964 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    The Pro-ject has the better cartridge, it might have been a different story if the Rega wasn't fitted with the carbon cartridge.

    • @Andersljungberg
      @Andersljungberg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      a few years ago, an Asian tested both project and Rega. Riga won the test better contour in sound etc. and it was Rega 1. that test also included a $ 500 turntable from Sony

    • @FileFixer007
      @FileFixer007 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rega Carbon cartridge are cheap AT-3600L with ATN91 stylus. OM 5E can be compared with AT-VM95E cartridge which from my personal opinion have better sound then OM 5E. Btw. This video is longest advertisement than I ever seen. Nothing helpful for everyone who want to buy good turntable.

      @@FileFixer007 The Pro-ject offered a better cartridge at a considerably lower price, that's not the show's fault.

    I may be old/school but surely the reason for bringing back vinyl is for the sound...why filter out the crackle..that's what made the sound!!!

      You usually cannot select a cartridge when purchasing a turntable. but you can buy a cartridge separately

    • @ccadam
      @ccadam 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Ortofon cartridge would easily outperform the bottom of the line Audio technica AT-3600 with its carbon fibre cantilever. Those cartridges are on many entry level turntables. Also easily attainable online from China for around $20. They're not bad for a low end cartridge. The chuo denshi magnetic cartridge is even cheaper but sounds a bit harsh in high frequencies. It's less common these days, was on a lot of cheap turntables once integrated into the headshell. Newest turntable I've seen it on was a Numark and they put a sticker on it calling it Numark Groovetool.

    • @cjmillsnun
      @cjmillsnun 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They are reviewing the turntables as sold. The Sony and Rega both have the AT cart, and the pro-ject has the Ortofon.

    In order to arrive at a valid conclusion you would have to actually test 2021 record players! Which, I believe, is 10% of the those available. :-)

      Dude, the better turntables are the spring suspension sub chassis turntables from Thorens, Linn and Acoustic Research. I personally own an Acoustic Research that I bought new in 1985. The tonearm can be swapped out for a different one as I’m sure is the case with the Linn also. As far as the technics 1200, well I’m not a DJ so I don’t need direct drive, plus I like completely manual turntables.
