I love this video!! On May 28th, 1937 My Mom and Dad were married at their parents farm; in the living room. Their best friends stood up for them with both sets of parents there with the Pastor and Wife. Mom had a diary. In it she shares she went out to the end of the porch and picked Sweet Peas for her Wedding bouquet and flowers around the house. After their vows were said all their friends and cousins and neighbors came to the farm for a potluck dinner. Mom always shared when she used her cabbage and potatoe grater that this 25 cent item her cousin gave her was the most used wedding gift!! and she gave me one with a rolling pen at my wedding shower in 1969. She always had her sweet peas growing at our house all through the years. Dad passed away when he was 75 and she at 88. A rich God centered marriage that was blessed with 8 children, I am #5, and 25 grandkids; but now our family is well over 100. Keep growing them.....I am going to try in SC too. You are always a blessing and helpful!! HUGS!!

If the sweet peas outgrow the height of the panels, you could always create an arch with reeds or some other material between the two rows of panels, creating a sort of sweet pea covered tunnel, that would be magical

My dad's nickname for me was Sweet Pea and I still fondly remember the spring that we planted sweet peas and grew them on a trellis in our backyard patio. I remember everyday checking it out together. Watching this video brought back so many wonderful memories with my dad and gardening. I lost my Dad when I was young, just out of high school, and there's so many things that will bring his memory back so close to my heart ❤ .....this video especially 😊...thank you for the inspiration for the sweet memory recall and now I definitely want to grow sweet peas!!!

Okay, I'm going to send you a virtual hug 🤗. You grow alot of beautiful thing's and you say " oh,I will just give them out to family and friends," and in this day and age you don't hear that. Makes my heart happy to know that you and Aaron work your butts off (especially during the summer time when it gets hotter than 2 mice making out in a wool sock) and you just give them out to your neighbors, family, friends and last year even strangers. You sweet lady have a big ❤.

Laura, for your "T" posts, put up with them this season and when you take them down just dip the white end into a can of black paint (or green to match), let them dry and you will be done with minimal fuss. Easy on you, minimal mess and voila!

This season I’m trying something new with my sweet peas. Instead of individual cells, I seeded groups of them in 1 gallon and 2 gallon nursery cans. The sweet peas will be beautiful on the panels. I love using hog panels for fencing. I moved to the country 20 years ago. My daughter was in junior high school and we fenced in an acre for our large dogs with t-post and hog panels. (we have also had a miniature horse and a couple of goats over there) The great thing about those panels is they never need stretching ☺. It was a lot of work driving t-post into red clay but we survived and stood back with pride that we accomplished it by ourselves. Good memories.

  • @momcrist
    @momcrist 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Aaron, you can use the underside of your tractor loader to push the T-posts down into the ground. Just slip a piece of pipe (the height you want your post to stand) over it before you start to keep it from bending. It’s faster and saves those tired arms! You need an assistant to place each post in position and hold it til you make contact with the loader as you go and to eyeball the post to keep it straight with the world. My husband and I have made miles of fence this way.

I have loved watching every video as soon as I crawl out of bed and have been so happy for you, then I saw the fence, and first time jealous. I live so close to neighbors that are very nice but how I would love privacy fence and just be able to work in yard without constant interruptions. I hope this doesn't sound unkind. They are good people.

I found you looking for advice on how to save my Amaryllis and I got 5 flowers this year off of it! I found you again looking for succulent advice. Had to subscribe and I am now addicted to your videos and I love your family and your tips. I live in New Hampshire, but I can adjust things to my climate because you explain everything so well. Bought my first bag of bio-tone starter fertilizer and I feel much more confident about my garden this year because of you. Thank you Laura and Aaron!

Sweet Peas are my Father in Law's favorite, he used to plant a lot in his gardening days! Driving in those t-posts is hard work, my husband does that when I need a post in the ground! Can't wait to watch those Sweet Peas grow & fill in that area with color!! 😃👀🌿💜💚💛🧡🤍

Hey Laura! Super excited to see the sweet peas grow over the ranch panels. Maybe you could train them to form a tunnel once they start overflowing upwards!💚💜🤍❤️💛
I really enjoy your videos, Thanks 😊

I know this is off topic but I have a small asparagus plant growing it hasn't really spread in the last 5 yrs there i love love asparagus and would love some guidance 😊 on what to do how to cut etc. I say in the background in one of your videos you had a raised bed full. You've inspired me to grow fox glove and I'm almost ready to get those in my garden ,and hundreds of others too.makes waking up exciting when your nest is empty.

Okay I’ve never grown asparagus But we pick it wild - some farmer friends do not spray a few ditch banks just for asparagus growing - let it do the full grow process then come spring just before new growth Burn it off. My grandpa swore by the burn off for his whole garden that would be the best garden in the valley. Hope that helps🤷🏻‍♀️💚

Love how the garden and trees pop against the black background! I think it would finish it off beautifully if the t-posts were painted black too. Wishing you many beautiful sweet peas to bless many people!😄 I too give away many bouquets and I feel blessed to have the flowers to do it . I rarely have a bouquet on my table for very long, as I often grab that one as I'm leaving the house (there's always someone who needs it more than I do!).😄

First time working with sweet peas. I tried them 2 ways. Planting directly outside as seeds and starting them inside under grow lights. I only kept them inside for 2 weeks and then planted them outside because they were outgrowing their containers. Figured survival of the fittest 🤣. I live in Colorado and they have been outside for 2-3 weeks now and are doing fabulous, even those planted outside as seeds are starting to come up. Will cover my pansies and sweet peas at night this week as we are supposed to get into the 20’s but they seem to be thriving in the cool weather. So very happy to be trying them out this year. Thanks for all you do!

Arron needs to invest in a gas powered post driver unless he just wants to build his pects and biceps. Living Traditions Homestead uses one if you would like a demo on how they work.

Have you ever watched Living Traditions Homestead? Not only are Kevin and Sara very interesting but they own a gas operated metal post driver that sets the post very rapidly. It would be perfect for Aaron when setting all the post in your garden. If interested their video is called We're building a chicken moat to keep them out (meaning the deer).

love the video !! I have two suggestions 1.Arron there's an impact tool for pounding in t posts and two, Laura you could add a fence panel to make an arch that way you will have a tunnel of sweetpeas and extend the growing height at the same time. Would be fun for Benjamin to run through.

Nice....we pound steel posts the same, but u r on another level than me...there is a powered post driver that Living Traditions youtube uses for fencing, they love it! U probably could get a free one to feature on ur channel 😉👍💪
