  • Join me on an AMAZING ride on 'TAIL OF THE DRAGON.' It's 318 curves in just 11 miles and it's a motorcycler's dream for a ride. I was able to get out on this ride during the tail end of fall, and the leaves add to an already impressive landscape. I also check out the 'General Store' briefly at the beginning of the video in Deals Gap, North Carolina.

      Yes there are a lot of turns on this video even if just watching and not on the bike! Thank you for the feedback on the soundtrack, I spent a while trying to pick out and match the tone/mood of the ride. Thanks for watching!

    Great video, been waiting for you to get this one up. Looks like that would be fun in your Mustang or my Camaro as well. Guess that other biker was in a hurry but dangerous. Thanks for sharing MMM!

    I've been watching Ed Marsh taking his 40yo C90 on this road and seeing how he was overtaking harleys on this road made me wanna ride that road. Year later I bought Grom and took it to Dragon's road. God!!!! How slow can you be?

    What a great ride you had and took us along on!! The colors were still good along the way as well. So happy you enjoyed it as much as you did!! A person certainly does have to be on their toes riding on that tail! I liked the patch you choose along with the stickers. I intend to catch your live tonight, if not, a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year with joy and good health to you and your family! Thank you, this was fun.

    If you're phone allows it, it's possible to follow this video along with your GPS for better familiarization before taking on this road. Excellent training.

    I've been saving this video to be able to watch it with my husband. We enjoyed it.👍 The new intro was very professional.👍 I have a question🤔 was that filmed straight-through non-stop? It takes 30 minutes to do the 11 miles? Hope I don't sound like a dummy asking this question.😊

    • @MrMountainMan
      @MrMountainMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So yes this was filmed from beginning to end of the rider straight through with a couple of small technical exceptions. I did stop for like 30 seconds once for a car to distance itself in front of me to have better filming of the open road. I also had to stop for like 30 seconds to pause and restart recording. It does take 20-30 minutes to ride the whole thing. The last scene was backtracking on the way back at the overlook. So glad you all enjoyed it, and thanks for watching this is one of my favorite videos I've made!

    WOW....More curves than a bikini contest on Daytona Beach👙🏖 I liked those lay it on the ground left hand turns ↪ That Mr Pass me guy was equipped well, except for in the head department 😳 Just looked like a really great ride. Glad you truly enjoyed it 🐾🐾🦊🐺

      HAHA I love the comment about the curves! Yes it was a great ride, and that guy on the bike passing me really surprised me. I had a few choice words inside my helmet when that happened. Thanks for watching!

  • @SquireSCA
    @SquireSCA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I played it at double speed so that it looked almost normal to me. haha
    Nice scenery, but a lot of the turns you are way under the speed limit. That's when folks get impatient and start passing. Going too slow, sometimes is just as dangerous as going a bit too fast...

    • @MrMountainMan
      @MrMountainMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that was my 1st time ever riding on it, so proceeding with some caution was advisable; didn't want my fenders ending up on that tree at the beginning of the video LOL! Thanks for watching!

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrMountainMan fair enough... It's one of those roads where there is a good medium speed to run through there. If you treat it like a racetrack like a few of the local mountain heroes do, you cause issues. If you are too slow and someone faster comes around a blind turn and there you are doing 15 in a 35, that can cause issues too...

    Well there is nothing like passing on a double yellow line in a curve .Just how stupid can a person get? Way to many curves for me. This is making me dizzy watching this. lol Very colorful ride.

    • @MrMountainMan
      @MrMountainMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that was a lot of back and forth on that ride! I was super surprised when that bike passed over my shoulder, I didn't see him come up in my mirror. Thanks for watching!

  • @rogerburns8478
    @rogerburns8478 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great ride just noticed two things while that guy passing was a dick move. You need to keep an eye peeled for faster traffic catching you. Also it sounded like you were disengaging the clutch on every corner that really hurts the stability of the motorcycle. You should downshift into the gear you need to negotiate and exit the corner just before corner entry.

    • @MrMountainMan
      @MrMountainMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with monitoring traffic behind is there are so many curves its not like a typical road to mirror check as often. I didn't blink and had my eyes forward as a lot of riders get hurt there. I was laser focused in front of me. I assumed (wrong) that with the double line, it was illegal for anyone to pass me and that guy snuk up extremely fast. Even had I checked my mirrors the curves created blind spots to the previous road. He was going back and forth on that road like a regular and taking chances ill advised.
      As far as the clutch, I was engaging it into neutral because I had zero familiarity with that road and wasn't sure how tight the turns were, so knowing what gear to stay engaged prior to negotiating the turn was unknown to me. I was playing it really cautious. The video doesn't do the ride justice at all. It looks slow and methodical (some of it was slowed down as I used anti-shake filming) but out there I was whipping left and right. Super cool ride.

      I get it man been down the dragon at least half a dozen times, and no matter how good you get just remember there's always room for improvement. Ride safe
