The Best GT4 Cars on Assetto Corsa Competizione

  • When the GT4 pack was released for Assetto Corsa Competizione, it brought a new class of under utilised vehicles to the fold of the official GT World Challenge simulator. Admittedly, the GT3 cars have a much broader appeal as it is, hence why those cars were the focus of initial release, but if you can find the right GT4 car on the right circuit, well, you might just have a load of fun on your hands.
    Our John Munro has got his hands on all of the GT4 cars available in Assetto Corsa Competizione and after giving them all a fair shake, he’s got them all graded for your entertainment.
    From A to whichever letter the last car’s name starts with, John takes you through some of the strengths, weaknesses, and some of the quirks of each car there is to offer.
    From speed to corners, bumps to brakes (or the cars that don’t seem to have them), have a listen as to why one car may be recommended over another. There are quite a number to choose from, and some may be better at certain tracks. John goes over all of that and more, but it’s up to you whether to trust his expertise or not.
    Trust us, you should trust him.

    Thank you for this awesome video! I just started playing ACC 2 weeks ago and got into GT4 racing yesterday so this guide is plenty helpful. Impressed with the quality of your videos btw!
    Just a small thing to note: The KTM X-Bow GT4 does not use a 2.5 litre 5-cylinder, instead it has a 2.0 litre inline 4-cylinder borrowed from the Golf GTI or Audi S3. The 2.5 litre 5-cylinder Audi engine is however used in the KTM X-Bow GTX and GT2 models. Those are built on a completely different platform with a new monocoque. You can trust me on that, last year I visited the factory where all X-Bows are made in Graz, Austria.

    Amazing vídeo. Your overview helped me a lot. I found the Ginetta to be the most suited for my driving style, but the lack of top speed made it irrelevant for a complete season. Thanks for the help!

    For the Audi: you need to set the brake bias to 50-52%. Then the brakes are much better. Default is like 62 or 64%, horrible.

    Thanks for your videos. I enjoy them a lot. I am new to ACC and want to let you know that after lots of car testing, the best car for me and my "slow" driving style is the Audi. The Camaro was a close second, but it was too heavy on the corners.

    Engine map
    Never spotted this before. Was trying out different gt4 cars and I noticed that the Mercedes’ gt4 has 3 engine modes but the wired thing was as I was driven round the modes changed by themselves from 1 to 3. So I kept putting it back to 1 but it kept changing them automatically as I went round. Is it suppose to do that

      Hey, thanks for the comment! We have actually done a best GT3's video, it's in a slightly different format though. The GT3's have far more BOP adjustments, so it would be impossible to give them any kind of meaningful grade. However, we have done it by circuit to make it a little bit more useful!

    I'm brand new to GT4. Have a British GT Season coming up on ACC and have no clue what car to pick. What car would you best suggest for a British GT Season?

    • @TraxionGG
      @TraxionGG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great to hear it! I would say the strongest pick in terms of an overall package would still be the Porsche. The Mclaren is good in race situations with the straight line performance so that's a good alternative, and the Aston would be a solid and safe all-rounder if you want a safe introduction to GT4's 🙂 Good luck with the championship!

    • @saiintFPS
      @saiintFPS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sop by any chance? the ginetta is built for british tracks, so its quite competitive across the series once you get used to lobbing it into corners. as traxion said porsche and the mclaren are king though, and aston is very safe.

    • @TraxionGG
      @TraxionGG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@saiintFPS Funny you should say that, I was very close to adding the Ginetta to my original response as a dark horse. I genuinely think in the right hands and on the right setup, it can be the outright fastest at a place like Snetterton. 😊

    • @saiintFPS
      @saiintFPS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TraxionGG about half a year ago I raced in a gt4 series and the ktm and ginetta were regularly at the front battling. My teammate would have won the drivers championship in the ginetta had he not dc'd in the final round. Kim at some tracks is >1 second faster than anything else, but its ridiculously hard to drive

    • @saiintFPS
      @saiintFPS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both cars need a fair bit of setup work, but at the right track, on the right day, when the moon is at its zenith they're rapid

    Best GT4 for spa?

    • @zethyuen8859
      @zethyuen8859 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably Porsche since it is always good, BMW Cos of Straight line speed and maybe Aston for stability. I dont even have the GT4 pack, just taking notes off of the vid so hopefully this helps.

    9:06 "In fact we challenge you to win a race in the Maserati online"
    Well, challenge accepted, and completed, multiple times, be that a LFM win at a wet Zolder, win in a 6h Race (driving solo), 2 wins and leading the championship in a 2.4h series, and in sprint races including up to 90min a handful of wins, loads of podiums, and challenging for championships.
    To swing from bragging to explaining the car, the comparison to the Reiter is flat out wrong. The Reiter is slow, not in the straights, but in the corners and pace, multiple seconds off the pace in fact, meaning if a front end driver picks it you will now be bullying the backmarkers, which is a lot of fun, but not the same.
    No, the Maserati is BOPed actually competitively, I am not an Alien taking an L, I have gotten faster going to the Maserati.
    The car (as correctly stated) has a decent topspeed, but on shorter straights it can flex it's power outpower the field, additionally it is the fastest car in medium to highspeed corners (not just average). The big downside is brakes, and even if you are good in threshold braking you will be beaten by every car. Tracks with big braking zones like Monza are meh to downright bad, while the competition gets slaughtered at the Glen. The lack of TC is outside of specific conditions and corners a none issue, the Bentley GT3 has more kick on TC5 then the Maserati, and you can gather the car up even easier then the Boat. Wet will slow you down, brake bias goes only to 49% (fronts will lock and you can't do anything), in heavy wet conditions you get screwed, and in transition you want wet tires sooner and longer. In the dry tire drop off will hit you in races longer then 30min, however the car doesn't care if it is cold or hot, I have seen in extreme conditions other drivers tires pack up before and harder then mine.
    The Maserati has a massive skill requirement to get pace, it is a rare car to see picked but I have seen it picked more commonly, although they are one of a handful to challenge me (scoring their own successes), with the others struggling at the lower end.
    If I have written already a massive blob of text I will challenge two ratings for cars: the Alpine and the Merc.
    The Alpine is a top tier car, highly competitive. Yes it struggles on straights, but will make up all the ground on the brakes and in the corners. Alpine, McLaren and Porsche (and me in the Maserati) are common sights at the sharp end of fields on most circuits.
    The Merc on the other hand is hot garbage. Yes, on the IGTC tracks (like Bathurst and Suzuka) it is completely OP. Everywhere else the car suffers from crippling understeer, even when cranking the rake to max and clinically removing the rear wing. Also it responds terribly to setup changes.
