In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
First 2 trips with Helix 7 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS G3, spectacular bottom structure but only faint or no fish echoes. My obsolete Humminbird 798 CI HD SI recordings show less defined structure but bold clear fish images more than 10x better. Plan trip to use both units same water and will post results on TH-cam.
I got one of these units for Xmas and mounted it on my boat the next day. I activated the unit and once I had a feel for it I could confirm there was no fish in my garage. Great. But when I hooked up the trailer and got the wife to tow the boat and me past the local grocery store, the unit continued to show no fish! I adjusted ranges, frequencies, chart speed and still no fish. I went into the store and they had TONS of fish. Salmon, trout, cod, halibut and even some fresh pickerel. Went back outside and backed the trailer right up to the store and angled the transducer right at the fish counter and still NOTHING. All I can think of is that maybe the unit was affected by winter temperature (-18C). I got frost bite from sitting in boat with no heat as wife towed it around store. So disappointed.
I'm disappointed I bought the helix7 SI for one reason. This unit doesn't come with enough memory for me to do my own live mapping of a river here in South Africa. Now I have to buy an SD card for just on $200 with maps on it that only covers the ocean. Apparently it has software on it and I can't use just a normal 32gig card bought from my local computer shop. I use a 3m boat with a 15hp motor and never plan to go into the ocean with it. Buying this SD card is a waste of money.
Hey now that’s old Chancey Walters, the old herd bull himself at the end of the video setting the hook. Way to go buddy how cool is that to be in an add awesome!

I was so confused on how to read side imaging . This was a good break down .
This is a fantastic explanation of SI and how it works.

Actually, I spend way more time searching than fishing since using electronics. Not complaining, I enjoy it. Even put one my kayak.
Really good explainer video, thanks 👍
How do you get such a sharp image? What are the best settings for clear fresh water?
video makes me feel like I'm going on a secret undercover fishing mission.
Well yeah. Doin circles while looking at my phone. Haven't caught shit.😂
Wow it’s a very easy for me to read, amazing 🤩
Please put out a fine tuning vid for SI MG. Structure shows great but the fish we are catching don't show up on the screen.

Yes indeed I'm going to stock up my freezer for the winter man fishes can't hide no more
three inches.

Do flathead and flounder show? If so what do they look like?

Hi, I bought a Helix 5 GPS G2 and I am looking for SI de and down imaging but I can not find it, can you help me to set it up please.
no
@@andersnelson6888 brutal lmao.
My side imaging Humminbird doesn’t show the water column, anybody have any idea why
Turn your contour mode off.
Hey was on the water when I got your reply, went through menu front to back up and down and couldn’t find that setting
American Made you may have to change from angler mode to advanced mode for it to show up
Cool
all i want to is view my Helix recordings on my pc.
Well my crap must be broken. So frustrating…
