For most songs, a Vox, Orange, or Fender should be good. For distortion, you'll want a tubescreamer, rat if you'd like, and an MXR Micro Amp if you reaaaaally want those WPSIATWIN tones. A Fuzz Face or Big Muff covers a lot of their fuzzy tones, but I love mixing overdrives instead for their fuzzy tones. Others mostly are a Memory Man Deluxe(things like Secret Door, Cornerstone, the Bakery, and everything on Suck It and See) and some type of fast chorus, rotary drum effect, specifically for Teddy Picker and If You Found This It's Probably Too Late. You want reverb and echo for things on AM as the video showed. And of course, for most of it, a fender. Strats, Teles, and Mustangs are great on their first few albums. Jazzmaster may be better on Humbug. Les Paul's and other humbucker guitars are nice for Jamie's tone
eljapel I get where you’re coming from but the idea of the series is more to show you how to create the tones as accurately as possible rather than sticking to a certain budget, so it would have made more sense to use a 12 string like they have in other videos (QOTSA I think???). But I do agree that most people would end up playing it on a six string
Rotary drum pedal. Or really fast chorus or vibrato. Or really fast tremolo if you're desperate. And if you pay attention to the song, he turns it on and off constantly throughout the solo
Huges & Kettner Tube Rotosphere mk2 th-cam.com/video/CNjZ5z6ZjoQ/w-d-xo.html You have to set it to fast and then turn the breaker on when you want it to squeal 😉(e.g. the last note of the solo) as shown here: th-cam.com/video/LDPnoklLrMY/w-d-xo.html
R U Mine sound is hard to get... Alex used Coopersonic Valveslapper on his Gretsch Duo Jet, but not sure which amp he played on The View from the Afternoon is almost the same for Dancefloor; Strat + RAT (3-2-2) and a chunchy amp
Well their music is not that much pedal oriented (maybe except tracks like Diamond Sea). I think they mostly use just some overdrive/distortion. Their signature style is created by odd tunings, harmonics and brutal playing. And also screwdrivers and drumsticks.
How about The Killers, The Byrds, Weezer, King Crimson, TV On The Radio, Eric Johnson, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, Mac DeMarco, John Mayer, The Velvet Underground, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, My Bloody Valentine, The War On Drugs, and The Who?
It is interesting that they use a Fender Jazzmaster for Alex Turner’s tone on almost all of the excerpts ( except for the one on I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor) I wonder if using a Fender Strat will achieve the similar tone
The tone for 505 was spot on.
Eric M such an amazing song
My favorite AM song next to Fluorescent Adolescent and Mardy Bum
Deifintly both are of my favorites as well. And all of the first album I guess and some of the early b-sides and on and on.... :)
lol no it wasn't...
shut up nerd
I live for that rhythm guitar tone on she's thunderstorms
Same here! However, I’m trying to figure out if any of these pedals would sound great on a fender hot rod deluxe
@@darko_0682 they would, yes
That all black P bass is beautiful.
it's the special edition model, i dunno if they still do it but they might cos it was released last year
Better with darker rosewood fretboard. Or ebony.
I only can think about Roger Waters when I see one of them.
It’s extraordinary that you actually listen to the requests of your viewers! These were spot on, keep it up!

Great guide, i actually use hot rails to play alex tones and it sounds great!
Forgetting hollow-body guitars.
Would you recommend fuzz pedals for most of the Humbug stuff then? Dangerous animals for example?
I think for delay a line 6 MK4 would also be good for songs like cornerstone and only ones who know
The quality of sound is so beautiful 😍😍😍 I felt like crying
crying lightning?
Moshy yes of course 😉
"saw your sister in the cornerstone
on the phone to the EHX Memory Man"
Just in time for the new album announcement
Davis Street YYAASSS BAHAHAH
Whaaaaaat??!
Oh man I ha don idea! Thank you!
The ultracheese
To like Tranquily Base :
Fuzzes - Mammoth
Lead Clean Tones - Reverb and Steel String
Clean - compressors
Only it, i hope i helped u
that was incredibly accurate
The most spot on “How To Sound Like” video Reverb has uploaded so far
That One for the road tremolo picking and delay was beautiful! Definitely having that on when I play it in the future. Brilliant work guys :)
All you need for 505 is the danelectro reel echo with some good spring reverb
I think you guys should do King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. How fun of an experiment would that be
David Chacha they’d have to kidnap stu to get the banana
I love hot wax
If you have a fender amp, single coil guitar, a wah pedal, a digital delay, and a drive pedal to stack with the amp already cranked you get it
I wanna buy a microtonal banana and I'm not even a guitar player. Maybe I should try and find/make a microtonal bass.
I'd give my left nut for that
this is by far the most accurate video of this series
3:18 this additional guitar sounds so badass
Wouldnt mind seeing velvet underground or MBV
Its just MBV would take some time but i wouldnt mind
The tone on those chords in She’s Thunderstorms in heaven
Thank you reverb guys for uploading this
You knew they had to finish with ''Do I Wanna Know''
Am I the only one that wanted more of their early stuff like Fluorescent Adolescent and When the Sun Goes Down?
im in love with that p bass
these were very very close if not spot on, great job reverb
Great series! I'd love to see one on a Pinkerton era weezer!
AHHHH IVE BENN WAITING FOR THIS VID FOREVER
do I wanna know is actually played on a 12 string but other than that these are spot on
Micky Dear agree
the Reverb.com guy should have used that 12 string hollowbody that he used for the Queens Of The Stone Age vid
yeah but I think the idea is to do this on a budget, a 12 strings for just one song is overkill
eljapel I get where you’re coming from but the idea of the series is more to show you how to create the tones as accurately as possible rather than sticking to a certain budget, so it would have made more sense to use a 12 string like they have in other videos (QOTSA I think???). eljapel the woolly mammoth pedal is around £200 alone so I don’t think budget is an issue in all honesty
This is actually spot on
This is one of the best potents
Sound like The Jam!
but how do you get that Teddy Picker solo sound?
th-cam.com/video/LDPnoklLrMY/w-d-xo.html
chorus.
Rotary drum pedal. Or really fast chorus or vibrato. Or really fast tremolo if you're desperate. And if you pay attention to the song, he turns it on and off constantly throughout the solo
Alex used H&K Rotosphere pedal
Huges & Kettner Tube Rotosphere mk2
th-cam.com/video/CNjZ5z6ZjoQ/w-d-xo.html
You have to set it to fast and then turn the breaker on when you want it to squeal 😉(e.g. the last note of the solo) as shown here:

One of the best videos to how to sound like arctic monkeys, especially the sound to 505 or one for the round i feel the perfection!!!
Thank you so much for making this video! Super helpful ☺️🎸
It will never sound like Do I wanna Know without a 12 string solid body guitar.
The guitar parts in crying lightning is the best for me
The Last Shadow Puppets !
Out of this world!!!
One for the Road was spot on. Holy god
Mac Demarco
Chorus - Walrus Audio
Reverb - Holy Crail
And Acoustic Simulator sometimes to simulate the lead guitar sounds
Pleaaaaaase yes
finally, poggers pedal
I'm looking at my old ticket stub: General admission standing room The Newport Music Hall, Columbus Ohio... Sept. 11, 2007...$25'....
It seems that you want to be part of the strokes
For those of you wondering how to get the proper CL bass tone.
P bass (maple board) > compressor > Big Muff > amp.
0:56 Magical tubescreamer there
I bought a noir p bass because of this video... on Reverb of course
This is so beautiful and awesome
Thank you so much for this
Great song choices!
Oh dear god thanks reverb ♡
Ok, crying lightning sounds more bad ass here
Make the full songs please!!! This is amazing and cant seem to find the guitar versions only anywhere
Now with Muse :D
Pearl Jam, Kings of Leon, The Who, Velvet Underground, White Stripes
This was soo spot on! Thank you 🤩
What about a part 2?
Rush done right would be amazing
YES THANK YOU
That crying lightning bass tone tho
I would love a potent pairings on Big Star and Jack White. Or Mick Jones!
Where the hell do you guys get the money to buy all of this stuff?
Someone likes a matching head stock.
You played the bassline to Crying Lightning wrong
notbenny thanks for the update big Ben
Most of the bass lines were wrong but at least they did the job
the played the guitars wrong too so..
Not as bad as Andertons tho
I mean it’s about the tones not how to play the riffs and the tones were good so
Someone needs to send this video to the Arctic monkeys now XD
About time
Que pedal puedo ocupar para igual adolescent florescent?
Will someone do The Toadies?!
Slowdive please!!!
That one would be really really appreciated especially ''Souvlaki'' sound is something that I'm always looking for.
Souvlaki it's very interesting I would also like to see allison, when the sun hits, shine etc
they're all in 'Souvlaki' album kek.
I really want a sound tutorial for Star Roving by Slowdive
@@maddurkheim6996 shine isn't on souvlaki. it was on Holding Our Breath EP and the Just For A Day 2CD reissue :)
Do muse next
Nailed !!!
Thanks sir!
Great video! Whats that pedal before the OCD in the I bet you look good on the dance floor song?
Can you please do The Cribs next?
The Jazzmaster rocks!
ty bro
What about The Kills? Jamie Hince guitar sound is awesome!
Damn these are accurate....
What octave setup did u use for the She's Thunderstorms solo?
So this whole time I’ve been trynna get their fuzzy tone and it’s just an octave pedal with distortion?
This was cool but I still would've liked to have seen how to get the tones for songs like _R U Mine?_ and _A View From The Afternoon_
Andrew Pappas Alex ONLY used A Pro Co Rat 2 for the entirety of the first album, if that helps
R U Mine sound is hard to get... Alex used Coopersonic Valveslapper on his Gretsch Duo Jet, but not sure which amp he played on
The View from the Afternoon is almost the same for Dancefloor; Strat + RAT (3-2-2) and a chunchy amp
Is that a Fender Vintera 60's Jazzmaster?
yes
Can somebody tell me what fender jaguar is he using?
The next video could be how to sound like sonic youth, please!
Well their music is not that much pedal oriented (maybe except tracks like Diamond Sea). I think they mostly use just some overdrive/distortion. Their signature style is created by odd tunings, harmonics and brutal playing. And also screwdrivers and drumsticks.
Thei used big muff and that's almost that.
Any Vox Amp + TS808 + Fuzz Face + Tube Tremolo + Vibrato + Slapback Tape Delay + Reverb Spring
Do you need all three to play do I wanna know?
Whats the model/serie of this Bass guitar? Thats beautiful.
cool
Thank u so much
Stone roses pls
How about The Killers, The Byrds, Weezer, King Crimson, TV On The Radio, Eric Johnson, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, Mac DeMarco, John Mayer, The Velvet Underground, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, My Bloody Valentine, The War On Drugs, and The Who?
MaskedMarvel92 someone is eager
i thought that said Bullet For My Valentine for a second
now i am sad :(
William Allison that band? It’s not good.
MaskedMarvel92 my bloody valentine would be too hard to do accurately
I second all of those
Okay but what's going on with the Bass effects?
Oh my, what is that jazzmaster?? So pretty
Ein astreines Video!
Anyone know the specific guitars he used? I really like the look and sound. (I know he’s using a Jazzmaster, a 335 and a Pbass but those look amazing)
Colton 0000 Fender Vintera 60s Jazzmaster, Fender limited edition p bass noir satin black but, I don’t know what the ES 335 is
Dan Whalen What about that strat bro?
Can you tell me what type of jaguar is he using?
He's not using a jaguar, he's using a Jazzmaster. Same as Alex. @@daonelgomez5293
Is there one of these for mcr and/or Linkin park?
How about Green Day or Catfish and the Bottlemen?
How about Wilco?
Add slow phaser for “One For the Road” solo
It is interesting that they use a Fender Jazzmaster for Alex Turner’s tone on almost all of the excerpts ( except for the one on I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor) I wonder if using a Fender Strat will achieve the similar tone
Andri Zulkifli probably.
Do you think you could still play it even if you have a jazz master
Your missing the Dano reel echo
Any idea what model that bass is?
Is necessary to have a Jazzmaster to get the rythm guitar sound just like the one in the record?
Agustin Palomino not really, any single coil fenderish type of guitar should get you in the same ballpark
Agustin Palomino not really, any single coil fenderish type of guitar should get you in the same ballpark
How about Sun O)))) ?
