- Some weeks ago I've had the wonderful opportunity to play the incredible Kern-Organ of the Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg / Straßburger Münster! The great acoustics of the church as well as the position of the organ console made this a really great experience!
I hope you will enjoy this recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's wonderful prelude on the chorale "Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele" (BWV 654)! I've never really worked on it in detail (hence the few minor mistakes in the second half) but I felt like playing it there with the beautiful principal in the Positif. I hope you enjoy this video anyway! :-)

The eighteen Leipzig chorales (BWV 651 - 668), to which this chorale prelude belongs, have an interesting history. There is also an early form of this chorale prelude (BWV 654a).

Beautifully played! I wish I could go sit and listen to someone play the organ in person here in Denver, but it doesn't seem to be an option as far as I know. (Or play it myself, but I'm not that good lol)

That is the most beautiful of Bach's chorale preludes and you played it very well though I don't think the tempo was quite consistent. All the same, I thoroughly enjoyed your playing.

I find this serene and elated melody belongs to Bach’s greatest chorales and your rendition is perfect as for the registers and the not too fast tempo. The cathedral is majestic which you well demonstrate with the brief clips enclosed. With sincere thanks.

when you record your videos do you use the audio from your camera placed over looking the console or do you you use a seperate microphone?
Yes! I usually mix the camera audio with the audio of another microphone down in the church 😀 In this case it was not possible so I placed the other mic on the edge of the organ balcony!

This question has been nagging me since I was given a dismissive answer at 15: why does he use a c-clef in this piece?
Nice. Too often neo classic organs are bland or shriek, And the organist does not like playing on calmer stops and at a more relaxed speed.
