    I had the pleasure of meeting him once. I asked him what it was like to play in the NFL. He told me, put on pads and a helmet, line up ten yards from a brick wall, then run full speed into it every forty seconds for an hour, or so.

    The Monday Night game where he single-handedly led the Baltimore Colts to a win over the Pats was the most incredible individual performance I’ve ever witnessed.

      He ran a punt back for a TD, a kickoff for a TD, had a run for a TD, caught a pass for a TD and threw a pass for a TD yep

    Joe Washington turned a ho hum Monday Night game in 1978, (as a Colt) into maybe one of the top Monday Night games of all time, when he single handedly beat the New England Patriots. On a rain slicken-ed field (second half) in Foxboro, he electrified a national audience, by passing for a td, returning a kick off back for a td, and catching a td pass. Cosell went out of his mind.

    I have watched highlights of the most elusive backs that the NFL has ever witnessed like Gale Sayers, O.J., Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Reggie Bush, Barkley and McCaffrey. But, Joe Washington had elusiveness from out of this world!

    It's a shame that Joe Washington never won the Heisman. I believe he's the greatest RB and all-around player who never won it. I could be a little prejudiced because Little Joe was always my favorite but I don't think so.

    DUDE! He is a clone of Gale Sayers! Why don't people revere him for his jukeing wizadry?!
    Is it that he doesn't have the stats, or that he was overshadowed by the Diesel in DC during the most successful period of his career?

    TD- how bout an hour long segment on just the 'Deep Threats' at the wideout spot from the 1970's- so many unheralded guys nobody talks about Wesley Walker, Kenny Burrough, Branch, Roger Carr, Stanley Morgon, Lofton just to name a few. Maybe just from '78 to '88- a full 10 years with the rule changes. I just seem to remember many players making a habit of catching bombs regularly-

    look back ... see where barry sanders got some moves ... and added on ... man is redskins did a posse ... and played washington for first half and diesel the second half ... scary ... they had monk , didier, 89 , 30 , warren , brown , put washington and rig in the back field ... bring washing to nor into slot or rig into tightened .. 30 could be a slot racier hb as well ... hd a lot of talent ... saved it for when in a hole ... like to see his stats sheet ... need to play him more to get the bonuses . minus some bad plays for possible going too the house .. lol. he was on high flying chargers offense then it seems, .

  • @thereturningshadow

    I remember watching a Redskins game in the early 80s and Joe Washington got the ball and juked in every direction and then outran the entire Redskins team and all he saw was defense in front of him and he actually had time to stop, turn around and based on his body gestures he was screaming at his teammates, "WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?" then turned back around and wiggled through more defense before being tackled. The rest of the offense eventually didn't catch up to him.

    Excellent!!! What could have been IF those IDIOTS in San Diego had not traded him before Don Coryell arrived. I am betting another 10-12 points a game avg. What a talent. Too bad that there is not more OU footage and better quality footage available for all of us. I am sure your offering would have been even better if there was more to work with, and it is as I stated Excellent!!

    • @TD-ke4vd
      @TD-ke4vd  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How about this scenario? Chargers keep Little Joe so they don't have to draft James Brooks in 1981 so they take Mike Singletary.

    • @Phlmyr
      @Phlmyr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a nice idea....But... There are 2 items that are a bit tough. 1 Don C. and "D" are almost a no go. Plus his idea was to just out score you. The other is that for Mike S to become what he did was in no small part do to Buddy Ryan. I have a friend who was on the "D" with Singletary and he in no small part got as far as he did do to the sculpting of the "D" around the personal. Just look at the (my opinion (but I am not alone) Archie Manning, the best QB straight out of college to the pros and what happened to him. Ryan genius was in putting people in a position where they could do what they did to the highest level. Speaking of Archie...What if he was placed in his prime into the QB spot in SD instead of Dan F. Isn't imagination great?
      In any case I love your offering. Joe was some talent. Speaking of Talent (Joe) and misuse (Archie) look at This guy and think what if he, and his skill set had been built around, instead of being just tossed out there with a do this game plan.
      have you ever seen a better set of physical skills, or mechanics? Oh and lets not forget arm strength.

I do have the 86 game but your pic quality looks better than whet I have, and better is better. If you want a list of my games please let me know. phlmyr@aol.com
