I did this about 2 weeks ago. TSW defiantly improved the graphics even on the old routes. I also loaded in New York Trenton, I can see what they were going for on the route but it seems dead. One think to compare is CEX Heavy Hall, when in a train look at your co driver, in the newer versions his neck is very strange!
In small doses, trying a little TSW2020 is a cute experience, but I'd hate to go back to those dark ages. The biggest difference I appreciate between the current games and TSW2020 is how much more reliably systems work (dispatcher, signalling, AI, train-specific systems, etc.). I tried to play some of the TSW2020 content (especially scenarios) a few months back for the ...whatever you call nostalgia but for stuff from just a few years back... and I ran into so many broken/unfinishable runs, it was staggering. Funnily enough, they seemed to usually be the scenarios with achievements (on Steam) tied to them specifically, so ones players might be attracted to for that reason before other runs.
The game has overall progressed better and worse over time but this is still one of the best. Also was the nec route updated because I can’t find it on tsw4. The voices are also really sad to be missing nowadays. Also nice video as always 👍
So sick seeing this, lots changed! I played all of the tsws, except csx heavy haul. I miss being able to preview the weather and time of day you could set for a route. I'd love for that to come back! I also wish they address the overall blurryness of the games and issues with distant detail, but i cant deny they are slowly making progress!
@RichyRail_ Yeah, I know that, I just wish I could preview the effects it would have on the scene. In the old days when you got to see your train before spawning in, if you changed the weather and time of day dials, you could see that little scene change to represent the changes. That way I could see exactly what scene I set up rather than: "I hope 7 am is when the sun comes up this season" then having to reload if not
Its pretty annoying that the tsw introduction didn't return in newer titles because if they brought it to tsw5 its could be a good tribute, still happy you saw my tsw2020 2 adrwap
Man i remember playing tsw2020 its evolved greatly, tsw5 has more freedom but tsw2020 is still nostalgic; sw1000r should tho come back in a new us route, atleast the amfleet cab car cane back to tsw
I started with TSW 2 and even if many say mostly no improvements and so on. I have to say it's a big improvement, especially graphically, even if it still has bugs
@@RichyRail_ It was good and was looking forward to Train Sim 2 but they cancelled to concentrate on Flight Simulator instead. When Dovetail brought this out it made my day.
All these years and the compass still hasn’t changed 😂
Only tsw2 changed it
Don't need to fix what isn't broken!
that’s so nostalgic
It's such a throwback!
@@RichyRail_ima sub to you because of this video

The graphics are so much better now! I must NY Trenton is still quite good regardless of it's timetable!

So it's good to see how much more reliable newer timetables and scenarios are!
Ah man I have the *best* memories of that original Northeast Corridor route segment.
RichyRail, Your videos always make me happy, so I subscribed!

Thank you very much! Welcome to the channel!
this is so nostalgic since this was of my first games i really got into but my first was tsw GWE it was just the gwe
The OG GWE is such a throwback!
Man the noises and everything. I really miss this game
It’s got some iconic sounds!
Watching on the 185 I remember playing this everyday

The old one never got ported. But it was remade with new york-trenton with some track eft out. The 1000r switcher and gp40 never came across either
The old NEC New York route is now partly in NY Trenton!

It’s a throwback for sure! You can still choose weather and day in the main menu!

The graphics and the gameplay elements have changed so much!
Was NTP that early?
Regardless, brilliant blast from the past, Richy!
Yeah, it's quite an old route!
I forgot they used to have voice lines for scenarios
Oh yeah, didn't they remove them in TSW2?
Did anyone play Microsoft Train Simulator? That was my first I ever played. Now I am looking forward to tsw5
I never played that but I’ve heard good things!
@@RichyRail_ It was good and was looking forward to Train Sim 2 but they cancelled to concentrate on Flight Simulator instead. When Dovetail brought this out it made my day.
Bro when i clicked on this vid an ad played and the exact same ad started playing on the TV
Ohh the nostalgia
Richy you should stream this one day lol
Maybe one day!
OH the memories
The sweet sweet memories!
A good starter game
I still play it from time to time but things like zooming are things i automatically try to do 😅
Yeah the absence of zooming really threw me off
to think TSW5 is so so so close is just...
Less than two weeks away!
Played it in 2018
I feel like TSW2020 is a cashgrab despite the fact I also grew up with that
How was it a cashgrab?
I have TSW 2020 on disk for ps4 and TSW 2 on disk.
@@chrisacworth on disk?! I didn’t realise they still exist!
I have this game on disc.
@@adamwalpole1180 I bet that’s cool, I’ve never owned TSW on disk!
@@RichyRail_ Yeah I got it for my PS4. Sad to see disc games are becoming a thing of the past now.
Im still stuck playing this cus I can afford tsw 4 😭
