This is the best presentation I ever seen, I am a new guy with the rc, and took me a long time to find this, but I tell you, the best way to explain and demonstrate the subject you are covering. thank you so much Richard for taking the time to teach us all.
Thanks Richard , Your english is the best I have found for me to understand setting up this 3way switch.Trying to set up quad with Eagletree Vector, Now need to understand the values for the final 2 mixes.
Joey Dickens Hi Joey, you can try look on my videos about Taranis programming (Crumbs series and video tutorial). It is similar to Er9x. But - I recommend flash radio on OpenTx, than it will be very similar to Taranis (Taranis is with a more powerful hardware, so possibilities as bigger, but basic programming is same.)
Great video Richard, I tried your mixes and they at least got my flaps going in the right directions. Something even browing RC groups couldn't do. I just need to adjust the mixes to not have so much elevator down when the flaps are down now. Great stuff! I really thank you for it!
Awsome - I have a Cessna - but without flaps - maybe I should add flaps. Can't wait for the next translation. Your explanations helps alot - just watching what you do does not do the video justice. Thanks again for all your efforts.
I solved this by buying a servo reverser in the end, works great. But a few days ago i flashed OpenTX onto my 9x and it gives you waaaay more options. It's just a bit complicated at the beginning. :)
Great video, solved my problem! applied these settings to same Tx as shown, used on a Eurofly Cessna 182, I can now set one stage of flaps for take-off and 2 stages for landing. Very helpful. By the way, there's nothing wrong with your English
Thanks a lot for the tutorial, it "saved my life" !!! I couldn't fathom how to program such a function on my own. Great video, perfect and very useful. Don't worry about your english, the video alone is explict enough.
After some fiddeling I ended up putting the ailerons on their assigned channel on a "Y" cabel and used "mix 1 & 2" for the elivator to flap differential to work in unison with my flaps in "mix 6 & 7" on the 3 position switch. I used a "Y" cabel for the flaps and included a "signal/servo reverser" on one servo lead to get them both to run the same direction.
Hi Richard - when r u doing this vid?? Can't wait Soon will be here next movie about Flaps (in English version), probably more interesting :) 3pos Flaps on 3pos Switch, with ailerons as Flaperons in lower position of Flaps. It's cool for planes as Storch, Lysander, but Cessna too and similar airplanes ;-)
Thanks this was very helpful. For my Mix 1 (your mix 2) I had to move the dn rate in order to center my flaps, this made the throttle cut move my flaps up. So now I have 3 position flaps and air brakes. :)
Thank you very much, this helped me a great deal. But i have a question: I just finished building my very first plane (HK Bixler 2), on which there are mirrored servos for the flaps. This means one flap goes down while the other flap goes up when i use a y-cable. Is there any way i could use Channel 5, 7 or 8 for the second servo in this scenario or do i have to get a servo reverser? Thanks again in advance for any answer!
thank you for sharing your knowledge it was very useful for me Istill have to lern eloth about this radio but i`ll fallow your direction and hopefully 1 day I will get to expert level :-)
Hi Richard, You have a lot of knowledge on the Turnigy 9X Transmitter. Can i slow down my servo operation with the stock Firmware? I would like to slow all my servos down by 20 - 30% Thank you.
Pozdrawiam.
Im looking to set up a PZ P47 with gear and flaps. I was wondering my alerion and flaps will be on a y so omy using one channel each. I noticed that the elev moves up when the flaps go down is there a reason for this i would think that you want it to go up. to level it out, but slower speed. Also what it the point of the trottle hold switch? Thanks for the video though great detail.
where you ever able to figure it out on fly sky th9x because I set up my mixes identical to the way he did down to the letter and 3 position switch does absolutely nothing the only way I have been able to get a function out of the 3 position switch is to use the pre programmed air brake set up but still only all or nothing on the flaps
...sorry, original FW is now without my "support" - I don't use them for long time and don't know it any more. Switch on Open9x - different universe in your T9x! :)
Doesn't work for me either no matter what value I give the various mixes. Seems something was mis spoken. I did catch the refrence to the flaps as elevators, maybe there more I didn't catch. But either way the set up you have described and I flollowed to the "T" will not work for me. Guess I'll just have to play with it some.
Just curious.. should the elevator be moving that way? I thought flaps helped increase lift, so why would one need up elevator? I just want to be sure before I launch my plain on her maiden
I did not work for me w ith Bixler 2. I can see in your diagram that servos are all facing same direction. But anyways the 3 pos switch was irresponsive, all it did was to move flaps in opposite direction when ailerons sticks were moved. I watched twice to double check I had exactly the same settings...My tx is set Mode 2 w ailerons on right, I see yours is on the left side. Could be it? Also, the only aux channel 5 was set to throtle hold the others 6 and 7 were NULL. Is that right? Thanks
Hello! when both flap servos goes on one channel number 6 they move in appositive direction, one up and one down... how you could make it move to the same direction?
It stops the plane from ballooning up when you deploy the flaps. Because the flaps give you more lift, to you need to compensate by mixing in the elevator.
All this set up are useless for someone that needs the 5 extra channels. Controller is a 9ch but other than gear the knobs are useless, (means its a 6ch) i have this & i need gear & flaps (airbrake). I cant even add the flaps to a switch without filling the rx with plugs. Looking at this i need a 20ch to actually have switches available for thrust vector, pilot eject, parachute, smoke, gear, flaps.
Excellent video. Still helping 9 years later. Thank you.

Great job. I just received my Turnigy 9x and followed your instructions. It worked the first time! Thank you very much.

thanks richard great incite into the world of transmitters certainly taught me more about my fly sky 9 channel
Thank you. I finally started really understanding how to set this radio as a result of your video. Great tutorial!

Awsome - thanks- I am still getting it wrong but am in a hurry now - will watch again and retry tonight
Thanks very much for the effort you have made in making these videos, that are a great help.

Merci bocu
Thank you so much for the video......I've been wanting to sort this out for sometime now....and with your help its done. works perfect.......
nice video....can u please tell me where on your receiver did u plug in your servo,,,i mean on which channels tanx for your help...nice greetings
Hi, Thank you for such detailed video . Do you have instruction how to realize 2 three postion switch : 1 - for flaps 2- for switching autopilit mode
Great, Thanks for putting the time to make the video.
I would love for you to do this set up on your ER9x model. I am having a hard time setting up my 3 pos switch for my OSD.
Thank you very much, this helped me a great deal. But i have a question: I just finished building my very first plane (HK Bixler 2), on which there are mirrored servos for the flaps. Why two mix have same function ? I try to understand ! Thanks, work great !
Richard, thanks for the videos! What is the purpose of setting "aux-ch" channel 5 to the throttle hold switch?
thank you for sharing your knowledge it was very useful for me Istill have to lern eloth about this radio but i`ll fallow your direction and hopefully 1 day I will get to expert level :-)
Thanks, I hope your new video for use Ailerons as flaps.

And if you need channel 5 for landing gear?
can you tell is is it really worth buying this transmitter? I want to swich from my 4ch 35 mhz
very well explained thanx

THANK YOU...... THIS IS GREAT STUFF...
thanks! Gracias! Muito obrigado! Valeu muito
i need the three way switch for my hobbyking outopilot can you help with the set up I need all setings on the three way switch
Thanks Richard
can you mix elevator with just flaps if you have used all mixes for flaperons
Thanks! But shouldn't the elevator be in the 'down/negative' positions?
When y7ou deploy flaps the plane will balloon up , and yes you need to mix in down elevator to compensate.
...so, if you have simple On-Off Switch on your radio, is it a 1Position switch? :)
Hello! when both flap servos goes on one channel number 6 they move in appositive direction, one up and one down... how you could make it move to the same direction?
buy a servo switcher. or turn one of the servos upside down and change servo arm accordingly.
excellent thanks
HI GUYS! i need to know how mix flaps for the 3 pos switch without Y-CABLE (2 channels)
Great ! Thank you. Excelent job.
Nice comment! Big thank you! Flysky TH-9X is too corectly work by your lesson!
great Video
This didn't work for me. Also, it's not necessary to set the AUX CH 5 to Throttle Hold for throttle hold to work.
Can anyone say why should i combine flaps with elevator. Thanx
It stops the plane from ballooning up when you deploy the flaps. Because the flaps give you more lift, to you need to compensate by mixing in the elevator.
Thank you very much sir. :)
I have the same problem my friend. I don't how do it this!!!! :(
Great Vid THANK YOU!!! :)
...and 0degrees flaps is third positions. In this Universe...
...it is depending on airplane - it is not the same on all airplanes... And - this is only examples of programming, not exact instructions...
this will not work if your servos are not facing the same way.
