Thanks for this video. It took me less than 7 minutes to remove, about 4 minutes to replace, and close to 45 minutes to find the damn replacement part I bought the week before.
Today I replaced the map sensor the camshaft sensor and the crankshaft sensor. Probably saved $1,000 doing it myself. Thank you for your video. Extremely helpful!
"... and now what we're gonna do is jump ahead so you don't see that we spent the requisite two hours trying to remove the part, broke it off in frustration, drilled out the remaining part, then sanded the inside to remove any damage caused by the drill bit..."
Mine was a royal pain to get out. Once out replacement was easy. Turn the wheel all the way left for room under the passenger front wheel. It's right above the oil filter nut and slightly forward of it.
Is there anything else i should know before doing this? Just swap it out and i should be good to go or should i disconnect the battery first? After swapping it out will she be good to go or am i going to make things worse?
Approach the sensor from under the vehicle. You can actually see the sensor if you look in from the passenger side wheel well. If in the driveway, crawl under the vehicle to the rear of the front tire and you can access it easily.
are two sensors of the crankshaft?? I ask because this is different from the one I changed and I still get the crankshaft sensor code, I have a 2006 dodge ram 3500
Great video & explanation, thanks take care. Mission accomplished with your help and step by step including the screw driver and vice grip technic, thanks again blessings to you & family. Joey
mine was 10mm and luckily it came right out new one went in super easy I actually used disconnect pliers 90 degree ones and I was able to grab the sensor in a good spot and pull it out then used them plies to disconnect the sensor plug haven't tried it yet my engine was sputtering and it got to a point where It took me 8 times to start it before it would start it was throwing code po339 so i replaced thst so far hopefully that fixes it
You video is sooo close I cant tell WHERE you are? Looks like passenger side, I see the freeze plugs, but... is this 4x4 or 2WD? Cuz I cant find mine... I have a 2004 dodge durango, 5.7l hemi, 4x4. thanks... I will probably figure it out before you guys get back to me. I see this video is 3yrs old...
This video could be a lot better. you just dive right into it without giving any remote where the location of the sensor is on the vehicle. Luckily I already I already knew but some people may not. I was just looking for the correct socket size to use. Thanks.
It was a decent video except you could have been just a little bit more specific about the location I am thi going you are some were between the front of the bottom of one side of the motor and the back bottom side of one side of the motor. Guess I will go hunting. But thorough video after that little bit of
so basically the end of mine EXPLODED OFF.. yes the metal piece with some of the plastic after the o ring.. so it went straight into the motor havent started it yet.. should I just send it.. or drop the oil pan and look for it??😂😂😂
The camshaft sensor is under the top radiator hose under the hood The crankshaft sensor is located underneath the motor you can literally lay down under the vehicle and see it very easy to get to But the sensor that was changed out in this video is the crankshaft not the camshaft

That looks like a camshaft sensor not a crankshaft sensor. Or are those terms interchangeable? Can you confirm this?
It looks that you broke the sensor. How did you remove the rest?
Great sounds good looks easy But what about the reset the sensor part that most have to do in order for truck to start correctly?
It would be nice to know where the sensor is
How did you guys get the broken part of the sensor out?
Is there anything else i should know before doing this? Just swap it out and i should be good to go or should i disconnect the battery first? After swapping it out will she be good to go or am i going to make things worse?
Great video
Do you have to disconnect the battery?

When I went to pick one up. It was plastic. The one you have looks like metal. Is there a difference? Many thanks
You guys are the best you have helped me so much with my 2008 Dakota it’s not even funny.
I went through a ford and think the sensor make have got wet. It was about 2' deep. Would this cause my breakdown with misfiring, rough running?

Does 5.9 has a camshaft sensor too
So did you take the wheel off to get to it?
I have lights but iwont tun over unless i cross starter fuse

Mine was a ROYAL pain I had to junk the whole truck and get a new one to get the job done
Why does the crankcase and crankshaft sensor look the same? Is it suppose to be like that?
1:15 shows the plastic breaking off
It can and will if corrosion is bad around sensor

Fyi I have an 03 ram 1500 and mine is in a different location and a different sensor
Now could that be a reason not to have rpms?
What engine?
What about the camshaft? Where is it located on a 2008 dodge ram
Right under the alternator on the left side right beside the egr valve. Just replaced mine on my 07 hemi
Is this located on the front side of passenger side of the transmission ?
I’m sorry I can’t tell where it’s located in the video
Hey what was your truck doing to know that the sensor went out??
Easy job. Mine was actually an 11mm. And the sensor came right out with a couple wiggles
Didn’t say WHERE it’s located
It was a decent video except you could have been just a little bit more specific about the location I am thi going you are some were between the front of the bottom of one side of the motor and the back bottom side of one side of the motor. I WISH it was that easy!!!
Mine was 10 mm. The biggest problem was getting the bolt back in.
Hmm. Front engin mount, rear of passenger tire access. Cam shaft and or crank shaft. Which is which. 3 videos and mixed info for this chick repair
so basically the end of mine EXPLODED OFF.. yes the metal piece with some of the plastic after the o ring.. so it went straight into the motor havent started it yet.. should I just send it.. or drop the oil pan and look for it??😂😂😂

Well you made that look easy👍
