Which would be a better bike the updated tiger 900 with the extra power or the tracer 9gt+? I love my Tiger 1200 GT Explorer but am thinking about going back to a smaller lighter bike.
Tim, I decided against a 2022 900 Rally Pro because of the vibrations. I don’t buy the explanation of better torque, character hype. It’s a triple that has been made rough for no good reason. Your review certainly makes me want to give the 900 another go. My 890 Adventure is a great bike but the Tiger is better equipped and certainly more comfortable (like most bikes). Look forward to the next one.
If I could characterise the difference: the 800 is sewing machine smooth and linear, whereas the the 900 feels more gutteral and immediate...it's a matter of poersonal preference, but apart from the that general feel, the 900 (2020-23 edition) feels more urgent than the 800.
Bought mine because of the t plane. Already have a silky smooth K1600 GTLE. I love the difference in character sound and feel between the two. One is never enough!
Thanks for the video. I test rode a Tiger 900 GT Pro on Monday and loved it ... on order for June. I didn't spend time going through all the display options but wondered if as well as the circular central display of speedo, tach, gear, fuel you can choose to have other things permanently displayed like coolant temp, range, tyre pressures? And I don't mean whilst setting things up in the menu when the main display gets squished? Does anyone know?
I think Triumph messed up introducting the T plane crank which was originally to compete the the boxer engine on the BMW GS. Something it failed to do.
No you are not hard to please but Triumph doing his best to not get it:) in the world of 120hz phone screens and attention span of three seconds this dead slow thing lived three generations in three different model ranges. This is unbelievable 😱
Would this Rally Pro be as good on the road as my 2020 gtpro 900 & handle as good even though its got large front Wheel and different tyres - looking at an upgrade to the new Rally Pro or GTPRO - fancy a change and like the Ralky pro
Whats the deal with the arrows facing the wrong direction on the pavement in your lane (example: 5:49-ish?) Is that a Euro thing? That would give me a heart attack thinking I was going the wrong way
How tall are you? I'm 6'6", and I'm longing for this bike.. But I am curious how much of wind buffeting is on it, on my tiger 660 my head is shaking like a loose lolypop, even with touring screen, on 90kmh+ speeds...
I’m 6’3” and I’ve never found a bike screen that works for me… I think you’re better off with no/a smaller screen and just taking the windblast, personally
It's not cramped in the highest setting, but at a standstill I'm a bit more flat footed than I'd like (if that doesn't sound ridiculous). So would be tempted to try the Rally Pro… but then you've got a 21" front wheel which I don't really have much use for (even if the handling's still good, your tyre choice isn't as good)
@@timrodierides I currently ride an 850 Sport and find it a bit cramped for my 34“ inside leg and 64 year old hips. I test rode the Transalp on the weekend and the extra 1.5cm compared to the 850 seemed really nice, even if the engine is a bit weedy in comparison, all of which leads me to the 900 Rally Pro. I can‘t really comment on the 21 inch front wheel because I‘m a bit crap on most bikes, no matter what the wheel size, so it sounds like I might just have to give it a go. Thanks. P.S. have you done a review of the Rally Pro? If yes, I‘ll watch it.
The problem I have is that the previous model gave me numb hands ..I didn’t dare upgrade to the 1200 as I was afraid the 270 crank would do the same .. so I went to a GS ..and now sadly Triumph have lost me as a future customer ..
@colin9967 The old 900 didn't cause me any issues. The 800 gave me white finger due to the high frequency vibes. Just bought the new 900 and think it is the best yet. Smoother, better instrument panel, great quick shifer.....
@@fyorbane well it must have been awful before , great engine , love it , but the vibes cruising numbs my hand up . We are all different though , enjoy your ride 👍
Another top vid Tim. I've never seen the point of paying 13k+ for all these new Adventure bikes. I quickly realised that after taking my GS off road, which is the whole point of these things, I quickly realised it was too heavy and boring. For the same price i sold GSA1250 for, i bought a brand new XSR900 for a toy, and ktm 1090 Adventure, installed a genuine cruise control and quickshifter, in 6k miles, not one single issue, unlike the GS which had countless issues...
Sorry to hear your SP fell over! (My olive tree fell over, but is fine) I never thought about motorcycles falling over in the wind! Do you have a list of bits to buy, or dies it need paint? 😮
Yeah I had a really good time grunting out of corners on it, it gives loads of confidence to attack corners which doesn't always happen on an adventure-styleee bike. Good engine note too...
If you have ridden a sliky smooth Triumph tripple then the t-plane is probably not for you, which unfortunately alienates a large part of the existing Triumph customer base.
For a moment the red paint on the beak looked like lipstick and now I can't unsee it.
True that 😂
Reminded me of the blood from the deer I hit.

Same here. The old triples were so nice and the T plane was such a vibbey disappointment.

large windshield for sure ! Did they reaise the handlebars so not to need Risers ?
Is this new 900 and the mods to the 24 1200 Triumphs realisation that the T plane crank wasnt really the way to go?

I mentioned a clear nice sound in your review. Can you tell me what microphone did you use?
It's just a DJI lav mic into a GoPro Media mod. I always think my sound sucks though!

It's to alert you to get back in your lane asap if you're overtaking - solid white line starting soon. Some euro countries have it some don't.
can you configure what you wish to see on the tft with std items; such as tpms, engine temps , Digital rpm ?
Yes the screen splits the display
Thanks.

Tim, you‘re a tall chap, if I recall correctly. Is the seat on the GT Pro high enough for you, or would you lean more towards the Rally Pro? Thanks.

The 1200 is bloody vibey at 80mph for me. The updated version (reviews out this week or next, but not from me) cures this, supposedly...
They haven't cured the 900 , so don't hold your breath .

Just a new bar end, really. Quite luckily it didn't get properly damaged! Thoughts for your olive tree x
Not too bad then. Very lucky not to fall into a car 😮

The presentation is bang on. But the presenter's microphone distortion and wind noise must be moderated henceforth,
that is; could have been better.
Apologies

Lets just spare a minute for the MT10. 😢
Tiger looks a big improvement over the old one. Shame Triumph still don't make a good dash.
I beg to differ, but the Tiger or even Trident 660 clock/dash are great - wish they would put them on the bigger bikes.
I wish I could speak British.
