Kuru Yadu Nandana
This is the final astapadi from Sri Jayadev’s Gita-Govindam portraying Radha as Svadhinabhartruka Nayika, the loyally loved heroine, whose lover Krishna is subject to her will
Radha, who having united with Krishna, addresses her dear Madhava, desirous of being adorned by him.
While Krishna, the gladdening one, was engaged in amorous sports,
Radha said:
O son of Yadu! With thy hands which are cooler than the sandalwood,
paint with deer musk designs on my bosoms
which are like the auspicious pots of the God of love,
O Dear one! Once again besmear my eyes,
the bow that discharges the shafts of the God of love
that was erased by your kissing during your amorous sports,
with colliery excelling the blackness of the swarm of bees,
O Dear one! Set flowers on my tresses,
disheveled during the amorous sports,
which are like the banner of the God of love
and more beautiful than the plumes of the peacock,
O Abode of all auspiciousness!
You dress my lovely waist,
resembling the habitat of the elephant that pierces Sambara,
with silken garments and set the girdle with resounding bells.
Being beseeched by Radha,
Krishna did accordingly with great rejoice.
