At Lilongwe Wildlife Centre, Vet Amanda gets a call to pick up a baboon whose health has deteriorated to a severe state. Kept as a pet and partially blind at this point, the team rush her back to the center for treatment. They administer a tranquilizer to do a health check and find her situation declining rapidly. Over the weeks though, the treatment she receives has a positive effect, and her recovery is a heart-warming sight to see.

I want to thank the people that contacted the correct people to be able to help that animal. I have thought about myself finding an animal in need. Why do we make excuses for abuse of animals? Or say they didn't know better? She was a pet...that they starved and abused. They don't have a pair of eyes to see her pain? They knew...they simply didn't care.
She seems sweet even after yall held her down and she was screaming poked her with a needle when u let go she didn't even attempt to attack u just sat there with her hand over her face 😔

Like they really couldn’t give her seeds, fruits and vegetables to eat? She’s an adult not a baby, how was that difficult for her owners to do? They obviously had plenty of plants and vegetation to feed her, they really couldn’t pick or cut anything to bring her since they insisted on keeping her chained? Sadly, they must have barely feed her as a baby, enough to keep her alive but not enough to be full.
And she’s WAY too submissive towards humans, those owners might have physically abused her in order to make her behave. A lot abused monkeys in those Cambodian/ Laotian videoes exhibit similar behaviors after being ‘punished’ or ‘disciplined’.😠

In situations where it saves or improves their lives, and theyre raised with equal love, care, and safety. Ive no problem with intervention or being raised by humans. But not cages or chains & ropes around their necks. Or threats of abandonment. They usually come to prefer life with us very quickly.

Its caged life after the rescue seems same as the pet life and its pet life is better than its wild life.
All animals are better in the wild. Even if it doesn't seem like it to you or me. Monkeys have complex social lives and the females stay together all their lives. We cannot give them what they need.
