How to make a mousepad

  • While a mousepad isn't really necessary anymore, I get really annoyed by the sound of a mouse sliding over a desk. So I decided to make my own mousepad to get rid of that sound. In the video I show all the steps of this simple DIY. It's a quick project that doesn't require a lot of materials and tools, and allows you to make a mousepad in any size, shape and colour you want.
    What you'll need:
    - non-slip mat
    - thin craft foam
    - smooth, non-stretch fabric
    - all-purpose glue
    - scissors
If you make one of your own, I'd love to see it! Send me a picture on Instagram @craftswithellen.

Spot on. The sound is extremely annoying to me as well! I still have a rather large pad but its slowly disintegrating...
    Saved for future reference 😉

The trick is to cut through all layers. There must be glue where you cut, or otherwise the fabric will be frayed.

Ooh yeah, that would be cool! Maybe try the quilting section at your local fabric store, that's usually where you can find lots of (animal) prints. Plus, quilting fabrics can be bought in smaller pieces, so you don't have to buy a whole meter for one mousepad ;)

So, I need the kind of mouse mat that has an attached wrist support. Any thoughts on what would be the best way to add one to this design? I'm getting fed up with what retail ones are costing me.

Pretty sure thats how fabric mouse pads are made anyway.
I would sew the corners to stop the fabric from fraying out.
