i plan to use this in my work van, we do alot of idling at customers houses and with gas prices im switching to a fan and a wet towel on my neck to stay cool and not have to run the ac idling for four plus hours a day, hope it makes a difference
Didn't know there was a new model and ordered the DeWalt fan from Grainger, thinking it would have an AC connection. Man was I pissed when I realized that area was bare. I seriously thought I was sent a knock-off! I would've just gone with the Milwaukee if I would've known about the AC delete. Wish I would've seen this video beforehand
Bought 2 more older model during a sale couple weeks back. Plug is more awesome and I can automate it with simple wifi plug. Waiting next version with Bluetooth or wifi control
It’s personal preference for sure. I have the old and new and for my use, I prefer the new one because the output is noticeably higher. Would I like to have the higher output without them taking away a couple features…for sure, but I’m using battery only (on the old and new) and never tripod mounting, so it’s essentially just an upgrade for my use.
A really helpful video, thanks. BTW, I read somewhere on the Web, that both models can only accept batteries up to a certain size. Anything bigger will physically not fit/mate with the connector. Do you know anything about that?
The dropping of the AC power source is idiotic by DeWalt; I like having options.....won't be buying the new fan because of the loss of the AC option. DeWalt....I hope you're reading this....bring back a fan with the AC option!!!
The new one is a downgraded version . I want both power options . I can’t find the old one no where trying to order one so i will be changing fan brands if I don’t find the multi power version
I doubt it. .5a vs 1.2a is a big difference. It tells you that the new one has a more powerful motor. If you reduce the current going to the motor, you are still reducing it at the same rate as you would on the old fan. However you are still running a higher amp motor. So yes, the new motor will consume less amps at lower setting, but being a bigger motor, at ANY setting it will always consume more than the old one. You got to pick: do you need primarily longer running speed, or, higher output? Most people will need higher output as they have a plethora of batteries and will just swap it out. Deal breaker would be if you need UNATTENDED long run time
💥🖐🔥🇺🇲😎 What security cameras you rocking? I'm new to the whole security camera ecosystem and been researching them. I ordered the Eufy S40 still waiting on Amazon 🤬
It was probably much cheaper for them to do so. Funny as someone else mentioned in the comments that apparently they didn’t drop the price though = saving Dewalt money.
Also thanks for the video. I didn't know they had different run times and power output. I have the older one and I love it. I mainly use it as a portable cooling for my old dog and it works great. I've seen these newer ones but never knew there was a difference besides not being able to plug it in. Thanks for the video.
now way gaining extra fan power is worth losing the extension cord option. what brainiac decided to get rid of that feature?
It’s common sense they did it do it only takes there battery. Which will result in people buying more batteries. Which equals more money for Dewalt.
that plug in option is massive; if only they'd of kept that with the upgraded speed that'd be worth an extra couple bucks for sure
They want to make you buy their batteries for $
@propulziontr9240 oh, I'm sure.

More power is a good thing but loosing options is a bad thing lol

I am sticking with the old. I don't use the plug in option but I may want to at some point and run time is the key for me.
If I'm gonna plug a fan in it better be a lot more powerful than these fans. I get it's an option lost but I wouldnt buy this fan to plug in anyway. 🤷

Wish I had seen this before buying the new one.
Thanks
Thanks for the comparisons I’m not upgrading you would loose the main plug in opposition

Nice review I’d take the old one. Like the 110 option
Thanks for the review. I am buying this for camping. 😂
Same...
My old one provides adequate ventilation. Not ready to upgrade and lose the AC feature.
Gen 1 is now more expensive than gen 2 and gen 1 is harder to find. I can’t wait for gen 3 or higher, but I ordered a gen 2 anyway.
Gen 1 is the winner imo...longer run time & more options. My Gen 1 blows good enough for what it is.
New one is louder, no external power option, less run time... genius! And old one is higher priced now ))
Well thankfully I already have the old model and i never regretted it even after seeing this videos 😗

Have since purchased the hybrid Ryobi fan….it’s been great!
Losing the 110 connector is a deal breaker
So if the battery runs out it's over until you charge it .

I would imagine if you lower the speed on the new one to match the max CFM on the old one the amp draw would be comparable?

I almost want to find an older one(I have the newer one) to make the amp draw comparison ..............almost.
My dewalt battery is 18v, can I use it on dewalt 20v fan? thanks
Personal I’ll go with the 512 only bc I have 5 flex volt 6 amp hr and 3 5s and a bunch of others
Do you need room behind the fan to feel it working? Some fans do not blow very well if it is sitting next to a wall. Thank you
No sir. That’s how I have this one set up is against the wall. Works just fine
thanks for video, think im going with the new one.
These fans don't appear to have usb or type C ports for charging a cell phone. Makes them totally worthless to me. Dewalt needs to get with the times.

Lorex 4K
Nicely done video
Wow nice extra power nice sharing my friend
Where you been hiding? Why would they take away the ability to plug it in?!
It was probably much cheaper for them to do so. Funny as someone else mentioned in the comments that apparently they didn’t drop the price though = saving Dewalt money.
The new one is NOT worth it and disappointed that they're not making the old one anymore. Bad move on DeWalt s part 👎
Are they both brushless?
Does anyone lnow if the new model is brushless?
They should have put a usb c on the new one
That fan blowes... lol. I have the ryobi one its as nice... not as cool looking...
The dce511b is no where to be found
Yes, losing the plug sucks!
Go Ridgid now
12 vowt &20 vowt🤣

Got the new for golf carts. Now to figure out how to mount it to the carts. Suggestions welcome
Definitely NOT 'New & improved '....😖👎👎👎👎👎👎
