    Excellent advice. I went through this exact exercise with my coach years ago, and it’s totally changed my game. I now hit my bladed irons further than most people hit their driver! It gives you consistent and effortless power

    Professional golfers from the 70’s learned how to shift weight with your Mom at the disco. That is how Gary got the last name Player and became a champion. We could all do more of this to become pure ball strikers.

    I swear with yesterday's videos and todays, it's as if you've been watching my swing! These are 2 things I struggle with. When I do get a good weight shift & keep my arms relaxed, I get WAY better compression & distance. Would love some drills to go with this, but this is a great swing thought. Keep up the great content!!

    What really gets me with Grant's swing is just how light and nimble he is during it. It doesn't even look like the club weighs anything or his body is exerting effort anywhere in particular. Just such a thing of beauty.

    I've been watching you for a while now and I have to say that you've gotten so much better over the years of really giving your audience one or two specific things to focus on, such as during the backswing you should feel your tush moving towards the target not away from it. We all know that if you give people too many swing thoughts it turns into a hot mess real quick.

    Been learning this in my lessons too. I’m an arms guy and the hip bump allows me to initiate my swing and start the drop of my arms so they’re not over the top. It’s a new feeling but has been a real good change

    Love this series so far! When people say to "compress the ball", it almost seems like rotating your hips past the ball placement is key. That rotation is what I struggle with the most and it seems like I thin a lot of shots. This is a great drill, thank you.

    Wish I had grants swing, he makes it look so smooth and easy. I’m a pretty decent ball striker with my irons, but I definitely know I’m not consistent with my transfer. So even though I rarely have issues with my irons, I do know that I’m not always getting my full distance potential. So then I end up 10-15 yards short and rather than being pin high, I’m chipping from 10-15, unless it’s a huge green obviously

    Wow! What a great instructional video. Grant has an amazing swing. I've been working on these concepts all summer. I'm working on turning my hips and shifting my weight forward on the downswing, but I struggle trying to keep my head over the ball. My hips are turning and my weight is shifting, but if I don't keep my head over the ball, it moves a bit forward and I end up smothering the ball, hitting a low, hook shot.

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! I dont have any hard and set rules (never have). I like the player to start about 50/50 or 60/40 left with an iron. Then there is a pressure shift in feet to right to about 70-80% by around lead arm parallel (note thats pressure in feet not mass of body). From there everything working forward ...

When I stand over the ball at address, I try to think of imaginary sticks coming out of the ground outside both my right and left foot and I am turning within the sticks on takeaway and downswing. i had the same thoughts recently, i realised it wasnt rotating, i was shifting my weight across, and not rotating at all meaning my hands were doing all the work and the face was either wide open or a massive hook coz the hands would beat my body, i didnt realise rotating the body would help with the shaft lean at impact and squaring it up.

No disrespect to Eric as I have learned much about the swing through his channel but I'm a fan of Grant and want to know from his perspective, how to do this, how to feel this, what my Dad taught me, etc.

    Nice to be young and flexible. You wind up tightly with no slack (1:50 notice his left shoulder is way behind the ball. Left arm straight, and front foot is flat on the ground) then shift your weight forward and let everything follow on its own. Passive arms and hands are must, which seems so counterintuitive . The urge to "hit" has to be eliminated with this model.
    There models that require active arms and hands, but not this one

    No amateur can swing/strike an iron like a Tour Pro, these guys are doing a whole different sport compared to people who started Golf in their 30ies etc. or people who play two or three times a week. I am teachig Tennis lessons for adults and to be honest with the clients, I have to make clear, that they will never hit a forehand like Alcaraz or a serve like Zverev. You have to start very early to build up the muscle memories for a great technique. You can improve, but never to a Tour or Pro like level...

      definitely wrong about this. Watching golf live and watching some weekend hackers, ive definitely seen the same shots. I can do it myself from time to time too. Only difference is consistency. But amateurs can definitely hit tour level shots.

      @@PerformanceGolfZone Haha I hear you right back, I'm a student of Moe Norman as much as I can be and he's got a very similar swing to Bryson DeChambeau. The way both of them got to similar ideas is night and day haha. One is very scientific the other just able to develop a set of feels to hit the ball straight often. I think the weight shift and a ton of the ideas in this are phenomenal by the way! I'd say though there was more opportunity to explore the actual feels of the shift. Grant is a great hybrid where he gives a lot of feels and technique and some of the most interesting bits were with you bouncing off feel ideas that Grant, or I never really thought about like the weight does shift very early or Grant breaking down why he likes to feel moving left into the ball vs the feeling he gets of hanging back. Thanks for replying and cool video!
